ADVANCED ELEMENTS Double Action Pump w/Pressure Gauge

6 month review...This pump delivers exactly as advertised. It's light, durable and quickly inflates my Advanced Elements Convertible tandem kayak. I use it on all trips just incase I get a puncture or need to top off the air. Happy to say, that after 15 trips, neither scenario has occurred. The features: 1. The pressure gauge works well and appears to be accurate. 2. The double pumping action is solid and smooth- no wobbling. 3. The feet keep it stable while pumping. 4. The hose is adequate in length and does not kink, even after coiling it in my kayak bag for weeks. 5. The the size is small enough to fit in my big kayak duffle bag and easily fits in my bow bungees (see pics). However, if If you're into run or bike-yaking, there are smaller options available. But for driving to the put-in or taking long kayaking trips, this pump is great. 6. While I've used it in Houston summer temps (100° F), I've not tried in colder climates. 7) The set of nozzle adapters work great and fit snug. Note, after 15 uses, the cord holding them together snapped. Can easily find another tether cord.. In conclusion, I researched the heck out of pumps and am confident, for all around purposes, this is a solid investment.

I got great value for money. This is extremely easy to use. It does require some strength I use it to pump up my paddleboard. I’m unsure if my gauge works correctly the fit is great inside of my paddleboard bag. The speed I would say is medium to slow, but it does great at inflating things that need to be inflated.

It is very, very fiddly. Sometimes it works great, sometimes it just blows air and nothing pumps up. The hose seems like poor quality, gets kinks and I think will break before long. The many tips are on a loop that is way too short, so they get in your way while you're hooking up to pump. Buy something else. It's also so big that I hate to put it in my boat, but not big enough so that your back gets very sore while pumping (particularly during the 'is it working, is it not working, let me pump for twenty minutes' events, but any time really). In short: booooooo.

I got this pump to inflate my Innova kayak to 3 psi and I need the pressure guage to know when I hit 3 psi. This is recommended pressure for my kayak but it is a bit high for things like inflatable swimming pools, air mattresses and beach balls. I think 3 psi is the limit for the pump as the plastic handles start to flex a bit and it starts to get a bit hard to pump. There are higher pressure inflatables and I think a different pump would be better the those. But the pump does move a lot of air quickly. It is a fairly short hand pump requiring you to stand with at least one foot on the base. Given the short length and short stroke length, using the pump requires constant stooping which gets painful quickly. A better design would be to make it more like a bike pump with a longer length. But chances are it would be less painful for you than for me as I'm 6'4". I made the mistake of taking the pump with me in the kayak for top-off inflation. This resulted in water getting in the pressure gauge and causing it to fail. I replaced the pressure gauge with [...] for about $15 delivered. This is a much better quality glycerin filled gauge that can safely be taken in the kayak and immersed in water. If you are planning on getting your pump wet then either get the version of this pump without the pressure gauge or plan on doing this upgrade. I also have a K100 pump which costs considerably more, about $70. This pump does not have a pressure gauge but it is much smaller and great for taking on the boat. It operates with two hands and no feet and the motion is much smoother than this pump. It does take a bit longer to inflate my boat however the process is less painful.

Works great for my inflatable kayak as well as the floating rings. Easy to use inflating and deflating.

Got this so I could use the gauge with my Intex Explorer K2. I was able to inflate the boat however the pressure gauge did not read due to type of valves used by the K2. The pump was fairly stiff and took a good bit of effort to pump. The tether for the adapter nozzles is a bit short and cluttered making it hard to attach. Over all I feel this is a good pump, however it simply did not work well with my Excursion K2.
