The Fleas Didn’t Stand a Chance—And My Spoiled Ginger Prince Approves
If you’ve ever battled fleas in the southern U.S., particularly in Georgia, you know those little pests don’t play fair. I swear the fleas here are built different—stronger, sneakier, and somehow immune to most over-the-counter treatments. Enter: Cheristin, the only thing that’s finally given both me and my cat a break. My 5-year-old, 9.3-pound, formerly feral ginger cat who once lived under my house and slowly (over the course of a year) decided I was trustworthy enough to accept cuddles and full-time indoor luxury. He has a catio for safe outdoor time—he’s earned his spoiled status. Outside time = fleas. We tried shampoos, natural sprays, and the kind of expensive spot-ons that come with a dissertation-length warning label. Nothing worked and kept him feeling okay—until Cheristin. Here’s what stood out immediately: 🕒 Fast-Acting Relief This stuff starts working in 30 minutes and lives up to the hype. Within a few hours, I noticed a dramatic reduction in scratching and the flea “sightings” (aka when he runs across the room like something’s biting his soul). 💥 Kills Fleas Dead—Fast The claims say 98–100% flea kill within 12 hours. I believe it. By the next morning, it was like the fleas had packed up and left town. No scratching, no twitching, no more flea comb drama. 🧴 Easy Application The applicator has a small rounded tip that makes it easy to apply right between the shoulder blades—aka the “zone of tolerance” for most cats. My guy barely noticed. No greasy residue, no strong smell, no weird side effects. 🌿 No Nausea or Weird Reactions Some treatments have made him lethargic or nauseated in the past. Not this one. He went back to sunbathing like a king and zooming around the house without missing a beat. 🙌 Multi-Cat Friendly While I just have the one, I appreciate that Cheristin comes in a one-size-fits-all dose. If you’re managing a pride of cats, this is so much easier than juggling sizes and labels. A few helpful tips: - Apply at night so it has time to fully absorb before your cat resumes back-flip grooming. - One dose truly lasts the full 6 weeks—though I set a calendar reminder at 5 weeks because Georgia fleas are relentless. - Works even with cats who spend time outdoors (in controlled settings like catios or screened porches). In short, Cheristin saved my sanity and let my spicy little ginger boy enjoy his catio time again—flea-free and fabulous. If you’re at your wit’s end and nothing else has worked, give this a try. Your cat deserves comfort, and let’s be real—so do you.

Expensive but it kills our resistant fleas
So fleas are the bane of many pet owners' existence. It's a constant struggle for Texans because we don't even really have a flea season - it's all year long. Still, I managed to stay on top of things until a couple of years ago, when I noticed our topical, once-a-month flea treatments didn't seem to be working as well. Over time, they stopped working altogether. And I tried them all - Advantage, Frontline, Advantage II, Frontline Plus. I began resorting to using Capstar in between monthly treatments just to keep my pets from being eaten up. And of course, I sprayed my yard, washed the pet bedding regularly, vacuumed daily, put diatomaceous earth on my pets, and sprayed the inside of my house. (My six cats are strictly indoor cats but my dogs do go outside to potty.) I finally accepted that our fleas had become resistant to common flea treatments and went in search of other treatments. A friend told me about Cheristin so I bought it and applied it to all of my cats. The box says it's best to apply to the base of the back of the head rather than between the shoulders and cautions not to let cats ingest the product. Holy cow - this stuff works! Within 24 hours, I found dead fleas on my cats when I combed them. Within 3 days, I could not find a single, live flea on any of my cats! Hurray! This is a once a month treatment. This product alone will not eliminate a flea infestation. You will need to use a multipronged approach by washing pet bedding, vacuuming daily, treating carpeting and soft furnishings, etc. You may even need to use flea foggers if you have a bad outbreak in your home but this does a good job of killing any fleas the take up residence on your cat. All topical flea treatments have to potential to cause localized hair loss, and other symptoms that are more serious so I strongly suggest watching your cat carefully when you first apply this, or any other, flea treatment. I was a little anxious but all of my cats were fine afterward and they are flea-free. It's kind of expensive but it works so I have it on Subscribe and Save now. Thank goodness I found something that works again! Update: More than 2 summer months later, my cats are still flea-free with no bad side effects. Not even any localized hair loss, which they often had when I used Frontline. Very pleased.

Just as effective as prescription!
It's hard to get prescription flea treatment for all 6 of my cats and this definitely helped me avoid more money than I needed to spend! I tried Frontline and Advantage, fleas are always immune to it, I got all my cats on Revolution Plus one summer when we had a really bad outbreak and it worked really well but was extremely expensive. After they were clear of fleas I took them off of treatment and they were clear until the following summer we found a few fleas on them (despite being indoor-only, we're in Florida.) We acted quickly, gave them all CapStar and decided to try Cheristin long-term, so far no more fleas and way more affordable! Obviously it doesn't offer full protection from worms or ticks but it works just as well for fleas, which is great for indoor-only cats. Advice for application: I found it helps to shave a small portion in the back of each cat's head if they allow it before applying to make sure they get a full dose (especially if long-haired) and give them treats so they stay and let it soak in as much as possible before they try to shake it off. Keep an eye on it, if it starts to drip after a few minutes you can dab off the first layer. If your cat is fiesty, try wrapping them in a blanket while applying, it calms them down a bit.
