Technically a cleaner rather than a sharpener...
I’ve been using this for around 4 months and I have to say it’s a fantastic product. I was sceptical at first as it was being hyped as a sharpener but in reality it cleans the blades (which is also stated on Razorpits website) making them last that little bit longer. When I say “..little bit longer” I am still using the same blade I had when I bought this back in mid-August. I want to champion this too as it’s a win for the consumer, it saves you money on blades which nowadays if you buy branded ones (like myself) can be quite expensive (for instance a pack of 8 blades of a certain brand can cost 15 pounds which to some is a decent chunk to spend). Now I can stretch remaining blades I have long into next year. Other reviewers (you can find different versions of this product under Razorpits name on Amazon) here have put it better than me but this is well worth a purchase whether you’re a man or a woman. It works. It’s simple. It saves you money and I’m kicking myself for not getting one sooner. (also, if you visit Razorpits website you get a full rundown of which blades are compatible and it is the majority of manufacturers).

I was sceptical. I was wrong to be.
I expected some kind of stone type slab thing, but this was more rubbery. Very lightweight, very small and fits perfectly in a wash bag. But, I was sceptical at first. Bought a nice new gilette razor with one blade only in the hope that it would last me for a year... when I first started using it (after each shave just 3 or 4 pushes along it to clean) I couldn't really tell if it was working, as it's not like a traditional stone blade sharpener or anything... 3 months later, still using same blade, still sharp, clean, no irritability, no rashes, cuts well... so, i guess it works!! It dries quickly, good value, I should save a bunch and help the environment by hopefully having just one blade a year.

Overpriced but appears to work.
Overpriced. It’s basically a rectangle of rubber. So doesn’t need to be that expensive. I was v sceptical. You basically slide the razor over the rubber pad in reverse direction to shaving a few times after each shave. So now I’m 3 months down the line with the same Amazon 5 blade razor, and still going. It’s the longest I’ve used a razor for. It must therefore be working! It immediately begs the question if you slid the razor backwards over palm of your hand or some other bit of rubber would it have the same effect? But in summary despite my skepticism I’m going to have to admit it works but it loses a star for the silly price.

Overpriced but does the job
Very expensive for what it is. Worth using after shaving though to prolong the life of the blade a while longer. Remember to properly rinse and dry the blade as well.

It works
Perhaps it is semantics but I have some issues with the description of the product as "sharpening" the blades. It does aid cleaning of the blades however - whether Gilette fusion or Wilkinson Sword Hydra. Without cleaning a head tends to last a couple of weeks - using this product however I can make the head last up to three three months. In consequence the maths is pretty clear - the product does pay for itself and offers value for money even if it is somewhat expensive for what is little more than a piece of flat rubber. Just get into the routine of using it every time you shave. Are there other cleaning methods? - of course there are - this one is simply convenient. What ever with the price of blades any product that can reduce the cost of shaving, not to mention reducing landfill, seems like a good idea.

A must-have shaving accessory!
I don't shave particularly frequently, twice to three times a week on average, but razor blades are still an expense I'd rather live without. When I heard about the Razorpit 'Slide' I immediately thought it was too good to be true. I believed once a blade was 'blunt' and had been used a number of times the only good place for it was the bin. I bought the Razorpit 'Slide' out of curiosity, and because initial reviews seemed positive. I now swear by this product, and have bought a number as gifts. The 'Slide' has doubled the life of my razor blades, been used two to three times weekly, a great saving. My friend who I bought the 'Slide' for, who shaves daily, has seen a greater saving and is now buying a second 'Slide' as a result. The 'Slide' effectively cleans your blades after each shave, keeping them appearing sharper for longer prolonging the life of your rather pricey blades! Using the 'Slide' adds just a few extra seconds onto your shaving routine, but saves you money as a result. The 'Slide' is small and lightweight, measuring in at a similar size to a modern smartphone, but weighing much less, therefore can be used at home or taken away on business/holiday without adding weight to your luggage. This is one product I rave about to anybody I know who shaves, for the price it is a must have!

