Incredible.
Was upgrading from an i5 10400f, and wow, got a big boost in fortnite with the same gpu. From 40 to 70 fps regardless of settings or upscaling to over a 100 unless there's raytracing.

The last good LGA 1700
The i5 12600KF is not Intel's most blazing fast processor, but I don't consider anything else on LGA 1700 a worthwhile upgrade. The performance/price ratio is just that good, and I don't want to hear any "what about i7 or i9." Until they figure out how to beat the AMD X3D processors, I will not buy a more expensive Intel CPU again. Anything more on an LGA 1700 is just getting into a contest to spend more money. As of writing this in December 2025, LGA 1700 is a dead socket for Intel's future. Even their next socket, 1851 or w/e they call it is planned to be replaced soon. Keep that in mind if building a PC with an LGA 1700 motherboard; there aren't any more upgrades on the way. I recommend waiting, especially with the ridiculous DDR5 prices. That said, I love this thing. I have no issues whatsoever from If you need ultra-high settings at 4K on the newest cutting-edge games as if your life depends on it, you are going to be spending money like it grows on trees and this isn't the CPU for you. The high end i9 processors see better gains in productivity than they do in gaming compared to this, so the bang for your buck drops off. But if you want a CPU for gaming on high settings at 1440P, and Intel LGA 1700 is your choice, make it this CPU. Don't waste lots of money on LGA 1700.

Fantastic performance for gaming and multitasking
The Intel Core i5-12600KF is an excellent CPU that delivers outstanding performance for its class. The combination of performance and efficiency cores makes gaming smooth while handling multitasking and productivity tasks with ease. Frame rates are strong, and everything feels fast and responsive. Being unlocked gives plenty of headroom for tuning and overclocking if you want to push performance further. Paired with a good cooler and a compatible LGA1700 motherboard, it runs reliably and efficiently under load. This processor easily punches above its weight and competes with much more expensive CPUs. If you’re building a gaming or high-performance desktop and want great value without sacrificing speed, the i5-12600KF is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

What I'd call a "golden" generation of CPUs
Finally decided to build my own PC this summer, and I knew I wanted a 12th gen Intel processor, given my laptop was sporting an i7-1255U (a surprisingly capable "mobile" processor!), and it did everything I needed just perfectly. I believe this was the first generation Intel started doing the whole P-Core and E-Core thing, and man did it pay off. Even running large VR games w/Ray Tracing mods, this processor doesn't really break a sweat (maybe due to me installing an extra fan on the CPU cooler, but credit where it's due). Assuming you have a GPU (this DOES require a dedicated GPU, as connoted by the "F" in the name), this is probably the best CPU on the market; great price, amazing multipurpose performance, and very much still relevant even three years hence. Really impressive! Haven't even touched the overclocking capabilities yet, and even then it still punches way over it's class so to speak.

Incredible Value for Upgrades
This CPU delivers outstanding performance at its price point, especially when paired with a good cooler to maintain optimal temperatures. The difference compared to my old setup is like night and day. Highly recommend upgrading from 6-9th gen motherboards to this, along with a B760 or Z790 motherboard based on your specific needs.

Have one in my build for over a week and it works great, does not overheat with most FPS games i play and is powerful enough.

Upgraded to the 12600KF from an older i7 6700 build and the performance jump was massive. It's super fast in both gaming and productivity tasks—runs cool and handles multitasking effortlessly. Paired it with a decent cooler and a B660 board, and it’s been rock solid. No integrated graphics, but I’m using a dedicated GPU anyway. For anyone building a mid-high range PC, this chip hits the sweet spot between price and performance. Very happy with it!
