PortaPow USB Power Blocker - Stops Charging, Allows Data (Single Pack)

Works perfectly for my wireless Carplay adapter. The car supplies power to the USB/data port even if the car is off so my phone would connect/stay connected to the adapter anytime I was near it. This dongle lets the data through and I use a USB splitter to get the power from the lighter socket which is not powered when the car is off. Kind of workaround but it works.

Does exactly what it is supposed to do and block the +DC power on the USB port but allow data transfer to work. I have this installed on a USB port on a Raspberry Pi5 that uses USB for a serial connection to another device. I didnt want to power this other device with my RPi5. but wanted to use minicom to communicate to it. Works as advertised.

I wish DATA only cables were more readily available. But, alas, they are not. Sure...you could butcher your own cords and cut that power line, but that is a destructive solution. If you've ever controlled a 3D printer with a raspberry pi or other pocket PC, then you probably have learned that traditional USB cables can send enough voltage through the cord to cause issues with the printer, even with the jumper that is supposed to prevent that in place. I bought these to try and stop this compromising current, and, just to varify they work, I plugged a USB powered light into one, and...no power was going to the light. So, I used it with my printer, and it does the job I need very well, and very affordably. I love these. I will probably buy some just to have in stock for a tinkering project where I might need one.

Works great to isolate the 5V from my Raspberry Pi to my 3d Printer. Only wish the connector was smaller as it kind of blocks other USB ports.

Bought this so my OctoPrint running on a Raspberry Pi doesn't power my 3D printer. I wanted to be able to flip the power switch and shut it down. Impossible without this blocker. Good quality and value.

I have not realized, because I have not fully read a clearly written product description, that there is simply NO ***data-only, no-power*** USB adapter nor cable to connect an Android phone to a PC without at the same time charging the phone's battery. Apparently, it is an impossible task. I learned my lesson, but I cannot blame the product!

NOT FOR APPLE CARPLAY Bought it to be able to run apple play in my car without charging phone and it won't do that. It just fully disconnects the phone (data and power wise). I'm sure it works for it's niche purpose, but doesn't work for your car. I meant to return, but forgot until the window had passed.

I am speechless, this is one of a kind dongle that actually work to bring GND, D+ and D- lines ONLY from one USB device to another. Context: if you ever need to flash/monitor esp32 (or other MCU) via usb-serial-JTAG while having that device powered externally -- this dongle is for you.

Works as advertised. Blocks the power. I use it with an Android Auto external device because the data+power USB port in my car remains active for an extended period after turning off the car. So I added a splice to draw power from another port (that is off when the car is off) and then only allow data in the primary port. Works perfectly.

Fait parti d'un petit montage dans la voiture pour alimenter le boitier Android Auto sans fil. Le boitier est bien alimenté uniquement quand le moteur tourne. (la connexion se rétablissait avec le téléphone quand je sortait pour aller dans le jardin ou que je bricolais dans le garage). Problème résolu, ça fonctionne depuis 15 jours.

Kör Octopi / Octoprint med min Raspberry Pi till min 3D printer. Denna blockerar strömöverföring via USB vilket var exakt det jag var ute efter. Produkten skulle kunna vara ännu mindre i storlek, om man får önska något.
