YOU CAN TAKE IT APART AGAIN
I read a few reviews from people saying this unit can't be disassembled after a test fit. It's fiddly but can be done. The flared metal part shown in the photo acts a a ratchet when the parts are assembled. When depressed it is possible to unscrew the parts again. I used a point on a swiss army knife but anything that reaches and isn't too sharp to slide down the side will do I expect. To the quality. Mine replaced a fitting in a habitat lamp which used feeble tabs to hold the assembly together and needless to say one of these failed. In my view this fitting is far superior in strength of assembly. Early days yet to see if it stands the test of time but no obvious flaws in design. Installation and assembly of this fitting is a doddle (working out how the lamp itself came apart was less so 🙄). However, the outcome is that my broken lamp is all back together and working like new. It's a shame to see that folk are throwing these away following a test assembly. No doubt some simple instructions would work to the advantage of the environment and karma of humankind! So if the manufacturer wants that fifth star, they know what to do.

NEW LEASE OF LIFE FOR MY ANTIQUE READING LAMP
I recently bought a TP-Link smart bulb from Amazon, with the intention of using it in an old brass reading lamp that has a bayonet fitting. Since the TP-Link comes with an E27 converter, I thought I would be able to use the bulb without any modification to the lamp itself.Regrettably, however, when the bulb was used with the E27 attachment, it was so long that it protruded over the top of the lampshade and was quite blinding on all but the lowest settings, so I looked on Amazon and found this Bluelover lamp holder. The Bluelover holder was very easy to fit and resolved the problem immediately; the TP-Link bulb is now about ten centimetres from the top of the shade, so now looks great when lit.One reviewer has mentioned that the holder does not come with the metal screw base. When I ordered the lamp holder, I considered buying the metal base, which is offered separately, but I decided to wait until I saw what the lamp holder was like before buying the base. I'm very glad I did because the Bluelover holder comes complete with a soft plastic fluted adaptor that you can push into the reading lamp. The adaptor is threaded at the top so the holder screws directly into it, which means that I have not had to make any major alterations to a nice antique reading lamp.I shall definitely buy a few more Bluelover holders so that I can change all my lights to smart bulbs.

Don't assemble before using.
Buying one of these saved me over £100 on a new lamp. The item comes ready for assembly.Just one word of caution, do not assemble before you use it as you will not get it apart again. Just make sure that the terminals are all tight before fitting the collars.

The Item arrived as one unit ie put together so it was useless.
The item has a safety lug inside that stops the fitting being undone once it has been put together. As the fitting arrived put together I couldn't undo it to wire it up .Then the saga begun I couldn't make the seller understand That the fitting should have been sent unassembled so that I could connect wires to it. After several emails I gave up & had to get AMAZON to deal with the issue so beware if you use this seller. I may have been unlucky but I can only comment on my experience which was not good. I purchased another one from a different seller which was fine.

Perfect repalcement
I accidentally knocked over my lamp and smashed the bulb socket. Bought this and had it replaced in no time. There's no connection for an earth wire if you have a three-wired lead, but you can just tape the earth wire up and push it out the way within the casing. Lamp has been restored to its former glory... until I knock it over again, at which point I'd happily buy another one of these.

Fit for purpose but missing a lower lip to secure lampshade
Easy to assemble a rewire a broken lamp screw cap. The item doesn't have a lower lip for a lamp shade to fit on so the lamp shade wouldn't sit in place correctly. One is provided but the lamp shade has to balance therefore not sturdy enough. I had to improvise and use the old one from the broken cap I had.

Just what I was looking for.
Exactly what I have been looking for to repair a vintage table lamp. This unit comes unassembled and I made the classic mistake of assembling it before wiring to 'See how it went together'. You cant do this because it has a stop inside so that you don't unscrew / expose the terminals when you change the bulb. Rang the company and they explained what to do so managed to make up the original rather than replace with new parts.
