Bought it for the unusual lemon flavor, rarely found in a protein bars. Is best when kept cold in the fridge. Tastes just like a lemon dessert, so it's great for cravings. Could be softer to be a 5 out of 5.

I love its lemon taste, and that the texture is ‘t completely like a pencil eraser. I will purchase again.

These bars were dry and tasted off, no surprise given they expired July 2021….

I ordered these in Lemon Cake, Chocolate Deluxe and Chocolate Mint Cookie to try them out. Love that I can get 19 - 21 grams of protein in a "meal bar". I found the chocolate deluxe bar to be a bit gritty which I account for by the amount of protein they put in the bar (21 grams) with 17 carbs and 180 calories, but had a nice brownie-type chew to it. The chocolate mint cookie was good, but not as minty as I was expecting (with 19 grams of protein, 20 carbs & 180 calories). The lemon cake bar I was really surprised. It was very tasty, not gritty, had a nice lemon flavor (with 20 grams of protein), but was also the highest in calories with 200 and the lowest in carbs with 16. Any of them eaten with a hot beverage definitely takes the hunger pangs away. I have to say the lemon was definitely my favorite and worth the 200 calories as a meal replacement with a cup of coffee or hot tea. I'd give the lemon a 5 star and the two chocolates 4 stars just because they weren't quite what I was expecting.

I was looking for an alternative to my usual QUEST brand Cookies & Cream protein bars, mainly to have an occasional second option. I mostly use these kind of protein bars in "a pinch" when I need to go out, but my blood sugar is too low, or I'm hungry & don't have the time to cook something before doing so. I'm not very big on 'eating out' on the road. I try to keep a pretty strict diet of sorts & wouldn't touch fast food with a ten foot pole if I was starving. So, in those cases these protein bars generally serve the 2 hours (slightly more or less) that I might need until I can get some actual nutritional food in me. As I stated, QUEST Cookies & Cream has been my 'go to' protein bar for some time. I tried a few of their other options/flavors, but for various reasons the ones I sampled didn't make the grade. When I finally found these PURE PROTEIN (lemon flavored) bars, I was pretty enthusiastic. They exceeded the calorie intake of the QUEST bars slightly (by 10 calories) & were only 1 gram less in protein. The carbs were less (by 6 grams, but these contain NO fiber, whereas the Quest has 13 grams) & the sugar of the PURE PROTIEN was only 1 gram more (with only 3 grams more of sugar alcohols). I thought "1 gram, more sugar and 3 grams more alcohols, how bad could that be!?" Well, it was actually pretty bad. Normally half a Quest bar is what I'll eat on the fly, keeping the other half in the wrapper with me if I need any ore. This (1/2 bar) is good for 1.5 - 2 hrs, for me. With the PURE PROTEIN bars I could only manage to eat 1/3 of the bar due to the excessive sweetness, in comparison to my normal bars and their sweetness in general. Now despite this the bars did suffice to keeping me free of any of the downsides that come with hunger for about 1 hour, or more, but I didn't carry the remaining 2/3 because the thought of having to eat any more really put me off. NOT that they taste "bad" because they don't. They are just too sweet for me. Due to this I can't speak with much confidence on the duration of time they would subside my hunger (@ 5'7 165-170lbs), but again 1/3 of a bar did maintain me for at least an 1 hour, give or take. Its a shame they are so sweet because I do enjoy them until that excessive sugar taste that burns the throat hits me. I should end with mentioning that, though the potassium, iron & calcium content in both bars is essentially ALMOST identical, the sodium content of the QUEST bars (cookies & cream) are 160 grams greater. Which could be a plus, or minus, depending on what the user is in need of. I had these on my subscribe & save, but have since removed them & the ones that remain in my refrigerator will probably stay there a while, but they will definitely be used by me in the future. Lastly, if you're storing your protein bars for any length of time REMEMBER some of these bars do contain oils & because of that they SHOULD BE REFRIGERATED. However, they do harden upon refrigeration so be prepared to remove them prior to consumption for 1-2 hrs (at least, if not 24 hrs) so they won't be so hard to chew. I can't say I would buy these again, but if you do have a sweet tooth they might "perfect" for you.
