hard to give a Birkenstock less than 5 stars
I got the London because I couldn't stand giving up my Birks just because it was a bit chilly out or I had to play dress-up. They are as comfortable as expected. If I could wear them without socks, they would probably be fine but that isn't an option when they are part of a uniform. The left shoe is just loose enough to slip on the heel and pull the sock down over time. I also wish they were a bit smoother texture so they would take a gloss instead of the softer, pebbly finish. They are comfortable but I could with for more.

had to return
I love my birkenstock sandals and really wanted these shoes to work for me. However, the 39 seemed too short and the 40 were huge so I guess it just wasn't meant to be

Walking about town
I just ordered my clogs and am looking forward to walking about town with them in London (teehee!) this summer (woohoo!), however the shoes are somewhat big for my feet as the forms don't quite fit. However, I do have about a half inch of room for my toes (as should be with other shoes) so I'm thinking these actually do fit me. I wear a size smaller in the gizeh sandals that I bought where the forms fit my feet, but since my foot isn't enclosed in sandals I thought it made more sense for my foot to fit the forms. Also, I have narrow feet and a narrow ankle/heel so the back of the shoe rides up and down, however, I was reading this is normal and to be expected of clogs. The only downer about that is I have to wear high socks to prevent chapping on my achiles heel. Another part I will mention is that if you have narrow feet (you can find a way to measure your foot online if you're unsure) then order the narrow as Birkenstocks tend to run wide.

Loved the color, not the fit.
I have a wide foot so that wasn't the problem as the toe box was okay. The Birkenstock London style top part of heel rubbed up and down on my heel making the fit quite uncomfortable. This style is not for my narrow heel even with socks, just too big. Sad they didn't work for me. All of my other 10 pairs of various Birkenstock open heel clogs and sandals are wonderful!!!

Happy feet!
As a nurse working in a critical care setting, I was finding that my feet, legs, hips, and back were hurting me more and more after those long and busy 12 hour shifts. I had tried wearing a variety of different shoes until I finally started wearing my old Birkenstock Bostons because they were the only thing my body seemed to be able to tolerate without pain. But I needed something with a back and I was tired of buying shoes that just would not do. I made the decision to buy a pair of Londons in Iron and it was the best decision I could have made.I read all the reviews to help me decide on sizing and finally chose to order these a size up from my Bostons to account for the back. The sizing was right on. I really think that by ordering a size up I avoided the discomfort of the higher back that some have had an issue with. I have not had any issue with the toe bar. In fact, the toe bar hits exactly right. The leather is thick and I know from experience that they will last a lifetime. Sending them off to be resoled and recorked is always an option. They may not win any beauty pageants, but then... hey...I happen to like the looks of them. The day I received them, I took them straight out of the box, put them on, and walked out the door to work one of those famously long 12 hour shifts. I had ZERO problems. No breaking in needed. My feet and body were thanking me for spending a little extra to make them happy.I would most definitely recommend the Birkenstock London to everyone I know. Especially the nurses! I'm already planning on purchasing a secondary pair. Probably in the Tobacco.

puzzled; the shoes are breaking me in
I like my sandals, but these clogs are not fitting well at all and I regret buying them. Unfortunately I already wore them outside...The shoes do not support my feet evenly; the right foot lists to the left in a twisting fashion. I expected much greater comfort after enjoying the sandals so much.

Cute! Wish they fit.
Love the construction and look of this shoe! It's hard to buy shoes over the internet. I actually ordered 4 pairs of these in different sizes, both narrow and medium. The mediums were correct in width but the length ran large. I usually wear a size 8 which translates to a 39. Those were huge. The 38s were still big. The 37s were closest but a tad too small. Because one of my feet is slightly longer than the other, one shoe fit but the other had my toe bumping the end of the shoe. Basically my problem with all the shoes was that if the heel fit in the heel cup, the raised toe portion didn't hit in the right place and vice versa. The leather is a little stiff but I think with wear it would soften up. I do appreciate Amazon's free return policy so that I could try several sizes. I'm bummed none of them worked out.

I <3 Birks
I am a recent convert, having previously thought these shoes were ugly hippie footwear. I was wrong, so wrong. Yeah, they are a bit ugly but it's in more of a "so ugly it's cute" kind of way really. But who really cares because my feet don;t hurt for the first time in months. I had been trying everything to fix my plantar fascitis with little success until I bought some Birkenstocks. This was my second pair, bought after I fell in love with my Boston SFB clogs after one week. I don't know why, but there is absolutely no break in period with these for me. They are comfy straight out of the box. I did need to work the leather of the tongue a bit to soften it up as these come quite high on my foot and the leather is stiff in the beginning. Still, they came on tuesday and I wore them for an 8 hour shift on Wednesday with no problems.I ordered the same size I bought in the Boston, 40R. I wear a 9.5 women's and my feet are a bit on the wide side. They fit just fine. I am wondering if all the notes about size being off is coming from a perspective that this should fit like a regular closed shoe. It isn't, it's still a clog, it just has a back on it. It will fit like a clog. I like having the back for work and it does make it less work to keep the shoe on.
