Did the Job But Hard to Clean Out Bait Well
Definitely works! We had a mouse in our storage shed that was defecating everywhere and mouse droppings can carry hanta virus and other nasties. I used the same bait this company makes and it did the job. I set the trap one evening and there was a dead mouse the next day. Clean kill, no blood or anything. I didn't even have to touch the mouse (I buried it in the garden and just opened the lid and shook it out). My only complaint, like others have noted, is that the bait well is hard to clean. The rest is easy. I used Dettol disinfectant wipes and had to use multiple ear buds to clean out the well and even then it wasn't totally clean. I reset the trap just in case there's more than one mouse hanging out. I would definitely purchase this again if I had a larger mouse problem, but it's good for the occasional rodent who decides to take up residence where he's not welcome! Update: 2 months later and I caught another mouse after rthe trap sat on the whole time! I was wondering if the batteries had gone dead but they hadn't until this one was killed. So 2 mice killed on one set of AA batteries. Cleaned it again using the Dettol wipes and ear buds but need to buy more batteries before I reset. If you have a lot of mice to catch, you might want to invest in rechargeable batteries because this trap sucks them dry, BUT IT WORKS. I stand by first review

Highly effective and good value for money.
I don’t normally leave reviews but after a year of ownership I thought it would be worth sharing my views on the big cheese mouse trap. I have had two mouse infestations in my garage over the last year. On the two occasions the trap has dealt with the problem swiftly. Others have reported the trap is difficult to clean. I have used a few bits of grated cheese and this has made things easy. Once the mouse is caught the trap is emptied and any cheese left in the trap just falls out with the mouse. Even if no mouse is caught, after a few days the cheese turns hard and just falls out when the trap is emptied. The trap has despatched several mice and the batteries are still going strong. I recommend this trap. It is easy to use, easy to empty and very effective. It is more expensive to buy than the simple snap traps but the convenience and efficiency make it (in my opinion), good value for money.

Initially 5 star but after less than a year down to 1 star
I feel I have to write this review as I feel consumers need to be aware that the traps cease to work after a period of little usage. Last year I purchased one of the traps and was astounded at how well it worked. I used to use humane traps but live in the countryside and found myself tripping out 1/2 mile from my house each day to let the little critters go. I cant put down poison as there is a resident owl and I wanted something which would kill the mouse without prolonging a death or maiming the animal. The trap worked a treat, catching at least 6 mice within a couple of days. I decided to purchase another two traps and placed them in prominent areas. Again they worked like a charm. The Spring came along and our lovely Summer and the traps were left down as a precaution. initially, then I removed the batteries and stored carefully until this Winter. I have now baited the traps for 6 weeks, changed the batteries several times and the mice are eating the bait and not one single trap has managed to kill a mouse in that time. I have now come to the conclusion that the traps cease to work after a short period of time. If the company Big Cheese see this review, they may have some advice for me, however I am now on the hunt for another type of trap as this has proved to be an expensive short term fix. If anyone can suggest a good trap please let me know. Thank You

Works great... Better than expected.
We are converting an old rural building, still have slate slab floors and walls with holes... Mice are an issue. Was using spring traps, the Big Chease ones, which work well untill the mice are breading at which point the smaller mice simply walk over the trap and nick the penut butter. Overall catch rate drops off to nothing and bait is still disapeering so we know there are still mice to catch. I spent ages looking at electric traps of all sorts and reading reviews. Bought the Big Chease unit, despite a couple of lackluster reviews, as it semed no worse than any other and was a good price from a well known brand. Well I am amazed... I dont think it kills everything that walks in but dosnt hang arround however I suspet this is by design. I think there is a delay to fool the mice into a false sense of security and let them chow down for a few seconds before despatching them. I saw review saying the mice know when electric traps are on, and they very well might, but the delay seems to teach them all is well... Untill it isnt, at which point it is too late. Spring traps were continually tripping and not catching anything, once that had benn down for 24 Hrs, clever mice!, this so far has fooled them entirly... The trap has been down since monday, mid morning... Took it out of th box, added penut butter and batteries and switched it on. Its now Tuesday early afternoon just about to go and take out mouse No 8, No7 was removed less than 15 mins ago... Way more nice than I thought we had having only seen/heard one very occasionally. Had I been in all day yesterday I suspect we would be well into double figures by now... A bit horrifying to be honest Trap No 2 just ordered just now, cant recomend this unit highly enough. I only review very good and very bad things... This is definatly the former... Al

Unfortunately I did not realise this clever trap is designed for INSIDE USE only. My mice problem is outside and this trap is not supposed to be wet - so sadly not suitable for me - and returned
