Actually works, easy to operate, buy your own test leads for it.
I use this guy installing burglar and fire alarm systems to find and identify dial tone on normal telco setups. I’ve had all the super duper expensive butt sets, but the thing I like about this Chinese special is it’s super adorable compact size, and its’ stupid low price. It fits in my tool box and does everything I could possibly need it to do. And if I lose it somewhere, as I am prone to do, another one is like $15 and two days away.

Great compact test set for light/occasional use
I am a telecom system administrator and while I am not a low-voltage electrician or anything, sometimes I need to check an analog line connected to a fax machine or modem (yes, we still use these ancient technologies) for dial tone and/or line quality. This little device fits nicely into the pocket of my tool bag and has proven to be invaluable when out in the field. It doesn’t do as much as a standard lineman’s butt set (that costs exponentially more) but for the odd instance where someone is complaining that they can’t send faxes or a vendor can’t connect to a modem, it allows me to quickly check a jack without finding a bulky analog phone. I added a Siemon 110 test adapter to my kit, and I can now test at the punchdown block as well with this handy little thing.

Good, small, cheap alternative to an expensive buttset.
Did it's job. Cheap alternative to an expensive buttset. Inline coupler didn't last long or intermittently was not functional. Had to always double check for dial tone in case the coupler was acting up and often it was. However the handset works good. Easy to carry around and takes up less space in the tool bag.

Great starter phone tester
Don't expect all of the features of a fluke...I used this for basic debugging of phone systems and it worked great for that. It has some features but I never bothered to use them, I attempted to use the redial function but could never get it to work. It also only stores the number for as long as it has power so removing the clips and switching to a new line clears its redial function (making it essentially worthless). My only other issue with it is that it can be hard to hear in a super noisy environment and there is no headphone jack for it, but it does provide a led light to determine if it has power.I would also recommend picking up a real butt set cord (AST Labs Butt set line cord is the one I ordered on Amazon), as whatever this thing came with (I think alligator clips) are not sufficient for any real work. The one that I ordered also came with the male plug so you might also have to include an adapter as well!Overall this is a great value for someone starting out in phone stuff who doesn't want to invest in a fluke butt set, you should definitely order a replacement butt set cord to use with this!!!The phone+butt set cord+adapter cost me around 30, compared to the 100+ a fluke or similar would cost, and provided all of the features I needed in a butt set.

Basic but Works
I have had to use this butt set for work on multiple times. It works though it is very simple and poorly made

It's a great butt-in set
I love this thing. The LCD screen DOES work, by the way, please disregard those who have posted to the contrary. I have a 170. butt-in set that is a pain in that the switches are always set wrong, they don't stay put, it's way too heavy and cludgy. Brand name starts with FLU.. This little set is perfect for checking analog dial tone. It just works.
