Great AV rack for small spaces
Very solid rack with minimized footprint. Was able to assemble within cabinet to convert traditional media cabinet into open rack design for cleaner look and improved ventilation.

Perfect value for a home server, I prefer this to my 4 post rack
Compared to a full four post rack this is 1000% easier to assemble and has most of the same functionality. I was afraid my longest server chassis (24” depth) would cause it to tilt over but it really doesn’t, and it isn’t even close to doing so. Overall, I’d recommend this to almost anyone over a 4 post/caster rack. It’s just SO much simpler, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. I have a 4U UNRAID server chassis, 2U computer chassis, 1U switch, 1U patch panel, and 2U shelf with raspberry pi’s and assorted smarthome hubs. This chassis, unlike my previous 4 post chassis, holds all that AND let’s me maneuver it in and out of small closets and corners to keep it hidden (essential for the wife approval factor). And I even recommend this for people who need their server to roll, and would recommend using a floor dolly or wheeled shelf. The experience will be better than the incredibly heavy 4 post rack for most people. The included mounting screws are solid and plentiful. The finish is sturdy and doesn’t easily develop deep scratches. I do wish the Star Tech logo was an optional sticker, it’s fairly large and a bit garish.

Surprisingly Great Rack
First, if you are considering the 12U, get the 16U if have room and can afford it. It's not that much larger and gives you more flexibility. I'm using this for a homelab. I have the rack sitting on a microwave cart so I can have storage below. I had a 19" Aruba switch 1U down from the top, with nothing else below and it was rock solid! They got the angles right to keep this very sturdy. I would have no issue filling this with equipment. All the hardware was included and it was easy to assemble. Highly recommended if you want more flexibility then a traditional rack. Only downside is you can't use rails, but I had the Aruba attached just from the front and no sagging or flexing. Update: I have the rack almost full, including a 2U server and 3U server, along with some shelves and numerous switches. It is still rock solid and has no issue holding the servers from just the front.

Perfect home studio rack! Sturdy! Easy access!
I am very happy with this 12U open frame rack. I am using it in a home music studio to house my audio equipment and it is perfect because it is sturdy and strong so I am not worried about the safety of my gear and also having it be open framed makes it really easy to make routing changes and plug things in different ways. Well worth it! Will get another one when I have more gear.

Simple but effective.
The biggest win for this thing for me is that it's something inexpensive that could accommodate a rather deep rackmount case. All the low end 4 post offerings I saw wouldn't fit it. Sat that unit at the bottom, works fine. That aside there's nothing special to say about it. It's easy to put together, and more than sturdy enough. I saw other reviews about not having enough mounting hardware. But I have 3 bags with 12 screws and brackets. 36 seems like plenty to me.

Good for the money. Sloppy dimensions
It's a rack. I really wish it had some feet in the front to help with tipping. The rubber feet are also difficult to push into the holes. Also, the rails aren't perfectly dimensionally accurate. It's a good, cheap rack. I've got a 12u mixer, 1u power conditioner, and a 1u shelf with a mac mini on it. Don't expect to fill out all 16 units because the frame isn't quite perfect. There are also small burrs on the right-hand side diagonal brace where a piece of metal was cut out. The left side is smooth. If you need something to put on your desk and intend to leave 1 or 2 units empty this will be fine. If you need something for an office or for gigging or you want to actually use all of the advertised capacity, buy something nicer.

Best network rack ever built.
This network rack is an absolute beast. When ordering, I was concerned with the design and that it may tip over. Once assembled I noticed the weight and the inability to tip it over. I’m not a a networking expert by any means but was thrilled with the easy assembly and the heft and sturdiness of the rack. I own several Star Tech products and I have been extremely satisfied with the build quality of all of them including the 3 power surge protectors pictured here.

16U Desktop purchased. Nice solid rack that is worth the $$$ based on my research
You get what you pay for and in this case with the 16U desktop version it's no exception. It came with a nice set of hardware and was packaged well. It's heavy duty and is just what I was looking for in a solid desktop rack. I liked that it's a vertical rack and not slanted back as most desktop racks are, plus it's taller than most of them as a 16U. Just multiply 1.75" per U count and you will get a good idea of the height. The only minor nitpick would be that the assembly hardware is silver and not black. The rail / rack mount hardware included is black with nice washers. In my case, I had other hardware so I was able to assemble everything using black screws. You could also use some of the black rack mount screws to assemble the rack, so it's not a big deal and or worth knocking a star off. You can see in the pictures that the assembly hardware is silver too. It has a nice finish and is well made. 350 pounds of rated equipment weight. A nice setup for my needs!

StarTech makes solid products that live up to the billing - here I have to give 5/5 as the frame is doing what I wanted it to do - organize my desktop computer with NAS, other external drives, modem, switch and placed a 16 plug power bar onto its top rung - able to move cables into one area and off the floor. Does a nice job organizing home computer set up.

Parfait ! Super produit de qualité ! Rack 12U.

Nel mio caso ho montato i server nelle unità inferiori e dispositivi come firewall, switch, ciabatta e patch panel in quelle superiori senza troppi problemi. Assolutamente consigliato
