Bought this to replace yet another ROC internal card reader/ USB3 device that had failed, having seen it was allegedly made in Germany I took the plunge, at the moment I’m glad I did, it’s fast with both USB types and reads cards much quicker than my old reader even when it was new - check before you buy one you have the required connections on your motherboard- see specs. It will still work if you have Gen 1 connectivity as it is backward compatible (the unit is Gen2) be aware that the unit may default you sound to the headphone, this means no sound for any affixed speakers you’ll have to disable the headphones and make your speakers , default again. Looks and built quality seem good only time will tell if the unit is better made than an ROC or Japanese equivalents. After reading a “vine” review I’ve come back to update my review, a vine review says the card reader only accepts UHS1 SD cards WRONG I use high end professional camcorders that require UHSII cards and they are read with no problem at all, whether the unit has been updated since the vine review I’ll leave it there.

Have 14 year old tower case which is perfectly usable but lacks USBc. This fitted easily into 5 inch slot and cables reached and connnectrd to ASU’s X870 motherboard. All worked no problem. Very happy.

This replaced an older similar unit but which only went up to USB 3.0. After installing a new motherboard bundle which had a USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-E header, I thought I would treat myself to this new unit. It works very well - now. Initially it was preventing my new PC from remaining in sleep mode. The PC would go to sleep and then immedaitely wake up again. Unplugging the type-E header from the motherboard cured that problem, but disabled all the USB ports, so not really a remedy. An email to Graugear in Germany elicited no repsonse. Eventually cured the issue by simply plugging my Logitech wireless keyboard into a USB hub rather than directly into a back panel USB port via an extension lead. No idea why that helped - probably some conflict with the new motherboard. As with a previous review, check your Windows sound settings, as this unit does seem to make headphones the default.

I had to get the adapter to fit in the 3.5inch slot but it was easy to instal plug and play as long as you have the spare hubs to plug it into it! Having an extra 2 USB C ports helps alot now most things are USB C.

Great product, recently installed all working very well and pleased with it aesthetically. Forgot to add the sata cable like an idiot.

Device has two usb c ports. Only one of these work. I contacted their support and they didn't respond ....

*Please read updates at end...* I don't often bother to leave reviews, but... Weeks delayed in shipping from Amazon (despite showing in stock) aside, this item seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. 10 Gbit/s at the front of the PC. It even says on their website "puts an end to “crawling under the table and behind the PC”.". In reality it does not appear to be correct. It would appear that it only runs 5 Gb per port, I have only had one device to test with, but it doesn't go over on any port. (In fact CDM shows 480MB/s). If I crawl under the desk and plug the same drive and same cable in to the back of the PC I get 10, (over 1000 MB/s in CDM). I would be really happy if support contacted me to tell me I was doing something wrong, or had a firmware update or something, but I think the reality of this is that it is not as described. Shame it took so long for me to be able to test and find out, otherwise it would have gone back. Was tempted to put one star, but for what it does actually do it seems fine. Update: As mentioned by another reviewer, for some reason this blocks sleep/wakes the computer. I have had to disable all USB wake options which is a little bit annoying... Update 2: So after a lot of digging the "Key-A" motherboard connection that everyone refers to as 3.2 Gen 2, is actually on my Gigabyte motherboard only Gen 1, so looks like people aren't referring to it correctly or Gigabyte are just being odd. Very odd as it has rear Gen 2 ports that work at 10Gbps... Still wakes up though unless I disable keyboard and mouse wake up...

Great addition to any front panel, especially for photographers. Having all the standard options needed to connect multiple cameras at once, especially the high speed USB C is great. It was fairly easy to install and id say decent quality for the price. Unfortunately the first one I received did have a faulty cable but its being shipped internationally and the exchange for a working one was minimal hassle - i think I just got unlucky.

Upgraded an old (dusty) case that had just gotten a new motherboard with a extra USB3.2 & USB-E headers to have some USB-C and USB-A. Ordered with a 5.25" to 3.5" disk plate so the dust stayed out of the case and mounted in a unused 5.25" bay. Easy install apart from the usual fun of getting around the innumerable cables for the power supplies and the HDD raid disks.

I was rebuilding my 6 yr old desktop to get it Win 11 compatible so I thought this would be a nice addition since I was pulling out a DVD drive anyway. Install was a snap, all the cables were easily long enough to reach their respective connectors on the MB and it fit in the bay just fine. Totally plug and play, all ports and card readers work fine. I've not tried the headphone or mic jacks since I don't need them but the audio and mic popped right up in the audio settings. Having the card reader is handy instead of digging out a dongle to read cards. Construction is good, it feels solid. One thing to note is it does need a SATA power connection, I was out of SATA connectors but used a Molex to SATA adapter with no issue. If you want something like this it's a good piece.
