Great Little Vise
I am very pleased with this vise. I bought it to use with a drill press and it works very well. The build quality is good. The finish is good I highly recommend it.

Worked for my application.
I picked this drill press vise to drill into metal. It fits my bottom of the line, 5-speed, 8" Central Machinery Drill Press from Harbor Freight that sells for around $50. This 3" size fit the drill table well. For that drill press table, you'll need 4 hex bolts that are 1-3/4" long including the bolt head, with the threaded part being 7/16" in diameter. Also you'll need two washers and a nut to fit that size bolt properly. The outside diameter of the washers should be 1". I attached the bolts, one in each slot with a wrench so that the crank of the Wilton vise was facing me. One washer under each bolt head, one above each nut, the nut facing down under the table. Tighten secure but do not over tighten the bolts. Center the drill carefully and pre-punch the work with a centering punch to keep the drill bit from wondering too much. I prefer to use Molybdenum bits to drill metal as they're stiffer, less prone to overheat, stay sharp, and last a long time. Set the belt of the drill press on the slowest speed to drill metal. Overheating the bit increases the likelihood the bit will break and wear prematurely. For safety's sake, wear eye protection, don't force the bit into the work, and drill a tiny bit at a time. Raise and lower the drill bit like a woodpecker. If it smokes you're going too fast. I also recommend using a couple drops of Tap Magic cutting fluid (for use with steel, or Alumatap brand for aluminum) to keep the bit cool, lubricated, and to prevent it from smoking. I don't know which drill presses this vice will fit on. But the spacing of the slots on this one works with the press I mentioned above. The jaws have good depth which I needed. Be careful as to your drilling depth, if you go to far you can hit the metal rod of this vice. There is a drill depth indicator on the drill press. Move the drill head up and down to see that you won't hit it before you apply power. Good quality unit, did the job well, though I had to glue the balls on the handle back on with superglue gel, which was easy enough. Also I put some synthetic grease on the screw.

Very Satisfied
Wanted a vice for my bench drill press. I checked out the Doyle product first and was going to go that route until I checked this Wilton LP4 out. Fit and finish on the LP4 is vastly superior. The casting has been finished nice and smooth. The paint finish is nice and even. The mechanism works nice and smooth, and I find the tolerances are absolutely fine. My only thought is that it's a shame it doesn't come with a set of padded jaws, as I suspect most folks will need a set. All round, very satisfied for the price point.

Exactly as described, well made and HEAVY
Solid vise, actually better than the many palmgren vises I have.

A great little vice for my hobby table
I needed a small vice to use on my hobby table, for small hand machining jobs that I do there regularly. This is a perfect fit for me, as it's not large like my regular one used in the garage/shop, and mounted easily to the top of my hobby/building/crafting table. I got a set of soft jaws for it, and it's quickly become an essential tool for my work. It's especially good for my dremel and soldering work that I perform regularly on items, working very smoothly in lightweight tasks. I do see now there are some less expensive ones available, but for me this is the perfect little workhorse, and the price at the time was very good. I'm very happy in this purchase. If needed it could easily be adapted also to some of my large machines in the garage, as the base has standard bolting slot pattern for attaching to the drill press or mill if need I ever need it there, and the clamping force is plenty strong enough for most any cutting/machining need.

Says it is Fine-Grain Steel
Wilton vises made-in-USA do use fine grain steel and are some of the best vise's money can buy. They now make them in China and statistics along with many cautionary reports say Chinese steel is Dirty and easily fractures. Time will tell. So far, the vise seems well made and tracks nicely. You will need to de-bur the casting and oil it prior to use.

Excellent quality
I suffered for many years with a inexpensive drill press vise and was finally fed up. What a pleasure to use this one. You get what you pay for!

It slides and clamps pretty good. The lead screw handle is a bit short for my hands, but works ok. The grooved fixed jaw, will work on smaller round objects. A little bit of light oil here and there helps. The mounting slots line up with my drill press table, pretty much exact. The center guide for the sliding jaw is a great addition. Where the main screw goes through the main body, there's plenty of strength in the design. If the tommy bar/handle was 2 inches longer, I would have given 5 stars. The handle came apart in my hand, setting up this vise. I havent used it yet! Do I send it back or request a refund? I seen this as an opportunity to improve upon an inadequate design. Deduct 2 stars for that and 1 star for the main screw securing screw (sliding jaw) that keeps coming loose. I used threadlocker to fix that issue.

Bought an Amazon warehouse deal and arrived with a bolt slot snapped off. The box was damaged on the same corner as the vise. It said Amazon inspected condition OK . The vise itself is working fine and of good quality. just can’t bolt it properly. The price was lower but was expecting maybe few dents and scratches but no broken parts. Would have paid less for that kind of damage.
