Work as expected. Great option but not cheap, 3d printed options are far cheaper but don't look anywhere near as good as these. Far more practical to use than the rear slot mounted ones, especially for machines where you are changing operating systems frequently.

As much as I wanted to keep using old mechanical drives, they're just a dying breed and I needed to find a way to transfer files on and off my vintage PC builds more easily. Combined with smaller CF cards (you can still buy 32mb or 64mb CF cards new on Amazon), I got a 486 up and running with this quite easily. I had a really old 286 laptop that needed a little extra help in the BIOS to recognize it, but ultimately it works great there now too. Dunno what I'd be doing without this item.

And it does it nicely as well. It comes with a 3.5 inch mount, and includes a rear panel bracket if you want to have it stick out the back of your OC instead. All in all, it's a pretty sturdy little device that works well.

I bought this in lieu of a similar device at Monoprice because Monoprice wouldn't ship it in an ideal amount of time. The price is steeper than I'd like to pay but I was in for a nice surprise when I found out the item includes both a 3.5" bay adapter and a rear bracket adapter, allowing you to choose where to mount it. I wanted to mount it on the rear but conceded in order to get one in a timely fashion. Having the option was a good treat, meaning I can keep the front of my retro PC in a relatively single-tone. The card reader itself works great. I successfully installed Windows 98 on the 32GB CF card I bought and I intend to install Me and 95 on two other CFs I've got handy.

I bought this to use in my IBM Aptiva 2176 computer so that I could install windows 95 on a Compact Flash and since this is a drive that I can access from the front of the computer, I can install win 95 and win 98 on a different CF card or even ME on one. This works great for those old retro computers.

The IDE version is a great device. Paired with the modified cf disk driver found on-line. It will mount like a real harddrive non removable fixed disk in windows 9x and xp .Great Ide harddrive replacement.

I'm using mine in an old DOS-based PC; it becomes drive "C" in that machine. Mounted in a spare 3.5" drive bay, this makes it easy to pop the card out and get immediate access to the entire "hard drive" from another machine with a CF reader and a little less worry about handling the guts of an open computer bay.

Les cartes flash normales vous lâcheront sans crier gare, les industrielles sont prévues interne pour fonctionner comme un hdd ide, dans la durée
