StarTech.com 3 ft USB 3.0 to eSATA Adapter - 6 Gbps USB to HDD/SSD/ODD Converter - Hard Drive to USB Cable (USB3S2ESATA3)

It is quite expensive for such a small adapter, but it is working great. I think with StarTech products, you pay for the quality. I was lucky to get a "used" customer return item from Amazon itself for a reduced price of £14.97. It came in the original package (StarTech plastic bag) and if it hadn't had a label on the package, I probably wouldn't have noticed at all that it is a customer return. I have a 2TB external harddrive with eSATA and USB2 ports. I used to use this harddrive with eSATA on my previous laptop, but my new laptop does not have eSATA but USB3 instead. I've tried using the 2TB external drive via USB2, but this was really really slow. With this StarTech adapter USB3 to eSATA (SATA III) adapter, I can once again use the full speed of my external hard drive! I like the fact that the cable is integrated, as this reduces the number of contacts (connectors) between PC and hard drive.

This was a great purchase! No fuss and no bother with configuring anything. You simply take the cable out of the bag and plug everything in. It's that simple. A bit of background, I was working with a 2tb MyBook Studio drive, which has 2 Firewire 800 ports, an eSata port and USB 2.0. The USB 2.0 was always a bit of an issue I could never find a cable which stayed put in the port. I stopped using Macs and so Firewire 800 was no longer required. I was not going to ditch the drive because of that. In comes an eSata cable. I took my time looking for one. I know it's not the biggest purchase, but if you just keep buying them and they turn out to be rubbish you end up spending a lot. WELCOME TO STARTECH! This cable has been fantastic. I am getting great read and write speeds. It's well constructed, about 6mm thick, which is quite large for a USB cable, the ends seem sturdy enough. I have been using it now for a month, and there is no sign of play once plugged it. This cable should last until the hard drive stops working (which I really hope does not happen). Conclusion - Great cable for a great price, a bit much, but it is 1m long. Which means I do not need to have the drive right next to the laptop like some of my other external hard drives. Well worth every penny!

Purchased this adapter to mainly connect my 6 yrs. old eSata external HDD enclosure to QNAP as USB3 external storage and worked like a charm. Also tried this on my MacBook and it recognized the drive instantly. I haven't done any read/write speed test yet but just wanted to say it works as expected. Hope that helps!

Arrived on time. I plugged my old Lacie hard drive with this cable and used an apple usb adapter into a new Mac. perfect. Thank you. Great cable, it does what I needed.

Obviously a bit expensive but seems well made and works fine.

Sometimes I find cable adapters drop the connection to the connected device or just perform poorly data transfer wise. Happy to report though that this doesn't do either. It's a bit on the pricey side but StarTech are a good brand on the whole and so its a safe option. Recommended.

Adding a Time Machine disk to my iMac, the old machine had Fire Wire - not the new one. However the disks (G Drives) also had e-SATA interface. This cable was excellent and feels robust. Now Time Machine backups are going onto the G Drive discs. Great!!

When I searched for this cable I was surprised to see how few are actually out there so I'm guessing that this is the reason for the high cost. Anyhow, I needed one to connect an older HDD dock that only had e-sata connection options. Happy to say that it works as advertised. I could actually do with another one of these as I didn't realise that the 2 x HDD dock actually required 2 x e-Sata-USB cables in order to use bot drives at the same time. I can't actually bring myself to spend that much on another cable right now so will just swap the drives over and use them one at a time when the need arises. If you need an e-Sata-USB cable then I can recommend this one.

According to the package, the speed is 5 Gbps (max for USB 3.0) not 6 Gbps. I got it to connect an old Thermaltake BlacX hard drive dock. The dock's maximum connection speed is only about 3 Gbps, less than the cable supports, but that is still much faster than the USB 2.0 I had to use before. So I'm happy with it.

Tengo un gabinete para disco duro externo de 3.5" que tiene la posibilidad de conectarse por un puerto USB 2.0 y un puerto eSATA. Este adaptador me permite conectar el gabinete a un puerto USB 3.0 de mi computadora al puerto eSATA del gabinete y aprovechar la alta velocidad de transferencias de los dos puertos. Funciona muy bien; sin embargo, lo que he notado es que tengo que conectar el adaptador después de haber inicializado la laptop. Si se conecta antes, mi laptop no lo reconoce.
