Though wiring and programming might not be as straight forward as some other options available, this sensor works just fine. I needed a longer range I2C ToF sensor and this fit the bill nicely. The unit was fairly accurate, even at the longer distances. A nice benefit with this one is that it is already in a protected housing. I had even contacted TF-Luna with a technical question and to my surprise, they responded later that same day!

Good to learn a distance measurement.

I integrated the Wishiot TF-Luna LiDAR Range Finder Sensor (0.2m-8m) into a prototyping device, and it has exceeded my expectations in both performance and ease of use. The sensor supports UART and I2C communication protocols, which provided flexible interfacing options with my microcontrollers, including Arduino and Raspberry Pi Pico. ✅ Technical Highlights: Single-Point Distance Measurement: Provides precise ranging with a nominal operating range from 0.2 meters up to 8 meters, suitable for obstacle detection and distance sensing in robotics and automation projects. Communication Interfaces: Supports UART (serial) and I2C, allowing easy integration into diverse embedded systems. The included 6-pin terminal to Dupont cable simplifies wiring and connection. Stable and Low Latency: Consistent readings with minimal jitter, ideal for real-time applications requiring rapid sensor feedback. Low Power Operation: Operates reliably at 5V, making it compatible with common development boards without additional power regulation. Compact Form Factor: Small footprint and lightweight, allowing easy mounting on drones, robotics platforms, or custom PCBs. The sensor firmware and documentation are well-suited for developers, with existing libraries and example code facilitating quick deployment and testing. ⚠️ Legal Disclaimer: This review is based on my personal experience with the Wishiot TF-Luna sensor under prototyping conditions. Results may vary depending on hardware configuration, environmental factors, and user expertise. I disclaim any liability for misuse or performance in critical applications. In summary, the Wishiot TF-Luna LiDAR is a robust and precise distance sensor that integrates smoothly into embedded systems, making it an excellent tool for advanced prototyping and development.

The provided cables/connectors are useless, when you push them together the inserts pop out, I had to replace them with proper terminations and I had to correct to color coding, incredibly reckless and irresponsible to swap the red and black wires, red is always positive and black is always negative/GND, it's called standards. It was a time consuming hassle to look up the specifications on the company website to make sure I was able to connect and set everything up correctly. It was only because I read the reviews that I knew to check the wiring. Thank you to the people who mentioned the wiring error in their review. I can't believe that in the product manual I found on the manufacturers website it states the following, "This product DOES NOT have polarity and over-voltage protection at all. Please wire and supply power according to the instructions." I find it hilarious that they warn you about the device not having polarity protection and then the distributor goes ahead and provides cables with the incorrect color coding. They also provide two styles of cables with ever so slightly different connectors, one works well and the other not at all and the color coding is completely different for both sets of cables. This is obviously a case of a reseller trying to make a quick buck and not caring about what they are selling, just bundle anything into the package and sell, sell, sell.

Everything packed as expected and in good working order. This was used for a school autonomous vehicle and it worked well.
