I recently started running and picked up the GU Energy Original Gel (Salted Caramel, 24 Count) box during a Cyber Monday deal. At about $1.50 per unit, it was a great time to stock up, and having this box alongside two others (Double Espresso Flavor and another with mixed flavors in it) means I am set for quite a while. What I Liked: Effective Boost: As a new runner, I genuinely feel a difference in my pace when I use these. They give me the energy I need to keep going. Great Taste: The Salted Caramel flavor is very enjoyable, which makes it easy to consume mid-run. Value vs. Competition: I have tried other brands like BPN (Bare Performance Nutrition). In my experience, GU delivers the same performance results but at a much friendlier price point, so I am sticking with this. What to Consider: Bulk Purchase: This is a 24-count box. While the value is excellent, make sure you enjoy the Salted Caramel flavor before committing to the full case, though I found it delicious. Final Verdict: I highly recommend these to new runners or anyone looking to fuel their training without overpaying. If you are debating between this and pricier boutique brands, save your money and go with GU—it works just as well.

I use these while running. I really like the taste and the texture works for me. They can thicken a little if it’s cold out, but it thins out while you’re squeezing it out of the tube.

I was struggling with the incline on one of the hikes I did this summer. I tend to not be someone who eats while I hike, because it makes me nauseous. This particular hike, I was really struggling to make it and I felt like I was holding everyone back. I was glad to have packed a few of these and WOW did it make a difference. within a few minutes of eating one of them, I had a boost of energy and felt so much better. Even my heart rate adjusted. I loved the flavor and the ease of ripping off the top and squeezing out the contents. I purchased a 12 pack for the value. Good quality and I will buy again.

Gu makes the best energy gel. Price is a bit stiff, but it is worthwhile. However, not a big fan of salted caramel taste.

I use this on long bike rides. I take one 5 minutes before I start then one every 45 minutes into my ride. Make sure you hydrate as you are taking this to avoid stomach issues as per directions. The chocolate and salt caramel. Tastes really good. I am a repeat customer.

I only wish I could get these cheaper but otherwise they're great. I wouldn't want them to reduce in price if it meant a sacrifice in quality. They taste good, they're fairly small and easy to carry/consume on the go, and they haven't caused me any stomach issues. I like that this flavor has a small dose of caffeine as well.