Don’t bother
This sounded a great idea , but seems pretty useless. It made no appreciable difference to my blades. I am not even sure how it is supposed to work as with my blades, the sharp edges are recessed beneath the lubricating strips. So the blades probably don’t even make contact with the device.

Brilliant!
A revelation... This thing is magic. I use it after each shave (approx 20 strokes) and the current blade I'm using is shaving perfectly since June 2018 (now Mid September). Use decent shaving gel, as the lubrication in the blade cassettes does wear out with use. The blades however stay sharp and clean. I bought an 18 pack of blades for a good price earlier in the year, and am on the second one so far Massive money saver with the duration you can keep blades in tip top condition.

Here's my anecdotal experience (I'm not trying to be scientific about it and so I haven't been keeping strict records) so far and my thoughts: It basically does a good job of extending the usable life of a blade. Mine was delivered about a month ago and I started using it on a blade that I had already been using for about a week to a week-and-a-half (couldn't remember exactly) and I shave once per day, seven days a week. I usually make these Dorco Pace 7 cartridges last about two weeks. Well, I've been using the same cartridge now for over five weeks and I think it's finally time to change it, which is pretty good for one that I had already shaved with normally for over a week before I started using this system. Who knows how long the second blade will last, since I will be cleaning it on the Razorpit from day 1. My habits of usage: 1. I lather up my face and with the leftover lather on my hands, wipe it on the RazorPit and run my razor over it 8 or 9 times, rinse and begin shaving (I started doing this "pre-shave cleaning/sharpening" because I started with a used razor, though the instructions say you only need to do this once after each shave, so this is an extra step others may not be doing) 2. When I'm done shaving, I put lather on the Razorpit again and run it another 8 or 9 times (I think they recommend 4), rinse the razor (and rinse the Razorpit as well), shake/tap the water out of the razor and put it away (so, none of this extra drying of the razor, which some do and which may extend the life of the blade even longer for all I know (but I'm just not that disciplined and not something I want to spend time doing). So let me tell you what I like about this solution, comparing it to other possibilities: 1. One of the other ways of doing this you can read about online is to run the razor backwards on the inside of your forearm. This is a method I've tried and in my experience it does do the same thing somewhat, but not as well. I also don't like doing it, don't like the feel of it, and am always afraid someday I'll be in a hurry and accidentally catch and cut my skin by brushing against it on the way back preparing for another forward stroke. The Razorpit method extended the life of my blade longer and without this danger. 2. Run your razor backwards over a strip of material from an old pair of jeans. I used to do this every once-in-awhile and it works somewhat, too, but tends to wear out and/or pull off the lube strips and/or rubber strips around the razor (which the Razorpit does not do). Plus, I don't care to have pieces of blue jeans hanging out by my bathroom sink. 3. Leather shaving straps. I had thought of buying a pair of those and for all I know they may work very well, but it also doesn't seem very convenient to have a pair of those hanging out in my bathroom, never mind what to do when one is traveling. The Razorpit wins again here, as it is small and portable enough to throw into my travel toiletries bag along with everything else. For me, the Razorpit has the advantage over all three of these other methods. Final thoughts: I don't think any system truly sharpens these micro blades, but rather keeps them clean from buildup and because of the nature of these multi-blade cartridges, only one side of the blade is accessible, so one can never get the same kind of cleaning action on the other side of the blades (score one very small victory for the old single-blade shaving system our parents and/or grandparents grew up with). It's true one can probably go months and months (and indefinitely, according to some) with a single cartridge if you employ additional drying methods (or perhaps some chemical soaking methods), but at some point one has to decide how much effort they want to put into the shaving process. For me, this simple unit extends the blade long enough without undue effort or discipline or sacrificing any convenience and in so doing brings the cost of shaving with multi-blade cartridges back into a reasonable zone so that I can consider using any system without being so concerned with the cost of each cartridge. Time to break out my collection of razors (Schick, Gillette, Harry's, Dollar Shave Club--which I think are private-branded Dorcos, 800Razors, etc.) and see which are truly my favorite now that, with the Razorpit, I can get to closer monthly cost parity between the systems.

Funziona!
