Young Forever: The Secrets to Living Your Longest, Healthiest Life (The Dr. Mark Hyman Library, 11) [Hyman MD, Dr. Mark] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Young Forever: The Secrets to Living Your Longest, Healthiest Life (The Dr. Mark Hyman Library, 11) Review: Informative, Step-By-Step Program - Thank you @littlebrownspark and @netgalley for my advanced eCopy of this fantastic book by one of my favorite authors, @drmarkhyman. My thoughts are my own. “Learn how to get biologically YOUNGER while growing physically OLDER!” I have been reading the work of Dr. Mark Hyman for years, so I was very excited to get early access to this book. Dr. Hyman has a great way of explaining scientific/medical processes in a way that the reader without a medical degree can easily understand. This well-written and well-researched book is divided in three parts. In the first part, Dr. Hyman explains “How and Why We Age”. Yes, some paragraphs may take a second reading as you absorb what he is explaining, but I believe the explanation is critical to understanding the WHY of the program! (And, the explanation is what ultimately motivates me to make changes in my eating, movement, and lifestyle habits!) Dr. Hyman explains the breakdown of systems in our body causing chronic disease and inflammation. He discusses obesity and lack of sleep, as well as other issues. Before you get overwhelmed with what may already be wrong with your body, in Part 2, Dr. Hyman discusses “Optimizing Your Health Span and Life Span”. He explains how you can begin to eat, move, and improve your lifestyle in order to balance your biological systems and activate your repair systems. In Part 3, Dr. Hyman explains the Forever Young program. Dr. Hyman calls this is your step-by-step guide to “diagnose the imbalances in your system and to implement a radical change in your health.” (p. 163) Dr. Hyman discusses foods, the best diet, supplements, and more. Your daily habits influence how you age and with this program you can begin today to take steps to reverse this. I am implementing these changes in my life today! I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this book and truly plan to implement changes in my daily habits. This book is out now! Review: Practical guide for a well living life - I’ve just finished this fascinating read, and what a true guide to living well. The author presents the principles of a long-lasting, healthy life in a clear, approachable, and engaging way. It took me some time to work through the book, not because it was difficult, but because it offers so many valuable insights worth reflecting on and gradually applying. This is the kind of book that invites a slower pace, encouraging you to absorb and personalize the ideas along the way. You might notice all the notes and highlights throughout, I plan to return to it often as a reference to revisit, refine, and realign my habits over time. Highly recommended reading!

Vital Info for Living More Healthfully in One Place
Love: Dr. Hyman's efforts to bring good science about how to become healthier, stave-off or reverse/slow disease processes in an affordable manner to the masses. The Function blood testing panel he recommends is excellent. I know of many who have spent $4000.-$10000. to have these tests done that are not covered by insurance, but are necessary to more accurately one's health and health trajectory. $499. for the blood test panel Function offers is outstanding. I've spent $240. for just one of the tests offered and he offers approx 100. Additionally, Function makes suggestions on what improvements to make based on the results. I think it's totally worth it to read the book and have the blood panel done. Need Improvement: Ease of understanding. It's true, you can't 'dummy down' the science because nuance is necessary and is the point of individualized customized medicine. I've recommended or given the book to several people; some find it too hard to follow and others find it refreshing. The former appreciate the information but the way the book is written makes it feel too complex. I think it's a matter of format. Again, it's hard simplify something that necessarily requires educating people on complex topics in order to retain content integrity. Suggestion: Although the book offers the line about how some will go all out and some will not, it might be helpful to include what benefits are derived at varying levels of program implementation. Although it's vital and admirable to get the information out, people can feel discouraged and not try at all if the program feels financially out of reach or too complicated.

Surprisingly advocates for a Kidney test which is known for inaccuracy
The Book is packed with a lot of excellent info. But what surprised me and in fact upset me was in his guide for testing that he advocates for his own company: 499 for a complete panel. The Test includes a kidney test based on Bun and Creatinine (Page 175). These tests base your estimated GFR on Creatinine which is a byproduct of your muscles using creatin for operation. While Creatinine is harmless the kidney removes it none the less. But studies have shown that for intense athletes, body builders etc. the test produces estimates that are incorrectly way negative since these people produce way more creatinine than the average public. In addition, many athletes and gym enthusiasts use a supplement called creatin which further destroys the results of these tests. What is more surprising is that there is a cutting edge kidney test that is far more accurate and not subject to these confounding variables. It is called Cystatin-C. Despite the author's claim of being on the cutting edge The author never mentions this far superior Kidney test.

I’m approaching my 40s, and every year it feels a bit more challenging to stay fit, healthy, and full of energy -especially with two kids, which definitely drains a lot of power. Recently I decided to take my health more seriously, and I came across this book after seeing it recommended on a health channel on YouTube. This book helped me understand the basics of nutrition, calorie intake, and food choices in a simple, practical way. It made it much easier to walk through a supermarket and clearly see which foods support my energy and well-being, and which ones tend to drain it. There’s also another great book from the same author focused specifically on cooking—I believe it’s called How Not to Die Cookbook. I own that one as well, and it’s an excellent companion to this book. Overall, Young Forever has been a very helpful guide in improving my daily habits and understanding how to support my long-term health.
