AC/DC: The Bedrock of Riff Angus Young: A True Guitar Monster Bon Scott: The Pirate of Rock 'n' Roll Review: Excellent and BD DOES play in USA - 1st - the BD DOES play on American dvd/BD players! I always thought that BD's were region free meaning they would play on any BD player but desertcart gave me warnings when I purchased this that it would not play so I thought this purchase was sort of a gamble. In fact, had it not been so cheap(got the blu-ray new for $5.51 + shipping) I would not have purchased it because of the warnings. I'm glad I took the risk! 2nd - GREAT performance! Tons of energy and Bon Scott! 3rd - I'm surprised at how good the video quality is considering how old this is. The video quality is very good - surprisingly good although it is full screen only so you'll have a black area on each side of your screen unless you do what I do - I watch on an 82" screen and switch my TV's format to "zoomed in" so the entire screen is now the movie - no black areas - my TV's remote control has this simple option. This seems to work well and I lose very little of the video by zooming in. 4th - Apparently this is a documentary BUT there are menu options to play music only - this is the only way I have watched this and I have only skipped around the video and am yet to watch it start to finish. I can say that because of the great price and wonderful video quality and the fact that this is w/ the original singer, Bon Scott, I may buy a couple more of these for gifts. Review: Good quality 👌 Filmed in 1979 - Nice previous lost footage from the early years. Filmed 3 months before Bon's death. If your a fan then this is a must have. Concert/documentary and more. Highly recommend product and seller.

"The only movie powered by AC/DC" - advertisement
I remember when I was a teen seeing in the newspaper a full page add for this movie! This movie is mostly concert footage with interviews and a music video sprinkled throughout. It did ship from overseas, and with the COVID-19 shutdowns all over the world, it took exactly 3 months for it to arrive (ordered: April 20th ; arrived: July 20th). To me, it was worth the wait. It played fine on our X-BOX (which is our blu-ray player). The band's performance is amazing! They were tight and performed their songs flawlessly. The blu-ray sound quality was great. The interview questions are clear, but the answers can be a little tough to understand. The blu-ray picture is not quite full screen, and it looked good to maybe pretty good. In conclusion, this is a great movie for AC/DC fans wanting to enjoy a vintage (Bon, Angus, Malcom, Cliff and Phil) concert experience.

Blu-ray, but not 5.1
First the good news. Considering the age of this film, the video quality is rather good. The concert footage is entertaining. Unfortunately, the interviews with band members are ridiculous and dated. Who would ask stoned/drunk rock musicians if they are ready for world war 3?? It is unfortunate but I will simply fast forward through these parts during future viewings. Now lets discuss the audio. I run a 7.2 channel system and have a nice collection of SACD, DVD-A, and Blu-ray Audio 5.1 discs. Although this Blu-ray has a set-up option for 5.1 (concert footage only) approximately 98% of the audio will come from the front channel, center channel, and (in my case) 2 subwoofers. The surround and rear surround channels provide ambient sound only and it is minimal. So, if you are expecting this disc to provide true surround sound you will be disappointed. That being said, I still give this disc 4 stars based upon the concert footage only.

Ultimate Original AC/DC!
This is a great CD of the original band in great form. A must have for any AC/DC fan. I gave up my first copy to a convert, so needed to replace it.

Didn't look this good when it first ran in the theaters
And it certainly didn't sound this good when I saw it in the theater when I was in college. The cinema's sound system couldn't handle it. Total distortion. None of that here and it really looks good even though it's 4/3 aspect ratio. Amazing transfer. Classic AC/DC line up with Bon Scott from a Paris concert. Released originally in 1980.

Worth buying the Blu-ray
If you're looking at this I assume that you're trying to decide whether the Blu-ray of this concert is worth getting over the DVD, or if your DVD copy is worth upgrading. The Blu-ray transfer is in fact very good; the source film does have enough fidelity that DVD can't quite do it justice, and seeing '79 AC/DC in HD is an experience. That said, this does not quite extend to the sound; as other reviewers have pointed out, the "5.1" mix plays nearly nothing out of the surround speakers and didn't really work my subwoofer either. (However, if you have high-end speakers and an appropriate receiver, the higher encoding quality of DTS-HD MA might do something for you.) I only have to note that "Walk All Over You" cuts short and is missing all of the footage of the band playing (not sure if this was also the case on the original VHS, or if that portion of the film was just lost before this transfer was done). Also, if you watch with closed captioning, the transcriber seems not to have had a copy of the lyrics in front of him because some are obviously incorrect. (Again, not sure if the original captioning was carried over or if this is only a problem with this particular release.)

First saw it in Geneva on the big screen in 1981 if I remember correctly. It was a bit fuzzier then.... Brought back memory of queuing all night outsideThe Birmingham Odeon(did that a couple of times) to get front row tickets...none of this interbollox ticket selling where all the nerds & touts buy 'em up and stick them on ebay at 5 times the price...then you had to be a FAN to get to the front! This is what it was like before Bon Scott had a touch too much of the booze.....where would they have gone if he'd survived? Who knows...probably would have remained more bluesy if nothing else, which would have been no bad thing. History.... yet people will insist on visiting modern constructs of musical film making....fools. This was shot in the past and is of the past...it's a gem, of its time. A few young lads, on the make, buggering about.... yet the music is assured, tight, well formed, and holds its own today, well over a multitude of others. It is fine stuff, and this recording shows it. Enjoy it. I did.
