Automotive Oscilloscopes: Waveform Analysis

It gives good information on known good waveforms. I also like the fact that it explains why the waveforms behave as they do.

This book has good waveform analysis, as it says, does not give information on where to probe on sensors. However it does give breakdown on different parts of waveform and their meanings. This extra knowledge is good for diagnosis on automotive sensors.

I am an automotive student at a community college. Our class doesn't start to study scan tools and lab scopes till next year during our engine performance year of the program. Being eager to learn I wanted to start studying on now to prepare for next year. if u need to learn the basics of oscilloscopes this is an amazing book. very good reference to known good wave forms. Which it went more in depth with bad wave forms but it literally covers every sensor, actuator or solenoid out there

Very well written books with a lot of detailed information but not overwhelming. Lots of good illustrations which make it easy to see what you're looking for when viewing waveforms. Information seems up-to-date and applicable to modern vehicles. I would definitely recommend this book for someone who wants to learn more about Automotive oscilloscope use.

Excellent book. Talks about different components and what good waveforms should look like as well as why they look the way they do. It also provides possible causes of non-conforming waveforms and what you’ll need to test them. It’s a great book for beginners. If you want to get maximum benefit from this book get under the hood and start scoping out stuff as you read.

This will not show you how to hook up a scope or even how to set it up. It will give you KNOWN GOODS which are invaluable. If you are new to scoping this book teaches you what a good waveform should look like and why they look the way they do. From there on you can identify which circuits and waveforms look off from what you’ve learned as a known good.

I purchased this for known good wave forms, which it does very well. Is not a trouble shooting guide.

Excellent book. Explains a majority of automotive wave forms. If you are interested in learning about automotive Oscilloscopes this book is a great place to start.

Good explanation of different types of waveforms. It doesnt teach you how to set up a scope like some complain in the comment, you should know what are trying to measure at first place, secondly as shown the good waveforms you get explainend you could easy find a faulty one on your scope. I can recommend this book for anyone who can think logical.
