Meet the next generation of villains in Disney’s Descendants! Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost, home of the most infamous villains who ever lived, the kids of Maleficent (Kristin Chenoweth), the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil have never ventured off the island…until now. Sent to idyllic Auradon, to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, these villainous kids must execute a plan that helps their evil parents achieve “world domination” once again! Will Maleficent’s daughter (Dove Cameron) and the other rebel teens follow in their rotten parents’ footsteps or will they choose to embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom? Co-starring Booboo Stewart, Cameron Boyce, and introducing newcomer Sofia Carson, this wickedly cool comedy adventure is awesome to the core. Review: Great film - Great film series for kids Review: Unbelievable, but in a good way - As a dad, I enjoy sitting through new films for kids as much as my 8 year old daughter, unless they happen to feature Tinkerbell. As it is, this one doesn't, but it does feature a toothsome and clean cut cast, some catchy songs, and some great hamming up of a borderline camp script. While it does doggedly pursue its internal message of nature versus nurture, the primacy of being good over being rotten, and chaste happy endings, the production manages to be subversive and curiously watchable, due mostly to the performances of Kristin Chenoweth (who is laugh-out loud hilarious in her scenes) and Dove Cameron (who is a Disney-stable graduate yet to go the way of Miley and Britney), playing Mother and Daughter in a scenario cooked up by creatives and brought to life by Director Kenny Ortega, who brought us the juggernaut that is High School Musical. Songs, dancing, costumes and locations are all better than expected for a TV movie, and while some of the young cast struggle to find the right note (and technically the lip-syncing is shocking), you get carried along by the bow wave of cheeriness and attractive people doing reasonably unreasonable things, which tends to put a smile on your face. I was put in mind of Disney's 'Enchanted', not for its story themes, but for its energy and asides to a potentially older-than-demographic audience. I advise not being too precious about canon Disney Princess lore, and watch it with an open mind, as it really is a lot of fun.

Unbelievable, but in a good way

High School musical meets Once Upon a Time in this fun, musical adventure.
This was my first Amazon Video purchase and quite a good one if I say so myself. I've been a Disney lover since I could speak so the concept of the story ticked a lot of boxes. Right off the bat, this film is made for television and if you've seen any other Disney Channel DTTV films you'll know not to expect cinema level filmmaking. What you do get however is a fun, very amusing and interesting modern tale about the kids of your favourite bad guys and quite a heartwarming core of their struggle between the expectations of their parents and their own morality and independence. Of course in true Disney style this is wrapped in colourful and nicely done musical numbers, ranging from the broadwayish "Evil like me" to the pop song styled "If only"and even more modern numbers such as "Rotten To The Core". The film is also packed with Disney references and familiar and new characters. The highlight of the film is definitely the quartet of classic villains, condemned to domestic life on the Isle Of The Lost, watching the likes of Maleficent (a delightful Kristen Chenoweth) and Evil Queen (Kathy Najimi) interact and trade sour remarks is a particular joy, all four are perfectly cast also. The main group of heroes..well villains led by Dove Cameron's Mal are also very likeable, have a lot of chemistry and are easy to care for after little time has passed, bringing both the traits of their villainous parents and their own rebellious natures and eccentricities. Overall I'd certainly say this is well worth the watch for Disney fans such as myself and would serve well as a family film, undemanding and actually quite charming and most importantly for any Disney film, lots of fun. Recommended.

A brilliant film, we loved every minute of it.
Brilliant film, a musical type movie, the high standard expected from Disney. The story line is compelling, good verses evil, idea for all ages, very colourful, funny throughout.

From an Adults perspective.
This is my first Prime Video rental. I will start by stating I am an adult male with a passion for all things Disney and I simply needed to see what all of the fuss was about with Disney’s Descendants. I also believe that cartoons aren’t just for kids and that you are no less manly for liking nice things or eating chocolate cereal from time to time 😁. This movie is definitely aimed towards children and teenage kids and in my opinion watchable as an adult but not so much, as to call it a family movie. The effects aren’t great which I somewhat expected for a movie meant for TV but the concept, music and vibrant colours are magnificent and as an adult, held my attention to a degree. I won’t be rushing to watch the 2nd one but I would be the first to recommend this movie to teenagers and children and cannot fault it considering the demographic it is intended for. As for the purchase itself; It was far too simple to purchase the movie via amazon with 1 click and no confirmation. I have since added a pin code in security settings so no accidental purchases can be made in the future. If you are a Disney fan or looking for a light hearted easy watcher and musical then this movie is for you. Check my other reviews to know I leave genuine and honest feedback.

A guilt pleasure of mine for 2015.Not bad
Surprisingly I enjoyed this movie. The songs were OK I guess, the acting was grand I liked Dove Cameron as Malficents daughter who falls in love with Beast and Belle's son Ben who is cute. I loved the effects in this film and I liked the ending as it was satisfying. If you love Once upon a time than check it out. Kristin Chenoworth's voice though irks me I just cannot sand her voice at all and I was surprised to see Kathy Najmy in this film having seen her in Hocus Pocas and of course one of my favourite comedies of all time Rat Race as the wicked queen. My only compaint I have with this film is a few things 1. Why is Cruella De Vil coloured she is white? 2. Auroua isn't dark either she is fair skinned and fair haired. 3. The ending was good but I could smell it a mile away. 4. Songs were alright not my cup of tea. Overall though I enjoyed it for what it was as I heard alot of people saying it was very good and having not the Disney Channel TV channel anymore I was glad I got it at a reasonable price. And hey its directed by the same guy who gave me my favourite Disney guilt pleasure movie the High School Musical Franchise.
