40cm Lampshade Kit

This kit was brilliant! The accompanying video clip tutorial showed step by step exactly what to do. You need to take time and care but the results was fantastic. I’m thrilled with my lampshade and impressed with my new skill. 😉

A wonderful idea and REALLY easy to do. Instructions were clear and concise and I have ended up with a rather professional looking lampshade in the wallpaper of my choice for a very reasonable sum of money - it's a winner ! I think you have to have a degree of ability in the craft sense - you can't be completely ham-fisted (definately not a project for children to undertake on their own as its fiddly, especially towards the end) - But as long as you take your time, stay patient (!) and follow the instructions I think it would be very difficult to mess this project up. It took me a couple of hours from start to finish and I have received many compliments for my lampshade so I'm delighted.

I initially thought this product was overpriced and tacky. However, having actually used the kit and made a pretty decent, professional-looking lampshade from it, I am much happier. The parts in the box don't look much, but they do work, and they are of good quality.

I was really surprised how easy these are to use to make professional looking lampshades in your own choice of fabric to match your room. A little fiddly, so make sure you’ve got time & a clear space & don’t rush. Once I’d done the first one I was much more confident making more. I’ve made a few different shapes & sizes for my home, all of which I’m thrilled with. I began with a random pattern of William Morris leaf print ‘willow bough’. A pattern like this was easier to begin with than one that had a noticeable horizontal pattern like Strawberry Thief bird print I tried after. I did read they can be covered with wallpaper but I’d not recommend this although admit I haven’t tried. I found that the thinner the material that you use makes it easier to roll round & tuck in the metal rings. I think wallpaper would be too thick & cumbersome & would show creasing.

Love love love these kits although the inner white plastic liner of the shade is so tightly curled up the sticky tape supplied isn’t enough to keep it from coming away when assembled. Have bought a number of these and all do the same. Ended up glueing and then buying more clear double sided sticky tape as the tiny one supplied isn’t very wide.

Materiali di ottima qualità e non particolarmente difficile da realizzare. Invece di usare del tessuto ho usato la carta e questo ha complicato il montaggio perché una volta attaccata è definitiva. Ne comprerò sicuramente ancora, e li realizzerò in tessuto!

Ich habe den Lampenschirmbausatz für einen Ikea Standfuß gekauft, weil ich vom Vorhangstoff noch genug Stoff übrig hatte. Der Bausatz kam sehr schnell und war gut verpackt. Die Bauanleitung ist gut, man sollte sie sich aber zuerst komplett durchlesen und auch das Video ansehen, damit man genau versteht wie es gemacht werden soll. Ich fand, dass es sehr einfach ging und das Endprodukt sieht wirklich klasse aus. Ein absolutes Unikat, ich werde oft darauf angesprochen.
