Gran Turismo 7 (PS5)

This is an all time classic brought back to life. Takes you back to the original. Bear in mind it’s a simulator game and not a “racing” game. Takes more skill but really good. Plenty of modes and cars to chose from.

I bought this right back in March 2022 played a for a few hours and gave up on it. I’ve recently got back into gaming and wanted a racing game so I reinstalled it. I watched a video on YouTube that walked me through the UI, the Cafe system etc. it’s not rocket science but it’s good to have everything explained. I then put a few hours in each night and began to work my way through the cafe menus. Once you start to unlock the better cars the game really does reward you. It’s a fantastic game. I just play with the controller. The handling is superb, each car loving recreated. My only complaints are I think it would be good to have a damage model and some of the music is a bit poor. I also think it would be nice to qualify for the races but this are minor quibbles in the grand scheme. It’s five stars all the way though. If you’re prepared to put some time in you’ll be rewarded with hours of brilliant racing. Highly recommended. A new spec 3 update is coming December 2025 with two new tracks and I think five new cars. Cant ask for much more.

Title sums it up. Graphically and the engine sounds and handling are truly incredible, the sheer detail of all the cars is something to behold. Full career mode where you customise and tune cars is back with a Big Bang. It’s classic Gran Tourismo but even better. The cons are that the installation of the disc game is ludicrously long. I have high speed fibre and it took 7 hours all in all, I’ve read on the internet that there’s a bug causing it to be overly slow so I expect that to be fixed. Another negative is the lack of latest car models (or ones within the last 2 years) which is disappointing but these are expected to come as a future update. It really is a brilliant game though. For those who haven’t played Gran Tourismo before please be aware it’s a racing sim not and arcade racer so needs practice to get good at but when you do it delivers the best driving game of all time. The depth of the game is huge with all the tuning and used car markets. Ignore the micro transaction options and you’ll enjoy it so much more. The dynamic weather and time of day is also incredible. It’s absolutely brilliant but has a couple of frustrations mainly the long installation time.

Side note: I played the early GT games and bought the Cardigans music because of them. The music in this is poor in comparison. The graphics are excellent with a choice of Full quality with Ray tracing or frame rate priority 60fps. The look of either is great, although I had expected just a bit better overall for next Gen it doesn't seem a massive step up from the last version. Sounds are also excellent and vary with car tuning changes and road handling. Frame rate is a slightly nicer racing feel but it is not massively different in the races I tried (maybe in some!) The controls with the PS5 pad are sublime with rumble feedback. Catching the car from a slide is easier with the pad than a wheel although the feedback from a wheel ( I have Logitech 923) is even more immersive feeling every slide and clip of the curb (or other car). there are the usual in car and out of car views and further adjustemts in car in relation to the cockpit. I have not quite completed the single player, computer AI is reasonable although occasionally prone to taking you out. Tyre wear also seem to kick in a bit suddenly on some races. Online racing is great fun but very competitive, there are ratings for speed and driver conduct. Unfortunately the game must be online for single player as well which is a little annoying. There are the usual licences to complete and also challenges which give decent rewards, some are ridiculously hard ( as they were in the past games). I use the wheel for most but for drift challenges the pad is much better and some of the Rally ones. Some of the cars are extremely expensive and so take a lot of playing to gain the credits or you can purchase credits with real money which I think sucks. Personally I think most cars should be accessible to players when you complete the main game and not used as a money earner, but everyone to their own.

It really is such a great game. On ps4 and definitely on ps5. When I upgraded to ps5 I was delighted to find out that all my stats had transferred over to ps5. GT7 is a massive game and keeps you coming back for more. Realistic and exciting. 10/10

BEST RACING GAME EVER

Love all the side content and building up your garage. So many options and things to do that the longevity is great. My boy and I are time trial masters (though deep down he knows I’m better :-)

Disc was completely brand new. No complaints. Plays on ps5 perfectly fine

Awesome graphics and another great entry into the Grand Torino series. Very realistic handling for vehicles. Over good car selection
