Ron Jeremy: The Hardest (Working) Man in Showbiz – The Adult Film Everyman's Outrageous Autobiography Review: Surprisingly entertaining look at the Adult Film Industry - Everything you ever wanted to know about the porn industry and more, told by a witty and charming person, Ron Jeremy himself, the King Of Porn. You see or think of Ron Jeremy you think of adult entertainment, but surprisingly he's also a classical pianist and violinist, does stand up comedy, has a Masters degree in Special Education, was a teacher at the Crystal Run School For The Mentally Challenged, holds a brown belt in Kung Fu, and was honored by PETA as an Ambassador Of Goodwill. Surprise. He was also a boy scout. Growing up in a normal and supportive family, Ron Jeremy Hyatt wanted to be an actor, a real one. He stumbled into the porn industry by submitting a photo of himself to Playgirl magazine. His career took off from there, but he always tries for (and treasures) getting cameo and bit roles in legitimate movies. He's managed to spend his lengthy career staying away from the drugs and excessive alcohol linked to the occupation. This book is an explicit look at the porn industry, not holding back in describing scenes or use of language, so its not for the squeamish in that area. There's a 17 page black-and-white photo spread and a 16 page color photo spread included, plus black-and-white photos throughout the book and at the beginning of each chapter. No "naughty bits" are shown except upper torso. The color photos are of Ron with a surprising array of famous people. He's like a who's who of Hollywood. It was also Ron Jeremy who directed (and acted in) both of the movies made with John Wayne Bobbitt and his revamped equipment after his wife cut it off. While graphically describing scenes such as filming on a yacht where all the actors and actresses were seasick, a "swingers club" (basically a $ex club) in New York, and after hours antics at celebrity houses, Ron still manages to come across as romantic and sentimental. Plus, he has an amazing sense of humor. Another surprise. If you're not shy of delving into a sleazy industry, then I highly recommend this book. It's funny, informative, and entertaining. I'm not a fan of the porn industry, nor do I own any (though I've rented a few in my lifetime) and perhaps because of that I found the book interesting. It's easy to not put faces to such a faceless occupation, but Jeremy opens up the world and slaps us in the face with it. This book is a very fast read, even at 360 pages. The content is graphic but told in a humorous tone. It takes us from the 1970's through current day in the industry, and Ron even waxes nostalgic for the "good ol days". Make sure to read the prologue too. I highly recommend this book as long as your not offended by the content. Enjoy! Review: Fun and strangely informative! - I'm not even sure why I bought this book in the first place, it was one of those curiosity-type buys. George RR Martin is slacking with the next GOT book so I'm just trying to find some new material until then! I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book though, it was a fun read, he apparently has a great sense of humor and not many people can laugh at themselves, but Ron Jeremy can and does in this book. I laughed out loud at a couple of his stories. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was all the photos of him with actors/actresses, it just seemed a bit schmoozy, but overall this was a fun book and worth reading. I recommended it to anyone that doesn't take life seriously and aren't easily offended. Ron sounds like a fun, good natured person, if he ever comes back around to promote his rum (which he did about a year ago at a local restaurant but I didn't go) I'll be there this time!

Fun and strangely informative!

Ron Jeremy Loves Ron Jeremy - Literally
Bottomline is Ron Jeremy says he is the greatest porn star of all time and there is no one that he does not know. He is in the thick of everything celebrity in Hollywood. There is not a porn act that he has committed and not a stone has he left unturned. There are many pictures in the book which is the book's saving grace. Otherwise, it is not that good, but not that bad. If you want to read about the porn business and his involvement in it and his friendship with Sam Kinison and other celebrities it is a fairly good read. You will have to read it in order to find out how much Ron loves himself. It is something I would rather not write up in this review...

This book is fantastic! Please read my review.
I wish I could find a way to just say hello, and not ask overused, or dum questions to Ron in 5 minutes on the phone. The book is fascinating, my girlfriend read it first and spent forever telling me about Ron's work with children (some special) something she had done. For us the book became part of this amazing person in all parts of life people will look away from. And he did porn that most people have seen. This book is proudly on our bookshelf forever.

Quick read; nothing too heavy
A candid book with the occasional 'too much information' section regarding the porn industry. Jeremy is a good storyteller though, and doesn't take himself to seriously. I read this right after Artie Lange's Crash and Burn, and found Ron Jeremy to be a refreshing, low-drama character compared to Lange's total douche-bagged-ness. There are fascinating revelations that I truly didn't expect about a 30+ year adult film actor. If you're easily offended, maybe you should skip it. But, if you're open minded and like learning about people beyond their public persona, this is a great book!

Funny Book! Saw this book at my local barbershop ...
Funny Book! Saw this book at my local barbershop (they have all kinds of random books), started reading it while I was waiting for my haircut and then bought it for a very cheap price to finish it. This book is explicit but really helps you understand how the adult industry works. I would also recommend the Audible series The Butterfly Effect with Jon Ronson!

I liked Ron when I've seen him on tv,always coming across with a good sense of humour.I always got the feeling he knew exactly where he sat in the business and was comfortable in this. His humour comes through out the book which was filled with laugh out loud moments.however the need to be seen as mainstream was a surprise and a theme though out his career.I've never seen a R J porno but he's the only porn star I know the name of so maybe Ron has reached that mainstream he searched for.A great read, highly enjoyable and Ron comes across as a good guy in a bad business.

Haven't start reading yet, but the copy I received had terrible photo quality. The photos look like as they were printed on a deskjetprinter, 20 years ago!

I found this a great book and would recommend it to anyone wanting to understand the porn industry from a male perspective. Jeremy is hilarious and tells a great story. The section on porno movie titles had me laughing for days.
