Mastering Copperplate Calligraphy: A step-by-step manual (Lettering, Calligraphy, Typography)

An exceptional book written by a consummate expert on the craft! I very much enjoyed to easy reading of the authors style. The book touches on the very interesting history of this style of Copperplate Calligraphy which is simply beautiful! I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and visit it often in my practice of the craft!

Very detailed book. Can’t praise it enough. Precise, step-by-step instructions for the perfect letterform. Anyone serious about learning calligraphy-don’t think twice, get this.

A clear and easy-to-follow guide to copperplate. It is 'dated' (published in 1989) in the sense that there's no links to web video showing copperplate in action. It would also be nice to be able to buy this book as part of a 'kit' which included the right pen, nibs, printed guide sheets and the correct ink. Copperplate is a lost art and while there are some video clips on the web the quality is mixed - some folk have a strange idea of what copperplate is! This seemed a good start for the beginner but advice from a real-life tutor would be beneficial - if you can find one.

Useful book.

Absolutely delighted with this book. I love that the author gives such great insights but also you have to put in the work to create your own copperplate writing. Lots of information, step by step guide, clear examples, concise letters. Just so happy I bought this book. The price is unbeatable truly

This is a book which will reward study. I hold English Round Hand (Copperplate) to be the most beautiful script. This volume takes you from an assumption of zero knowledge, bit by bit ,incrementally building to previous steps, towards mastery of the goal. I'm still on the journey, but it's a great fun and rewarding study, and has heightened my appreciation of beauty in script - this is a great eye opener and feeds the mind and feasts the eye. And it breaks down into steps how to get there ... which is so exciting & empowering

Fantastic step by step teaching book. Some people gave a negative review of this book because the author gives information on how to create your own guidelines and does not provide ready made ones. I mean.. If you are not willing to do it yourself than what are you even doing learning calligraphy? I actually love the fact that Eleanor gives such detailed instructions and teaches self discipline and patience, which are so essential if you are dreaming of becoming an amazing calligrapher. 5 stars and more!

Un libro excelente, explica claramente la forma de cada una de las letras y da ejemplos de los errores más comunes al ejecutarlas. No detalla florituras porque es una guía básica para escribir lo esencial del estilo. La distancia entre palabras y letras así como la forma de las uniones se describe sin complicaciones. Estoy muy satisfecho con este libro.
