Works Great!
You could pay someone $250+ to install this $14.50 capacitor, or you can just put it in yourself for free. I've never replaced one of these, but indications were the capacitor was bad on my A/C, so I figured if someone could put one in there the first time, then all I had to do is put another one in, so I did. It is so easy to do that it makes no sense why they are so expensive to replace. I would usually remove the old part, but it is uniquely situated in a bolted frame (top left new one), so I just unhooked the wires and attached them to this capacitor and jammed it up under the wiring and put a strap on it (marked 2023). I left the old capacitor in its place, because they was no real need to remove it. While I was at it, The old one was marked 2020, but that doesn't mean too much, although this one is guaranteed for 5 years. I cleaned the coils with Super Clean and rinsed with the garden hose full-blast from the inside while I was working on it. I'm shocked how dirty they get just from grass clippings, so I now turn the unit off when mowing the grass. Trust me, it makes a huge difference and could save your unit. That may have taxed the old capacitor, I couldn't say, but you couldn't see through the coils before, but you can now. It has to be working more efficiently now. I could have removed the old one and positioned this one the same way, but I was doing it alone and the weather was against me so I did what any redneck would do under the circumstances. It has no bearing on its function so until it needs another one, I'm leaving it like that. I may buy another one soon just to have on hand in case the A/C goes out. My unit is in full sun and that can take half the life out of a capacitor. My previous one went bad in only 3 years because of it. After cleaning the coils, this job would have cost any homeowner $500. I'm amazed at how easy this job was and am very pleased with the capacitor and highly recommend it.

Followed YouTube instructions. Same specs as the original, turned the breakers off !!! DRAIN the CAPACITOR by shorting it with a screw driver or you can get a ZAP. Take a picture of the colored wires and where they go and replaced them on the same location on the new one.

My old 97 Keep-rite A/C unit was dead. Researched the potential cause and replaced the cheapest part, the old capacitor, pictured, with the new Power Well. Approx 1-2 hours including clean up. Starts and runs well. Please review the instructions from, *The do it yourself HVAC guy on YouTube.*
