Great for speed, gaming and overclocking
Definitely speedy and a great compliment to 3000mhz RAM. I have it running cool under a corsair hydro h100i v2. Temps on idle sit between 23-28°c and it hardly goes above 40°c on load. Overclocking with X.M.P is a walk in the park. Had no issues setting RAM clock speed to 3000mhz and Intel turbo boost sets the cpu core clock around 4.2ghz. If you're looking to buy for gaming I'd reccommend this over x99 and it doesn't hurt your wallet as much, this CPU is actually faster than the 5820k despite the latter having more cores, the 6700k has better single core preformance (watch linustechtips as they're great for advice on this sort of stuff). Delivery was effecient and it was packed safely. And if you're wondering no it does not come with a stock cooler, those are an insult to this beast of a cpu, a hyper 212 evo (be careful with this, i had trouble installing on my asus viii ranger where it bent the pins because the cooler would not sit evenly for some reason) the corsair hydro h100i v2 (an amazing aio liquid cooler) or Noctua's NH D-15 all will do well to keep this monster cool. All in all this is a top of the range cpu for an okay price.

Fast Great CPU
Very Fast, great CPU I have Overclocked mine to 4.6GHz on 1.350V. It seems all Amazon stock doesn't seem to supply good overclocking CPUs. My original one was running stock at 1.38V and was running too hot (hotter then my current CPU OCd!), so I returned that and got a new one, which is the one I am running. Although I may be just unlucky since other people on the reviews section has done well with their OC. I am running this CPU with an Asus Maximus VIII Ranger Motherboard, and water cooling it with the H100i GTX. I upgraded from the i5 4460 with a MSI Z97 Motherboard, and there is a big difference when it comes to using virtual machines, virtualisation software (in general), video editing, and even gaming! GTA V does indeed run smoother with the i7 6700K on my computer compared to running it with the i5 4460. I am very happy with this CPU. I do not see what people are saying when they are saying this CPU is overpriced. It is only £20-£30 more then the 4790K and you are getting DDR4 support, and a wide range of other new features compared to the Haswell 4790K. I got mine for £280 from Amazon on 27th January so I have had this CPU for almost 2 months now, and my experience over the two months has been positive. If you are thinking of getting this vs the 4790K, I would choose the 6700K if you do not have the motherboard + RAM for the 4790K already.

Really powerful CPU
I had to build a new PC and I went for this processor. Is the first time I used an open processor, but this combined with a Noctua NH-D15 works like a charm. First thing is obvious, it doesn't come with a stock cooler. That is a point on favor rather than the opposite, as you can go with a personal cooler of your choice which may have better cooling capacity than the stock one. Moving to the performance part. It runs at 4GHz, and boosts up to 4.2GHz depending on the task. I am software engineer, so at some points when I need to do some heavy compiling I need to rely a lot on the processor. After some testing I must say that this processor is really powerful, didn't have any problems with it, I have been testing with different projects I was working with from really small tasks to some really heavy compiling and it does it smoothly. Bottleneck problems are quite common depending on the processor but I don't think you could have any problem with this one. As far as the overcloking goes I found it performs pretty stable up to 4.6 and 4.7GHz. I managed to run it up to 5.2GHz. That is a 30% more than the base 4GHz. I only used this for a specific purpose but is nice to see it can handle it (however it relies much on the voltage, so you don't wanna use it too often). Now all of this sounds good so far, however depending on the use you are gonna give to the PC you might one to go for a cheaper alternative. As I said I need to do some heavy compiling, so this processor is my best choice. If you are not gonna be using all the power of the CPU, you may wanna take a look at the locked 6700 or even go for a 4790K. So it really comes up to the use you are gonna be giving to your PC. For an average user I would go for a cheaper alternative.

Great processor, loads of power, great overclocking for a low enough price.
I got this processor in march 2016 for £275 I'm writing this review after using it for a year and 3 months in August of 2017 I've loved it, it's a power house, used it in loads of modern games with a GTX 970 and then a GTX 1070, it smashes anything i throw at it and can handle my Oculus games without even skipping a beat. it's probably going to age pretty quick thanks to the new, mainstream becoming 6 core processors soon, but we can hope games don't start taking advantage of more than 2-3 cores until about 2020 so we can get some use of of the 6th and 7th generation processors with 4 cores. (hyper threading isn't the best for games my mates i3 6100 duel core with 4 threads runs multithreaded games like crap) ohh and this thing overclocks pretty well to 4.7Ghz ish at the 1.39-1.42V range and most chips getting to 4.8ghz with about 1.45V If you get a good chip 4.9Ghz will happen at 1.4V still And 5Ghz I've seen one guy hit with 1.44V (wow) and one guy had to go up to 1.583V (not reccomended) great processor but probably pick up a i7 7700k with a Z270 board instead of this with a Z170 board.

Superb performance at a price
Superb performance, however £307 is an awful lot of money for a CPU. Hopefully AMD will get their act together with the new Ryzen range and the competition will drive prices to a more affordable level. Bought this for floating point performance and it delivers. Dropping a star for high price. Highly recommend Noctua cooler with this (NH-C14S).

Air Cooled Stock Feequency Review.
This processor is by far the best I've ever had the pleasure of using thus far. Previous CPUs I have used include a variety of dual core CPUs aswell as a few quad core i5 variants. Let me say first of all, rendering on this processor is great and incredibly fast (around double the speed of any previous processor I've used) and so far the games I have played on the Integrated graphics have been surprisingly smooth with decent fps. I highly recommend this CPU to people who are serious about gaming and enjoy content creation. This in my opinion is a real sweet spot CPU. The only downside I see with this processor is the constant fluctuation in price but other than that for a CPU at stock frequency on air keeping temps of around 35°C under load I am really impressed and do not have a single grain of buyers remorse. Good job Intel as always.

Purchased for video editing
I feel I kind of lost the silicon lottery - I've only managed to cook it up to 4.6 ghz on nearly 1.4V and it keeps heating up. I'm not sure if it's 100% stable. Comes with a 100% legit Intel sticker tho, and nothing warms my heart as much as having this blinky thing on my workstation. What it does: -It does overclock easily -It does work with the freshest RAM memories on 3000mhz -It does 4k video rendering in no time -Editing pictures? Less than a second with HUGE 42mp files. -ACTUALLY turns the windows off before you hear the Shut Down tune, which is impressive -Can run for 24hours on 100% and won't crash. Very reliable in Boost Mode.

Excellent CPU for Gaming.
First ordered this with the MSI Z170A Gaming M7 motherboard. Had no end of problems with MOBO not posting. According to the MSI users forum this MOBO has a bad record of not working properly even after flashing BIOS with various DDR4 DIMMs and sometimes the CPU. RMA all my order back for replacement. CPU is probably OK but you never know with tech. Update: New CPU arrived but MOBO still on back order. I called Amazon and the guy on the other end refused to give me an alternative and said I had to wait for the replacement to be delivered.
