Lightening struck our house and we lost our cameras so had to replace. These are easy to install and I love the security I get knowing they are recording.

I love these cameras so much I bought a set for my two homes one for father in-law moms house a sons home. not all at the same time but that shows you how much I love these cameras. easy to set up and view on phone for Free Free Free.

I really enjoyed my first Standard Definition Night Owl system. It lasted about 6 years before the recorder broke down. I replaced it about a year ago with a 1080p system. I just swapped out the cameras, kept the existing cables and upgraded to 1080 in about a half hour. Unfortunately, the recorder only lasted about a year. So, I decided to upgrade to a 4K system and it arrived today. I attempted the "easy blue tooth install" from the new Night Owl protect software, but, it could not find the unit. I attempted an automatic wifi install and made sure I was on the same network, and it still could not find the unit, I tried manually and it still could not find the unit. I plugged the recorder into a monitor and there was no picture, I tried a second 4K monitor and still no picture. There is a blue light flashing at the back of the unit, so I know something is working. I tried the Night Owl support website as instructed, and that was no help. I am about an hour into this and I'm done and boxing this up for return. I have started using WYZE cams elsewhere. Sadly, I think I am done with Night Owl as the WYZE cams just seem to work without the hassle.

First, the mounts for the cameras are fully adjustable. Many reviews say they aren’t, but I have my cameras mounted on an angled gable of my house and it was fairly easy to get a nice, perfectly level view.Pros:Setup was easy, the most difficult thing to do was run the cables. I had no issues whatsoever and never needed to contact them.The cameras make for a very wide angle view and yet are crisp and accurate in color for daytime. Night viewing is also excellent, even without additional lighting. I can easily see my tree line 150’ out back of my yard. I didn’t expect this nice of a night view for the price point.Picks up vehicles very reliably as well as motion. Notifications are ok as well with one exception: human identification.The DVR is very nearly silent… it would be no problem at all putting it in a living room or bedroom. All you hear is a slight whir from the hard drive if you listen closely.Cons: the camera mounts aren’t what I would call sturdy, but they are acceptable for the price point. They are full adjustable in 3 axes. There is a YouTube of how to adjust them. I have them under the house eaves, and are fairly protected there, so I anticipate that they’ll be fine, but time will tell.Human identification and notification is sketchy. It frequently identifies my little Papillon dog as a human (which suits her just fine). It also includes old imagery of an actual human in the notification, which is very odd and unhelpful. It causes me to review the footage which frequently verifies that nothing is there… or my dog. However, it does work on actual humans fairly well.In short, considering the price I paid, I’m very happy with the purchase and would do it again. Hopefully they’ll have software updates that fixes the false human notifications

Work well

The motion detection and night vision have a quality of a system that costs thousands of dollars. I HIGHLY recommend this system.

While I've used night owl for some time now, the software is in need of a serious upgrade. It does matter what detection features you deselect (ie:motion) the devices continuously send alerts for any detection, mostly flying insects.Also, despite purchasing new with 4 color cameras, the package received contained only 1 color camera and 3 black and white.
