It works !
We have tried several devices to reduce the pulling from our strong Labrador. He gets overexcited and will walk nicely until something interesting appears and then dislocate my shoulder by rushing off to investigate. This is by far the best and is working for us. It’s a bit fiddly to put on - not helped because our dogs are very excited at walk time and jump around, so maybe not an issue for everyone - if your dog will stand still and lift front paws when needed you will be fine.

It works - stops my sled dog from pulling me up the road
This is now my third non-pull harness from Sporn - not because they break or anything but because my “medium sized” dog won’t stop growing. We had a medium sized one when he was a pup, when that got too small we upgraded to a large and now that’s also too tight so I’ve had to get the biggest size possible. He’s a German shepherd husky cross and is bigger than either breed is usually, so I bought the biggest size as I can always make it smaller by using the straps - no need, it fits fine, assuming he doesn’t get any bigger. So - apart from the dog growth issue - how does the harness hold up? Well being husky all he wants to do is yank my arms off whenever he goes out. He’s better off the lead than on it - as soon as you connect something to him he’s straining against it because he wants to lead all the time. Not on my watch - I hate having a dog that isn’t under control and constantly resisting a lead. We’ve tried the head collars and all he does is scratch at his face with his claws and keep rubbing his head against my legs, knocking me over, so that’s also not a solution. At least with the harness he doesn’t do that and this actually seems to work. If he starts pulling a simple tug against it stops him and he falls back into line again. This makes walking him easy and pleasurable again unlike a regular collar where he just charges off and I can’t even manage to lock the car before he’s dragged me up the road.I can’t be without something like this as he is a large dog and needs control otherwise he risks injuring me or both of us - this solves the issue and he doesn’t mind wearing it.Easy to get on as it has plenty of length to let it out to get his legs through and just slip the adjustable button down the length so it reduces the slack again and we’re good to go. I can even hold onto that instead of putting a lead on the end as there’s plenty of length enough to have him at a heel (due to his height, his shoulders are up by my hands so I have a good foot of harness length) or I can attach a lead and let him have a bit of freedom, depending on where we are.The harness is sturdy and I would guess at washable as it looks like it would survive a round in the washing machine if necessary. If you have a unruly dog then I would suggest you invest in one of these as it can make life so much easier. The price is good too as I was looking at other harnesses and some were 3 times the price yet I can’t see how they would stop his pulling as they sit around his chest, not under his armpits like this design. The idea behind this is pulling makes it uncomfortable (but not painful) so he doesn’t do it, whereas these other designs look like you are about to hitch the dog up to a sled which would encourage a husky to pull more in my opinion.Happy with this purchase - would recommend.

Good for 9 month old strong lab
This harness has been so good for our 9 month old lab, it’s comfortable for her and a gentle pull on it from us stops her from pulling and brings her back to our side. This helped a lot with her lead lose training. We also had a scare when she escaped her old harness and ran onto a road! This one gives us peace of mind because the harder she pulls the tighter is goes so there’s not much chance of her slipping out. We’ve had it now for around 4 months. We probably will need a new one soon and she has chewed it a bit so it looks a little frayed near where the lead attaches so I’m worried it may snap. It probably doesn’t last long hence the 4 stars but can’t really complain for the price!

One of the best things I've bought!
I bought this for my Cockerpoo (Cocker Spaniel x Poodle) 5 month old puppy after a walk together that had me in tears due to her pulling so much, being so disobedient, and causing me a lot of pain thanks to her efforts (I have hypermobility so her pulling on her leash caused my joints to dislocate and sublux). After extensively trying to train her to stop pulling and not getting very far (excuse the pun), I was at my wits end with her causing me pain and looked online for alternatives when I came across this harness. It was a miracle worker!Though it hasn't stopped her pulling on her leash completely, the way the harness squeezes at the front due to the mesh and the strap system means that she can't put as much force into it as its absorbed by the harness. Not only does this put her off pulling as much as it lifts her up when she pulls instead of propelling her forward as a leash/collar system would, it also means she can put far less pressure on my hands/wrists/fingers when walking her as the harness is taking the force rather than the leash, and by extension, my poorly joints! It took a little convincing for the first couple of weeks of use as she did not like having the harness on her when she went off-lead - she would run away from us when we tried to put it on. However, now she loves it and quite happily raises each of her front legs up when asked so I can put the harness on her easily before our walks. It's quite simple to tuck the harness extender into the harness straps when we wish to have her off-lead so she can run about without it hindering her in any way so that is not really a problem now that she is used to it.One observation that I would recommend dog owners to take heed of though is that on one occasion my dad walked my dog and she almost managed to bite through the harness extender when he didn't tuck it into the harness straps while she was playing off-lead. She did this very easily in one bite and caused a lot of damage with the harness extender (where you clip the lead on) beginning to fray and unravel so I have since bought her a new harness from the same company (in the large size since her head can no longer fit through the straps too well now that she's older!).Please check your harnesses frequently for any signs of damage as I was surprised how quickly ours managed to unravel with just that small bit of damage.Despite this, I'd highly recommend this harnes - especially to anyone who has difficulty walking their dog due to arm/shoulder/hand/wrists problems such as arthritis or any other joint pain, its made our walks go from unbearable to a daily pleasure!
