Does the job on bass guitar at a fraction of the cost
With arthritis spreading into my wrists and fingers, I felt my bass playing had become sloppy with some notes sounding louder than others. I have used Behringer products before and found them ok so bought the compressor to give me a little help. The CS400 does the job and my bass playing now sounds as even and percussive as it always was. At under £20, it is a bargain and is as effective as the more expensive boxes on the market. I only tweak the pedal but it is capable of far more and would recommend it. I have given 1 less star for durability as obviously metal cases are better but don't worry about the plastic casing, it's solid and should take the traumas of gigs easily and at this price you could buy several.

Good value budget compressor.
If you want to add a compressor to your set up without breaking the bank then give the Behringer CS 400 a go. It works.

Compression and sustain
Decent, cheap compressor sustainer. Behringer manage to make good enough copies of much more expensive pedals.

I'm puzzled why I didn't take the plunge soon!
Excellent and above and beyond 👌! Perfectly pure torns across all the strings and no variations in pitch! With an attack and sustain options that will greatly benefit your addition chosen pedal such as distortion, overdrive and my others. I'm puzzled why I went so long without one. I'm delighted I took the plunge 😁👍!

Very Useful on Any Pedal Board
This is the first Compressor Pedal I've ever used. Only ever used Built in Amp or Rack Compressors. I bought this based on reviews and I'm impressed. It balances the highs and lows nicely while giving a nice sustain. Gives a nice clean and clear clipped sound in clean playing. And smooths out the over tones in distortion sounds. My only criticism is there is a little bit of noise. But this was easily corrected using a noise gate/killer/suppressor. If your looking for a nice balanced sound, I'd definitely recommend this pedal. Another good Berhinger clone. A Compressor isn't a Thrash Metal Effect, set it, leave it. It's Plastic but it will last you, unless your a 'Who' Tribute Band. Or Elephant on Dope!

Sustainer?
If you have a problem with sustain, you have a problem with your guitar or your playing technique. If you're looking to even out slight level imbalances between strings, different guitars and/or your rhythm playing, then this'll do fine. Compressors work by turning down any signal that's louder than a predetermined level to bring the loud bits closer in level to the quiet bits and then turning everything up to an acceptable level. Bear in mind ALL guitar signal has some degree of background noise present, so when you turn up the quiet bits, you are also turning the noise up. Anyway, bought one of these (and a GE700) for my dear old Dad. I already own the Boss pedals that these are obviously cloned from - same colour schemes and similar model numbers? Who are they kidding? What can I say? It does everything it's supposed to do. I tested using an EMG equipped Strat through a Blackstar ID15TVP at my home - which was rewired a few years ago - and a new battery, so zero noise pollution. Is it noisy? No, not in the slightest. If you use an old/cheap guitar with dodgy soldering/wiring, through a high gain setup and valve amp, in a building with questionable wiring... well, ALL compressors are going to be very noisy. Why a quarter the price of the Boss? Made in China, (probably) using very cheap electronics with wide tolerance specs and the casing is moulded plastic. Like I said, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. The casing will only break if you're an idiot. The electronics? Who knows. Let's face it, if you're reading this you're either just starting out or strapped for cash, right? Yes, buy one of these, BUT do a little reading about what compression is about and don't expect miracles. This is a good piece of kit. The more expensive stuff is probably more durable, but by the time you break this, hopefully, you'll have figured out whether you really need one - I've rarely used one in over 30 years of playing.

Great for the price
If you don’t here a difference out of the box, play with a clean tone for a bit then turn it off.that’s when you hear what it’s doing BAD NEWS since I posted this review the pedal has developed a loud hissing sound and has become unusable cba to return

for this price you will not be disapointed.
from the off, ive heard all sorts of stories a about these pedal. all im going to sayu is if this pedal is in your price range this is the pedal to buy, constructed of plastic, its never going to be one you chuck about, but if you wanting a pedal that does the job, well and not going to leave you out of pocket, go for this pedal, its well made, decent sockets adjusters the lot. the compresser is very good, sustain is decent too, being using it with both over drive and distortion and it works an absolute treat. not a Boss Pedal, but a lot better than i expected. in fact so much , i bought 2 others from the range and there just as good :)

Ive been using this compression pedal for a while now and I’m really impressed it smooths out my playing nicely keeps the volume consistent and adds a nice touch to my tone without sounding artificial The controls are easy to adjust so I can dial in exactly the sound I want.

Great little pedal. Surprisingly durable for plastic. Good sound, even sounds pre good for a modern bass

This compression/sustain pedal is basic but very nice, also very reasonably priced. It gives the guitar a sweet, lingering tone, good for jazz as well as rock music, specially when playing lead. It really brightens up the clean tone of a Strat using the neck pickup. It also gives a nice long sustain when coupled with a distortion pedal at low or medium distortion. I don't think it's very useful at high distortion though.
