The right tool for replacing shutoff valves
Used the compression sleeve puller today to remove four under sink valves. Plumbing is not my favorite home improvement project since it usually takes longer than expected, involves a trip or two to the big box stores and sometimes inevitably ends up with an expensive plumber at my house to fix the mess I create. Armed with this tool, some helpful videos on YouTube and four push-on Shark Grip caps, this project was a snap. The tool itself is very easy to use and the directions are pretty straightforward. I like that it was the metal tool was well made and durable. Once you screw the nut of the shutoff valve onto the end of the tool, a couple turns later and the compression nut slides right off your 1/2-inch pipe. The tool is also not very large, so it would work well in tight spaces such as under a bathroom sink. I feel like I should use this tool to replace all of my shutoff valves now since it made it so easy.

right tool for the right job
Very useful tool. It's well made and worked perfectly for me. It's just the right size for the copper pipe that feeds a lot of toilets. Also, there are lots of videos out there showing people how to use this tool so don't be shy. This tool is very easy to use. If you need to remove that old sleeve from the pipe, you need this tool so you don't damage the pipe. It also arrived quickly.

Gets the job done painlessly!
I am an advanced DIYer but plumbing is my nemesis. Overhauling a bathroom, both of the 60 year old 1/2" compression shutoffs for the faucet began dripping not long after pulling the vanity out, about a gallon per day each. They were shot. From past experience, I knew removing the old ferrules was a potential problem, so I ordered this tool. Removing the old valves was easy, then I threaded this puller into the back nut. About 15 turns later, the old nut and ferrule were off! The tool did exactly what it was supposed to do. As a tool nerd, it doesn't have the feel of a "professional" puller. The threading was a bit loose and coarser and it probably wouldn't hold up to everyday, long term use. But for a DIY guy, it's exactly what I needed, at a reasonable price. I do suggest using some WD40 on the shaft threads to smooth things out but that should not detract from the tool's performance. I cut back the copper to before the old ferrule's location, cleaned it, and installed new 1/4 turn valves. Turned the water back on, and had no leaks whatsoever. For the price and function, it earns five stars.

Worked perfectly.
It worked perfectly. Still took some muscle to get it off, and that was after I cleaned the copper pipe with some steel wool, but it came off cleanly, with no damage. I am pretty sure that would never happen without using this tool.

Absolute Lifesaver for Plumbing Jobs — Clean, Easy, No Damage
If you’ve ever tried removing an old compression sleeve and nut without the right tool, you already know how frustrating (and risky) it can be. This **compression sleeve puller tool** completely changed that experience for me. I had a stubborn ferrule on a shutoff valve that just would not budge. Normally, you’re looking at cutting, prying, or risking damage to the pipe — none of which are great options. This tool made it incredibly simple. It grabbed the sleeve cleanly and pulled it off without damaging the copper pipe underneath. That alone makes this tool worth it. The **build quality feels solid and durable**, not like some cheap, one-and-done tool. It has a nice weight to it and the threading operates smoothly, giving you controlled pressure instead of forcing anything. What I really like is how **precise and controlled the removal process is**. No slipping, no gouging the pipe, no guesswork. If you’re doing any kind of plumbing repair — replacing valves, upgrading fixtures, or fixing leaks — this tool saves time and prevents costly mistakes. Also, it’s compact enough to keep in your toolbox without taking up much space, but powerful enough to handle tough, old fittings. Bottom line: This is one of those specialty tools you don’t use every day… but when you need it, nothing else will do the job properly. If you’re a homeowner, DIYer, or plumber, do yourself a favor and have one of these on hand. It’ll pay for itself the first time you avoid damaging a pipe.

Worked as advertised. Removed the compression rings without damaging the copper tubing and allowed me to install new stops with new compression rings without any leaks. Fits North American compression ring threaded nuts. Useful tool to have in my plumbing tool kit.
