400W Power Inverter DC 12V to 110V AC Car Charger Converter with 4.8A Dual USB Ports and 2 AC Outlets Car Adapter (Black)

It is interesting that a 400W product can connect to a cigarette lighter outlet - there is a reason most of the small cheap inverters are 140-150W - as that reaches the 10Amp draw from the vehicle, and many of these vehicles will have a limit right in that area, not many will go above 20A anyway... So, if you actually draw 400W you may be out of luck.. but regardless, I had an issue with an Apple laptop PS that was marked 140W, and it kept overloading/kicking out the little ole 150'watter i had from back in the day. it did the same to the vehicles built in 110V outlet - i dont know what its limit is but probably the same. With this 400W unit it now works fine, and so far it has not blown any fuses in the 2 cars i tested it. The company gives you 5 year warranty if you register and do this review - so i assume the products are built to last. It does have a loud fan in it, but if you know something about inverters and low voltage, that is to be expected. The cord is a bit short, like a foot and a half - but for most locations that is enough to let the unit rest in some cubby/whole while plugged in.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well this worked. We had a 15-hour drive and this thing kept all of our cell phones charged and happy (two 110ac plugs and 2 USB plugs). Including my Tom Tom GPS navigation. I was worried that it would get really hot and be a fire hazard, but the fan inside works perfectly. The fan is a little loud if it ever grows quiet in the vehicle, but worth it to keep it running. I love the hard metal case. It feels really well built. It was wonderful, and we will enjoy this for many years to come.

Does quite well. Does get a little hot pulling the amount of watts its rated for. Ive had it shut off a few times but I use it alot so not often. Fan is not the quietest but its not terrible either.

I saw 400w and thought 'Great' this is just what I need, actually, I thought it was more than I would need but opted for the extra wattage to make sure. I was mistaken. I received the item, well packaged and very promptly. I ordered it because my wife has almost constant back pain, we were leaving on a long drive and a heating pad at home usually gives her a lot of relief. We were preparing to take a 10-hour drive to the beach for a week's vacation, so I was in a bit of a hurry and never checked it out until we were leaving that morning. After plugging it into the power outlet in the car it fired up and seemed just fine. I plugged our phone chargers into the two USB outlets and they began charging right away. But, when I plugged in the Heating pad for my wife's bad back, the unit immediately shut down. I unplugged the phones and tried again and it wouldn't power the heating pad at all. I was confounded because the heating pad only required 180w of power. So, we had to make the trip without the heating pad. Upon returning home I began to read the papers that came with the 400w unit again and In the fine print on the paper enclosed with it, it says it won't power devices that are over 150W. I was not aware of this limitation, and I'm not sure it is something most people are aware of. Anyway, the company did reach out to me to attempt to rectify the situation. Could you give us a chance to make you 100% Satisfaction? We appreciate and value your shopping experience. The cars cigarette lighter only support the power in the range of 150w. If you need to charge over 150w, please use battery clamps to connect the power inverter to your vehicle’ battery as most vehicles 12V ports are rated and fused for 150w. This is the car's protection device limited." I responded by explaining that I didn't know this info, and that they should have posted it in the description to prevent confusion by anyone else. They were very nice and handled all our back & forth communications in a very professional manner. We were able to reach an amicable agreement regarding the unit and I must say I am very pleased with the results. I would do business with this company again.

Got this to run a baby bottle warmer rated right at 400W (actual is 358W based on my kill-o-watt). Unfortunately, this was not able to run that device. After talking to the seller, they recommended a pure sine wave inverter as certain devices need a proper electrical signal compared to this modified sine wave inverter. The new inverter (different brand) worked perfect with my bottle warmer. I decided to test a few other things I had around the house while I had the inverter. It worked perfectly for my cell phone and laptop. I also ran a small 125W stick vacuum off of it with no issues. This was all with the cigarette port (rated right around 150W in my car). I'm rating this 3 stars as the device does work fine for charging small items, just not more complicated devices. The seller has adjusted their posting to reflect this and has been really responsive in their communications. If you need to run a bottle warmer or equivalent device, I'd recommend buying a pure sine wave inverter instead.

Having reviewed many different options for car power inverters, I purchased this one. It seemed substantial with its heavy gauge metal housing. However, the car adapter itself was very fragile and broke within a short period of time and was not usable. Thinking was perhaps just a freak occurrence I replaced it with an identical one, which also broke very shortly in the same way. No abuse involved, just bad product design. The “cap” on the adapter is female threaded and screws on to male threaded end of the adapter body. However, the male threaded end is very flimsy and snapped off on both of them, with no ability to reattach the cap. You’ll be deeply disappointed if you buy one of these. See pics below of the issue…
