Pays for itself!
The best on the market. Seal is solid on both doors. Pro tip: side seals (Grey hard plastic strip) may need to be pulled down slightly, once installed, for best fit (I think they typically get misaligned in shipping). One I even had to shave off 1/32 of an inch with a razor blade as it was too long to be pulled down, but a very minor adjustment. Expensive compared to other bands, but you get what you pay for and will easily save 2x the monetary difference in the first year on heating and cooling costs, if installed and caulked correctly (caulk included). In that way, it literally pays for itself after the first year. It also serves as an impenetrable barrier to flies and other insects.

Great dog door
I paid a contractor to install this door in my wall. The door is made for an 8 inch wall and mine is 9 inches. Because of this, the guy had to use wood to line the wall for the door to go into. He also had to use different bolts since the ones included were made for 8 inches of wall. Overall, the door turned out great! It looks very nice and seems really sturdy. Because of the double flaps, it is really well insulated and the cold wind doesn't get in the house. Be aware that you have to teach your dog to use the door, mine is a little timid of new things and I had to work with her about a week until she was confident enough to use the door on her own. I believe it took longer to train her because of the double flaps and width of the wall. But she learned and now she loves it! She runs in and out like she has been doing it her entire life. I love it also! No more constantly getting up to let her in or out, she is self-sufficient. I feel like the door is very well-made and durable, I expect it will last a long time. This door is expensive, but I think in the long run it will endure for years and negate the cost. I figured if I was cutting a hole in my wall that I didn't want to put a cheap, flimsy dog door into it. You get what you pay for. If you want a cheap door and buy one, just be aware you have a cheap door and it probably won't last. I am very satisfied with the Endura Pet door and would recommend it to others. If your wall is thicker than 8 inches, you will have to modify the assembly to make this door work, it clearly states this in the instructions. And if your wall is brick like mine is, you are probably better off hiring a professional to install the door, unless you are a skilled carpenter. I say spend the money and get a great product!!

Well Worth the Extra Money!
Amazing is an understatement when describing this product!!! While it was a bit pricier ($369.00) than the dog door we had bought and installed in our last house ($109.00 - PetSafe Wall Entry Aluminum Pet Doors), it was well worth that extra money. To start, the kit includes everything you’ll need (minus tools) to install and finish this dog door. I am attaching photos of the parts of the kit as well as the installation process. I say it is a complete kit because it has stuff included that I would have completely forgotten about; things like Loctite, weather stripping, 303 Aerospace Protectant (for preventing UV damage to sun exposed surfaces), a jigsaw blade, and it even includes dog treats to train your dog to go through the dog door! Everything fits together so perfectly, I thought I was in the Twilight Zone. I’ve never had a product work so well right out of the box. The instructions are crystal clear and super easy to follow. The doors themselves are amazing quality!!! The flaps seal all the way around the door, leaving no gaps anywhere. Couple that with the fact there are two, and your mind is at peace knowing you have the most energy efficient dog door possible. Helpful notes: I traced the actual outline of the inside lip of the dog door onto the template and cut about 1/4“ around that traced line. It was significantly less cutting than the template would have been. I’m not sure exactly how it would have worked using the template as-is, but I’d recommend doing it the way I said just described to avoid potential gaps. Another thing I found useful when cutting the inside “Tunnel” pieces was to mark the line on both ends of the piece and use painter’s tape to mark my line. The sheet metal is coated in a protection oil and makes drawing on them a bit difficult without removing that oil. Also, I used tin snips (garden snips in my case because I didn’t have the proper tool) to make cuts from the edge of the pieces to the tape line, about every few inches. I then used a pair of pliers to bend the newly created “tabs” up and down until they broke of cleanly (see pictures).

Great door, give yourself plenty of time for the install
The pet door has been installed for about a week now & overall we love it. This door is very, very well made. Our largest dog is a 60lb Springer Spaniel. We measured him to fit the large door, but in the end we decided to go with the extra large double flap door as you never know what the future will bring. If you're going to cut a hole in the wall, may as well do it once & do it right. This turned out to be a good call, he has no problems getting in or out of the larger door. As the other reviewers alluded, installation of this door is a bit of a bear. The main frustration is getting those threaded rods to line up. There has to be a better way - even if they put a small tube on one side for the rod to travel through it would sure help to make it easier to line up. One reviewer mentioned that he got around the problem by putting additional framing in on the sides of the door & just screwing the door into the framing with wood screws. I tend to go "by the book", but I wish I had taken his advice, it would have saved me a lot of hassle. The other issue that I ran into was that the exterior of the door is really made to push up against a flat surface on the outside of the building, however we have cedar lap siding. I chose to cut the siding away and install the door against the flat insulation board behind the siding. That took a little thinking & wasn't covered in the instructions. I decided to buy a battery operated Milwaukee Hackzall prior to the install, and I was very glad I did. It made life tons easier - highly recommended for the install. My electric Sawzall would have worked but it is so much more difficult to get into tight spaces, and outlets are hard to come by on the outside of the house where the door is going in. The last semi-surprise for me was the height of the door on the outside. It came out about 30 inches above grade, so I needed to build a platform out there with some steps so the dogs could get in & out. I should have realized this but it wasn't apparent to me until I cut the opening. The door ships complete with pretty much everything you will need. I did run to the hardware store to get a piece of "Z channel" aluminum so that there was a drip cap above the door, rather than just relying on calk; and I did manage to get some Great Stuff insulation sprayed in the wall before closing it up, which should help keep the elements out. Overall the door itself is worth the effort it takes to install it. It is air tight yet relatively easy for the dogs to get through. We also have two cats who like to go outside in the summer. This door isn't recommended for cats so it'll be interesting to see what happens when it warms up enough for them to get motivated to go out. So far they haven't tried it. Installation took me a little over 8-hours, including a trip to the big box store for the Z channel and a tube of caulk for the exterior lap siding. The installation video on petdoors dot com was a lot of help & is an excellent resource - highly recommended. If you are looking for a great pet door, go ahead & pick this one up, you won't regret it. Give yourself plenty of time for the install, or if you're not into heavy construction this is a project you may want to hire out. ** Update ** It's been over a year and we are still loving this door. It has held up well to the abuse that the animals give it & has really done a great job of keeping the elements out. No issues during storms, high winds, etc. The cats have figured out how to use the door but it is very difficult for them - they struggle with it. We put in a separate door for them.

