are they waterproof?

Waterproof ProtectionMichelle, as with any leather boot the waterproofing is probably only going to be maintained if you treat the leather with the recommended waterproofing product.  I believe the tongue is connected  a ways up which would help repel water coming in near the laces.  I would not expect them to be as waterproof as a rubber boot but I do wear them in the snow and rain without an issue.  I didn't treat mine so the water will saturate the leather a little, I expect that if you keep up with the water repelant treatment you would do much better.  THis is what the boot description says  "Seam-sealed waterproof leathers cause liquid to bead up and shed from the surface, providing durable, long-lasting waterproof protection". I really do like these boots and they are the ones that I have purchased for work and around my home for the last 5 or 6 years. Hope this helps , I wouldnt stand in a puddle all day with these boots but I think if you found yourself in a consruction site with mud and puddles you would probably be in good shape, the more you care for and clean the boots the longer they will perform.  Most of all these boots are comfortable from day one .

It has to do with the width. Medium is M wide is E. Sometimes there is EE or EEEThese timberland shoes are OK and a bit cheaper than Timberland shoes from Timberland directly. I found that There are different grades of timberland. To get the best timberland shoes at premium prices, buy direct from a timberland store. Amazon Timberland shoes are medium quality and do the job. They last 1/2 to a full year in construction and are $20-$30 less than premium Timberland work boots. If you are going to ruin them in several months it does not pay to get the premium ones. If you wear them around the house or out then I would get premium Timberland's direct. They will look and feel better. The inside is real leather rather than the material.It is a personal preference. Since the people making Amazon Timberlands are not as good as the premium Timberlands, make sure you check the size and fit when you get them. I received a size 13 in a box marked 11.5.

Question 4

These are twice the insulation of the 6in work boot. At 400g insulation, will these be to warm to wear during summer months?

I work in a welding shop all year round so EVERYTHING i wear is warm in the summer.I've had 6 pairs of this same boot over the last 12 years the winter time is the worst for me. My feet are never cold though, can't say they don't get warm in the summer but it comes with the territory.Will be ordering another pair at the of the year though this time i'm going to try the safety composite toe.
