My carburetor was clogged up replaced it with this one and it started right up

I installed the pump and the fuel filter as required. I also replaced the carburetor using an Amazon version. It would not keep running no matter what I did and for some unknown reason the 5 amp starter fuse would blow after a couple of attempts to start it with these parts in. Perplexed, I took it to a local Onan specialist. First thing he said is never use non-OEM carburetors or fuel pumps. He did a complete diagnostic of the generator. Finding nothing else wrong with it he put on an OEM fuel pump, fuel filter and carb. The generator then started right up and worked flawlessly. I had read various reviews saying similar statements but I still had to try cause the OEM parts are way more expensive. The Onan specialist said he has seen these same issues time and time again. The knock off fuel pump pressure is too high and he found that the knock off carbs have an extra o-ring inside that expands when it comes in contact with the gas causing strange issues. He indicated the original OEM parts always solve the issues. Lesson learned and at least this specific lesson was not to too expensive, but the OEM parts were/are crazy expensive and seemingly the only solution for me.