Skeptical and failed after 4 days...BUT amazing customer service
I was tired of sliding door inserts as the doors ripped, magnets fell off and were horribly energy inefficient. So when I decided to upgrade to a wall dog door I wanted the best. I researched them all and the Endura seemed to be the best design. It arrived in a timely manner and was fairly easy to install (but I have worked in construction). My initial impression was very good. My dogs (English Pointer, Wirehaired Pointing Griffon and Miniature Schnauzer) took about a day to adjust to the new style and increased door resistance. The doors kept out the elements very well and I was finally able to use my sliding door normally again. Then four days after installation the clips which hold the magnets on failed on both doors. I didn't even have a chance to send in the warranty card! So no I had a hole in my wall and thought I'd have a major repair on my hands. I contacted the manufacturer and to my surprise they responded the next day. They said it was a known issue and that they had redesigned the clips and would expedite a pair. The replacement set arrived in about 3 days along with an installation video, but they were the exact same clips as the ones that failed. Super frustrated I contacted them again and explained this, they assured me that the replacement clips looked very similar, but these too failed. I had to contact them and explain that the clips were not the ones as in the video. Again they were quick to respond. They sent out another replacement order, this time the clip was in fact different and as described in the video, but they only sent 1. The new clip has fixed the problem so far. I contacted the yet again and they were apologetic and assured me they would send the second clip. I don't write many reviews. But I have to say that Endura's customer service is fantastic, US based and very responsive. I was ready to go to war with the company and they killed me with kindness and stood behind their product. I would definitely recommend this dog door, it is expensive, but the quality (once rectified) is superb and the customer service is great. Hope this helps.

I cannot possibly convey how terrible the in wall product is
I cannot possibly convey how terrible the in wall product is. The template they give you for the hole is entirely too big, it works, but could be 1/2 inch smaller all the way around. As a result the weather seal barely hits the edge of the hole, the weather seal is also cheap garbage, it will leak, you will want to use lots of silicone caulk after. The holes in the steel through wall tunnel are misaligned based on the marked bend points and wholes it connects to the interior door piece. The lack of screws for install, you have to fab your own from a threaded rod...I just ordered the right size from Fastenal, so I'll have to wait for those now to finish the install. Also one of the flaps was separating before it was even used. This product is tremendously overpriced. It should come with a variety of screw lengths, a template that is the correct size for the portion that actually goes into the wall/door, not an inch bigger all the way around, it should come with a telescoping pvc pass through so you're not screwing around with the garbage they provide currently. Also the corner pieces are plastic, and do not match the paint on the rest of the product. I would give this zero stars if I could, your product is only as good as the weakest part, and there are far too many weak parts here. 4/12/15 Update For screws you're looking for #10-24 machine screws. The length will vary depending on your wall thickness, 5 inches was the length for me, which is 1/2 longer than wall width, most hardware stores will not carry this type in the length you need, fastenal.com will. Tip for lining up the screws, tie dental floss around the mid length of the screw and use this to support the screw(almost like a beam on a crane line) and adjust it to line it up with the hole on the outside...additionally could just glue a bamboo kabob stick to the end of the screw to pass through easily and then just snap it off after you get the screw in.

Excellent pet door. Worth the cost!
This pet door really works! Did the installation myself and with the included templates it came out great! Pay attention to the wall thickness - I have an older house with thick walls and it just barely fit. They also sell a product for thicker walls (up to 13”). I ordered the large and it is plenty big for my 2 large dogs to go thru (65lbs). Very strong magnets on the flaps but the dogs figured it out quickly. Not cheap, but worth it with solid materials and workmanship.

One magnetic flap broke after ten days.
The specs on this animal door are impressive. The double, double doors are necessary in colder, wetter climates. It is "Heavy Duty." That is why I initially purchased this door. Installation through an outside wall was beyond my skill set, so I hired a journeyman carpenter with the equipment necessary to do a professional installation. My dog caught on easily how to let herself in and out of the door. It was all good until yesterday, ten days after installation, I found pieces of this door laying on the floor. The bottom cover had split and the magnets had fallen out and one side had come off. Yes, my dog chewed on the pieces after they had come off, but all puppies chew. I am examining her poop for shards of plastic from this defective product. The outside door works as advertised and the other side just flaps. Is there any recourse?
