Product Description The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back in this all new action packed movie. Tech-industrialist Max Winters is amassing an army of ancient monsters to apparently take over the world, and only one super-ninja fighting team can stop them those heroes in a half shellLeonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael! With the help of their rat sensei, Master Splinter, and old allies April ONeil and Casey Jones, the TMNT are in for the fight of their lives in this all new CG-animated action adventure movie. With a fantastic voice cast including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Patrick Stewart and Lawrence Fishburne. desertcart.co.uk Review From a visual standpoint, this CG feature starring the venerable '80s and '90s superheroes the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is nothing short of slam-bang; the computer animation has a scope and look that transcends both the original comics and animated series and the three live-action features that preceded it. Writer/director Kevin Munroe creates a striking animated world for the four heroes in a half-shell to live, play, and fight in, and the action sequences are occasionally breathtaking in their speed and complexity. But where TMNT stumbles is its bland plot, which picks up after the last of the live-action features with all four teen turtles in disarray, and abandons longtime villain Shredder in favor of an industrialist (well voiced by Patrick Stewart) who recruits the Foot Clan (including Karai, played by Zhang Ziyi) to revive thirteen ancient monsters to aid in his world domination scheme. It's a simple and fun story for kids, but longtime Turtles fans will miss the wry humour and smart sense of irony of the original comics (created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, who gets an executive producer credit here) in this storyline. Still, for most adolescent audience members, such concerns won't matter a whit in the face of the abundant action. --Paul Gaita Review: Turtle Power! - The Turtles returned with a great movie. Yes it lacks Shredder and Krang, however the story is excellent and a great voice cast for the various roles. Of course this will appeal to all of us who grew up watching the old cartoon show and the newer fans who grew up with the 2002 series. There are even references in the film to the older live action movies and the older cartoons. This is a great movie that will entertain all the family at an equally great price. Review: I love it!! - I bought this for my 2 year old nephew as he has started to love TMNT, I didn't know they had a film out until I purchased this and I love it just as much as he does! The quality is great and the price is even better! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to buy a gift for a TMNT fan!

Turtle Recall
TMNT opens a few years after the Shredder's defeat and the turtles are now a seemingly disillusioned and disparate group, both lacking focus and a leader. Under orders from Master Splinter, Leonardo is absent on a training mission in Central America. Raphael, ever the volatile powerhouse of the team, is venting his anger on the lowlife of New York City by masquerading as the feared vigilante, the Nightwatcher. Meanwhile, Michelangelo and Donatello also seem preoccupied with alternative careers as children's party entertainer and IT specialist respectively. Old friends of the team, April O'Neil and former vigilante Casey Jones, are now in business together locating and shipping ancient relics as well as being romantically involved. This, somewhat convenient development, is where we are also introduced to the main plot point as April delivers the last statue of a group of ancient generals to her wealthy client, Max Winters. Without giving too much of the plot away, Winters is cursed with immortality due to dabbling with dark magic several thousand years ago as the warlord Yaotl. As a result, his four friends (and trusted generals) were turned to stone and thirteen monsters were unleashed upon the world. Winters then spent his life and his fortune gathering the lost generals so that he might recapture the thirteen monsters and finally free them all of the curse. As such, it's quite a workmanlike prophecy/planets aligning plot with very few surprises but then this is only a PG. TMNT ditches the over-used "Cowabunga!" and surfer dude-isms of previous versions in favour of more organic dialogue as well as toning down the silliness of the two younger turtles (Mikey and Donny). The key scenes in the film largely involve Leonardo and Raphael as they both struggle with their failing relationship as brothers and warriors and their responsibilities to each other and to the team. For a PG movie, this is handled perfectly and, when the inevitable showdown between Raphael and Leonardo finally happens (on a rain-soaked rooftop, of course), you really feel the conflict within these characters. This conflict is the central emotional thrust of the film, coupled with ideas of loss and belonging. All the characters in the film are lost in some way and all feel their allegiances being challenged in one way or another. The film feels a little short at 87 minutes and rushed where a little more pacing might have served it better but, it rattles along at a fair old pace and never allows itself to get boring or unnecessarily mawkish. Being a PG, there's a lot of exposition and the soundtrack does err towards punk-pop and schoolyard rap but, thankfully, it doesn't jar even though the score itself is quite adequate. Truth is I bought this film for myself (having recently uncovered my old Eastman & Laird TMNT comic books). As it happens, my son (2) and daughter (4) both love it and now regularly ask for it. With the relationship between the turtles and not the martial arts element being at the forefront, I'm very comfortable with my children watching this. At least until my little boy lays me out cold with a broom handle, that is.

Writing this as a dad
My 4-year-old saw this on TV and it just caught his imagination right away. Since we bought the DVD he's watched it almost every day and never seems to tire of the nonstop action this movie offers. As a Dad, I remember growing up with the original Turtles so I was able to see right away that this movie is very different to those of 'yore', however it's far more action-packed and I guess if the Director and Creators were reading this review I couldn't give it any higher praise than a four year old little boy declaring it the best DVD he's "ever seen, ever!" If you have a little boy who's pretty hyper, loves things like Sonic, this should be right up their street.

Great film
I found this film very entertaining and amusing with excellent animation and fight scenes. It is a great story and shows the lives of the turtles once they have grown older.
