Works for use-case
This works to retro fit lightening based headphones to the USB-C port. Note: this will not work for car Audio/Carplay. You will need to look at a dongle that supports data transfer.

Works with Square card reader but used a lot of battery.
This does NOT work for charging. This DOES work for audio and therefore it works to adapt my Square card reader to USB-C for my iPhone 15 Pro. However, it does drain my phone battery. The Square reader didn’t drain my phone battery before, so it’s definitely the adaptor. Nonetheless, it is a cheap fix for my craft fairs!

Did not work on my system
The description was that it would transfer audio, which is did not. My setup was on a Bose V35 dock station. 30 pin female to Lighting cable that worked with an IPOD. Then the purchased cable lighting female to USB C male to IPhone 16e. System showed acquiring signal but would never connect.

Works great for connecting my old apple headphones to my new laptop. Glad I found this for my work

Make Use of Old Headphones!
I have dozens of older headphones that have the Lightning connector and with iPhone upgrades, I was unable to use my new, out of the box headphones. There are many connectors out on the market for Lightning to USB C but the DO NOT work for audio inputs. This one DOES! Several prior reviewers mentioned that in use, the "connection" gets hot. I have used this numerous times, for 3-hour long plane rides, and have not had any issue with it generating too much heat. It's worked well with my iPhone and iPad. I would highly recommend if you're looking for a cheap way to extend the life of your older headphones.

Simple Physics - it works
Rare that someone would need this but it happened. Solved my connection issue.

Sound is either ON or OFF
It does work, however, like the title says, you cannot make it any quieter! You can either hear sound, or not. The innability to lower the volume is saddening, as I have sensitive ears, and the volume is quite loud. If you like to blast your music or have bad hearing, this is definitely made for you. Additionally, it is larger than I expected. It is 14.5 cms long. It came in perfect condition and appears to have no defects. The sound quality seems a small bit worse, but I'm unsure if it's just because I don't listen to music this loud. The ports are made of made of plastic (the male C plug is metal, of course).
