Another impressive tool from Launch
There are several aspects of the Creader Elite tool that stand out to make it the top of my list when I'm working on a Mercedes. The first part I really like is the amount of information that I can get access to with this tool. The software on the tool will communicate with every module on the vehicles I work on (I work as an auto technician and have for 28 years). Being able to see what the computers see as the inputs and outputs is crucial to accurately diagnosing these vehicles. Since there are anywhere from 10-60 modules on modern Mercedes controlling everything on the vehicle I want to see which ones have codes and be able to run tests to see what isn't working. The second thing that is really impressive is the depth that the software has to not only see the datastream but perform actuation tests as well as go through and perform calibrations and service functions. Having these abilities means this tool can perform resets and in many cases do dealer level service functions. The third thing I find really helpful about the Creader Elite is just how easy it is to use and navigate. The main menu is laid out very well and the speed of the processor is easily on par with other scan tools I have. The service functions can quickly be accessed from the home screen so instead of having to navigate to the correct module to perform a function you can go right to the menu and get to it quickly. Updating this tool has been super easy when updates are available there's a little red icon on the update button and it is just a few clicks to get the most up to date software. This Creader can also make a shareable report showing the results of the testing and then send that to either your own email or a customer's email which makes this really professional and perfect for pre-scan and post-scan showing that a code is now gone or making sure what codes were present when a technician started working on a vehicle. Something else I have really liked about this tool is that there is no battery for me to maintain or worry about. Almost all my other tools I have to make sure they are charged because many of them won't power up from 0% and still run the operating system so it throws a wrench into my process having to wait but not with this tool I can jump right into diagnosis. Overall I have zero issues recommending this tool because of the functionality of the software the ease of use and depth of information and functions this little tool can do it's an easy choice.

Versatile and Feature Rich
I have several scanners that I have acquired over the years for Mercedes and other cars I've owned. Those include a DAS/Xentry clone, Autel MaxiDAS DS808, iCarsoft MB II, iCarsoft MB V3.0, BlueDriver, and now this LAUNCH X431 (Creader Elite MB). All of those scanners compare favorably, but have different price-points. The DAS/Xentry clone is the tool dealerships use but should only be used if you KNOW what you are doing. Otherwise, you may end up bricking your car's ECU. The Autel scanner can do nearly as much as it is intended as a shop-level tool and it is a little more pricey than most driveway mechanics want to spend on a tool. The last group including iCarsoft, BlueDriver, and this tool (LAUNCH) will let most people do what they want for just a little more than a single trip to the dealer will charge to diagnose a problem. They currently range in price from $100 to $160. Things I like about this scanner: * It does everything the iCarsoft and BlueDriver scanners can do. * It's cheaper than the iCarsoft scanner. * It updates easily over WiFi directly (versus downloading software updates via a Windows app - iCarsoft). * It's a little faster to do a complete automatic scan than the iCarsoft scanner. * It allows you to generate and email scanning reports with a single touch. * Optionally, you can purchase other vehicles to add to the scanner (it's multi-vehicle) rather than being limited to only one brand of vehicles. Things I dislike about this scanner: * If you have used other scanners, such as the Autel or iCarsoft scanners, the LAUNCH requires some familiarization -- it's not immediately intuitive. However, if you understand that and are willing to learn how to use it, that "drawback" is easily overcome. All-in-all, this is a great little scanner for the price and will do just about anything most DIYers will need to do. I have long been a proponent of vehicle-specific scan tools for anyone that owns a modern car. (Generic OBD scanners are limited to the generic engine-related codes, but vehicle-specific scanners do much more than that.) You may not know how to fix something, but it is always good to know what the problem is to avoid expensive trips to the shop. Many problems are simple, isolated incidents and can be "fixed" by clearing stored codes, such as codes stored because you forgot to put the gas cap on or you replaced the car battery.

Pay new price for used merchandise
This item was ordered on 9/9/25 and sold as new. It had 6 stored reports on the device from 8/17-8/22/25. The battery will not charge and can only be viewed when plugged in. It does scan. It work fine on my 2019 sprinter as well as the previous purchasers class 20 and SL 500 model Mercedes.

