Took the CCRN in january and used this and Archers and passed with amazing score! It touches the basic things you NEED to know. If you are taking the CCRN this is all you need, the questions are harder than the actual exam. Good luck!

I purchased this in 2023 - it sat on my shelf until September 2025. Initially when I first started reading it, it was overwhelming so I put it down and forgot about it. Fast forward two years, I picked it up again and went HAM on it. Utilized google to assist in its material. Overall, it’s pretty good and has a good system. Some of it is outdated (practices change) but it gave me a good foundation to review off of. In addition, I downloaded an exam prep app which was very close to the information in this book. So, reading the book and using the app for two weeks, I was able to pass the CCRN with a score of 117 out of 125. I’d recommend this book to anyone who has interest in learning.

This book has a wealth of information to assist with passing the exam. I found it extremely helpful.

Very helpful starting point for CCRN studying. Well organized but not completely comprehensive- for example I had questions on Hepatitis and specific spinal cord injuries which isn’t touched on in this book. Besides that very good overview with starred ‘important information to know’ of many topics and disease process throughout the book that was helpful. I’ve done all questions online and in book and even reviewed and retook quizzes in book until I scored higher/understood the knowledge. I probably done about 800 questions total. Also mini quizzes after each section in Barron book. Definitely recommend spending atleast a few weeks to 2 months studying. I also took a 2 day course through my employer that was very general. I also paid for criticalcareacademy online videos and questions (somewhat helpful). Out of these 3, Barron was definitely the most in depth and to the point - very helpful but I do recommend atleast another source/question bank. There are Pictures throughout the book as well. It was my first time taking exam and passed! P.S. 1.5 Years MSICU - took exam now as I heard the future updated CCRN exam that is scheduled to be release towards Fall of 2025 would possibly include more device/disease questions related to CCRT, EVD, Impella, more EKG strips etc. Best of Luck to those studying!
