Much better than Fiio K3
I got this because it had a really nice coupon of $40 and I have to say this paired with my Focal Elegia is outstanding especially with the base boost turned on. I had the fiio k5 k3 and btr5 and they all sounded the same. Thus one has very good detail and I would say that the mids are more forward which I truly enjoy. The only negative things are poor quality control (first unit had a bent coax out) but over all I'm very happy with it. It sounds amazing especially considering what I paid. I do with it came with usb c to c instead of c to a but the cords are super nice. One more issue I found is that the usb signal is not reversible so if you don't get the green light you have to take the cord out flip it and reinsert it and it works. It's quirky but the sound is phenomenal. If it's between this and the k3 I wouldn't think twice. The k3 has a super sensitive usb port and if you touch it with very little force the signal drops with most cords. Anyways that's my 2 cents.

Trash
Didn’t work at all. Used on an iPhone with apple brand cables, and a windows computer with the provided cables. I used cables that I know work even. Neither device recognized it. Also the website to install the drivers is down. Love spending $70 on a Christmas gift and it doesn’t work at all.

Sound is excellent - good value & sturdy
Very nice & well built DAC/HP Amp that has Sabre ESS9038Q2M decoding chip. Coolest feature is the aux power which works well with my Android tablets, and minimizes battery usage. SE & 4.4 balanced output, I use this DS400 as a sound card from my laptop with 3.5 out to my Yamaha amp and it sounds excellent, and the USB will power the amp by itself.. The Super Bass does add a thump to the low end, and also has a Hi-Gain switch for headphones. Does get warm which is normal and the case helps dissipate heat which you can feel, warm not hot. Lavaudio isn't well known, but I have another DAC they made with BT LDAC and its been a champ for several years now. Volume control on front panel. Larger unit than a small dongle with the coax & optical output on back, this has good performance and power for different usage cases.

Works Well With Mac
This device can be used through USB if you set to "USB AUDIO" for output in Settings. The sound is pretty good...I think it's comparable to the Fiio E10 I was using before but this has a little more control and better midrange. Because the power comes through a second USB connection I think the sound is much cleaner than the Fiio. It drives my Sony MDR-1A headphones quite well and, even on the lowest volume, still maintains a balanced sound. This was a pretty good deal and I would recommend it to people who want decent sound and don't want to pay too much for it. As a bonus, you can plug a Galaxy phone into it with USB-C and use it as an amp for that. I haven't tried the optical or coax output from it but I expect it to sound just as good.

DOA didn’t work
DOA, returned immediately. Not interested in repurchasing since they have such bad quality control.

The perfect addition to your laptop audio!
I ordered this to compare against my other desktop audio products, and while it may not replace my desktop audio solution, it has become my go-to DAC+AMP for my laptop. Let me explain why. First, some context. Desktop audio has been an ever-improving aspect of contemporary motherboards. While this has led to many motherboards not needing external audio, this improvement has not apparently made it to the laptop market. I recently purchased a Lenovo laptop and was shocked to find that the HD Audio solution was a 16-Bit/44100kHz DAC/AMP combo that was not even capable of playing Hi-Res audio files from Amazon music or any other Hi-Res audio for that matter. In steps the YMOO DS400! This tiny little DAC/AMP combo resolved all my audio issues while being diminutive in size. Sampling is capable of 32-Bit/768kHz decoding, but the onboard XMOS Chip only appears to output at 32-Bit/384 kHz output. That being understood, this format is more than capable of playing high fidelity audio without compromising the quality as most streaming services HiFi currently stream at 24-Bit/96kHz. Power is good, but not exceptional for higher impedance headphones. Power itself is derived from the USB C plug, either directly from the source (PC/Laptop) at 5V/1A, or via an external USB-C connector that runs 5V/1A as well. The secondary power option is for when using Coaxial or TOSLINK, and does not add power when plugged directly into the source via USB cable. All that being known, this small little unit was able to power my HD 650 headphones to a decently loud volume when turned up to 85% and with the gain set at high. The unit also has a bass boost option which worked really well to add some fun to my DCA Aeon headphones. It does come with a substantial boost, so some headphones may become too bass-heavy. YMMV. The addition of a 4.4 mm Balanced jack provides extra power for more demanding headphones, but I would have liked it if the unit was able to deliver the same power over the 3.5 mm unbalanced cable. Regardless it did make all my headphones sound great and provide ample volume for most tasks without issue. The cost for the item is a little high compared to similar products which sell for around the $80 price range, but as the cost is a variable thing and inflation has currently made the economy a little crazy, use your best judgment. So far, I am pleasantly surprised with the YMOO DS400+ DAC/AMP. It has filled a niche that I did not know I would need. Now that I have used it, I cannot see myself going back to my laptop’s onboard audio unless required to. This little device is a game-changer for laptop audio everywhere!

after installing drivers as "lavaudio DS400+" on my Windows PC this device drives effortlessly my small collection of headphones: Philips Fidelio, Sennheiser HD599 and a pair of KZ PR1 planar IEM, I have not tested yet balanced output, but on 3,5mm stereo output sound very nice with enough power. The auxiliary usb-c port for power when using a phone as source is useful nice touch.

This is a powerhouse of a headphone DAC AMP. Clear sound output. Discrete power supply so USB in is not shared. Useful optical and coax outs for using with an AVR or another DAC. Bass boost and gain work well without distortion at 60_80% levels that I listen to. Manual states Bluetooth input but I think it is a misprint. I added four rubber feet to base. A USBC 2 USBC cable would have been a good inclusion to use with modern phones. Good value recommended.