2023 LAUNCH (x431) CReader Elite for Benz
I purchased the 2023 LAUNCH CRE Benz for a buck twenty and I thought it was a good deal for a handheld diagnostic tool. You DO NOT need to purchase any software subscription for reset functionality if you're working on either a Mercedes Benz, or a Maybach, or a Sprinter. However, from what I understand, not all functionality is available for later model vehicles. This diagnostic tool has performed well by helping me track down a few pesky problems with, not only, Mercedes-Benz but I also diagnosed a few problems with a 2015 BMW X5 xd35d turbo-diesel through reviewing live data. Note: The BMW subscription isn't cheap IMO, but it saved time and gas by troubleshooting the problem before driving for hours to and from the closest BMW dealer. A recently updated Recall fixed the X5 which saved her a boat load of money. I tracked down the problem and hours after finding the problem, they updated a Recall that covered her broken items. Literally, the engine was about to mechanically fail (a.k.a. explode). I have a W16303ML500 and it doesn't have all the newer tech but this diagnostic tool performs everything for this vehicle. All reset functions are available for my 20 y/o vehicle. The first thing I accomplished with this tool was to backup the variant coding for every module possible. I've coded a used replacement TCM, relearned key fob radio frequencies, reset oil service interval, read/cleared DTCs during diagnostics and troubleshooting, reviewed live data to isolate faults, and reset mixture/adaption data. Note: This diagnostic tool interacts with my 03 ML quite slowly (K-line); however, on a newer model vehicle like the aforementioned X5, the X431 chipset is quite responsive. Launch has made it incredibly easy to update all the software, as well as, easily purchase software for other brand vehicles through the Mall. You can research DTCs using their DTC Library. You can create and download diagnostic reports sent to your email address. *** Con *** You are unable to either download, or transfer any recordings. That means any recordings of live data are NOT transferrable from the diagnostic tool. Note: there is a SD slot that is non-functioning at this time. Perhaps in the future, we will be able to transfer recordings to a SD card. ***Update 10/19/2024 SD card functionality is still disabled.*** In the end and for the price, IMO you can't beat this diagnostic tool for Mercedes-Benz, Maybach and Sprinter vehicles. It is affordable. It performs every task that I need it to perform and then some. Not to forget free Maybach/Mercedes/Sprinter software updates for life.

This unit can program Mercedes modules.
On my 2010 Mercedes C300, I encountered multiple errors on the speedometer screen. I can't seem to upload the images, but one indicated power steering malfunction and the other started with "BRAKE" on the top followed by EDB, ABS and ESC inoperative. With my old Carsoft MBII scanner I found the a "N30/4" ESP control unit internal fault error. After a lengthy internet search I was confident it was the ESP module itself. On Youtube many showed how to replace the unit but not the programming part. I purchased a used ESP module on Ebay and when I initially installed it, it was not recognized by my car. More internet searches indicated that the unit must be programmed to match my car. In this case, the VIN number must be updated in the module. The Launch X431 Benz unit was able to do this and was recognized by my car, but still did not function. I had to go through many setting in the X431 and reset many stored codes. Once I had the right combination, the ESP module functioned normally without errors. As others indicated, this unit is not totally intuitive to use, but after going through many screens and reading the text, the functionality becomes more obvious. There is definitely a short learning curve to program a module. When I got my unit in Sept 2023, there were 7 updates that could be downloaded and installed. The update function needs the WIFI connected to the internet. The unit automatically selects all of the updates at once, I found that if you select a smaller number of updates, the process goes faster. But I still had to pause and restart the process for the larger updates. For a $119 on a lighting deal, this unit is excellent price. And it still can read OBDII on for any car.

The best tool for Mercedes R350
Bidirectional scanning works extremely well, I performed the transmission programming after the change of conductor plate, then I identified some issues in engine sensors. When you turn on, need to connect to your wifi, run the update, then is ready to use. 10 over 10. Thanks

orks very well, somewhat unintuitive but once figured out it is -- PROBLEMATIC DEVICE
I have scanned 2 cars now, a 2001 CL600 and a 2012 GL450. The scanner did a good job on both cars. It took awhile to learn how to send the report to the email I had registered the scanner at -- it doesn't make a lot of sense how it is done as it is buried in an unrelated menu option. The instructions in the box are minimal, there is much more info in the Amazon listing. This unit is not supported by the US operation of the company so if you do need any support it will go to China. It took forever to boot up the first couple of times I plugged it into USB power but it finally did and I was able to set it up then send the reports off. (This is an excellent feature so you can have the report on your computer). I got mine on sale for $119 which was an excellent price. It compares very favorably to the iCarsoft I have, and has more useful features. UPDATE -- INSURMOUNTABLE PROBLEMS I returned the first unit because it mostly did not power/boot up when plugged into USB power with the included cable. It has to power/boot up to set it up and then to upload any saved scans if you have no wifi access when plugged into a car. It would power up fine when plugged into the OBD port in a car, and do the scans, and it worked well. I just got the replacement and it will not power up when plugged into USB power either on a charger or computer USB port. A friend bought one and had exactly the same issue, returned it and is giving up on the replacement. Note that the first one did power up after several hours of rebooting to the start splash screen and finally booted into the main menu. After setting it up it would sometimes boot right up, other times not at all, or after hours of having fits. Other than this issue which really diminishes its usefulness, the scanner does a very good job at scanning multiple Benzes so from that aspect it is a decent unit for the money. I will not fool with this thing any more, too bothersome, it is going back for good.
