Uni Pencil Lead, The Uni" Smudge-Proof Leads, 0.5mm HB, 40 Leads x 5 Pack

It's somewhat smear resistant fro the oils in your hand and the dreaded graphite dirty paper when stored. but it does smear under highlighters. I use it still because i rather it smear under highlighters (the pastel sharpie ones) than get a whole notebook ugly and dirty with graphite smears. It's over pretty great quality. The lead case can be pretty discerning or confusing when its time to first open it. it's a slide out compartment! You can write relatively fast with this without breaking. The weight of the lead is true to form and is dark as it needs to be. It comes out and holds edge for a long time before needing to be lengthened. So I wouldn't say its particularly sharp, but its also not overtly blunt and hard to write with.

The Uni 0.5mm HB leads write smoothly without breaking easily. Smudge resistance is good, making notes cleaner. A 5-pack with 40 leads each is plenty for school or office use. Verdict: High-quality, long-lasting leads—great value for students.

Very good lead! Use this for coloring and am quite happy with it. I've only broken it once and I was being very forceful when it snapped. Each piece lasts a long time, too.

I thought this would be no different from all other lead I have purchased over the years - I was wrong! It really truly does not smudge. As a lefty, this is a huge plus.

I'm a bit of a pencil snob so I have to say I really like this lead. I think it's the best. I take off one star as it's not really smudge PROOF, but it's certainly pretty good. It writes smoothly and doesn't seem to break as easily as some others. (Though just about any .5 size is going to break sometimes.) This is definitely my top brand now.

You can tell that everything about this product is well designed. For me, these sticks are long-lasting and moderately durable. I've used this lead since freshman year, and now I'm graduating with it as a senior. IMO, the best thing about this lead is it's smear-resistance: as a lefty, lead has been the bane of my existence. But with this lead, you can literally highlight over your writing!! Some days your hand may still smudge or your highlighter doesn't go over cleanly, but whenever I forget to carry this lead, I can immediately tell the difference between this and standard lead. Each of these packs lasted practically an entire school year, and all things considered, buying this premium lead is a drop in the bucket for all the small conveniences it provides. The perfect lead for my Uni pencil. I use the pencil primarily when solving sudoku puzzles so the smudge-proof feature is a big help when I make a mistake and must erase an entry.

If you bought a Kuru Toga pencil and liked the pencil lead they included with it, these are the same leads. They have the same slightly different looking texture to them compared to most other brands of pencil leads, they don't smudge, and they don't break unless you press really, really hard. They're a bit more expensive but well worth the money, especially if you're like me and tend to break leads a lot.
