I bought my son a new violin, upgraded from a Half size to a Stentor Student II Full Size. It came completely untuned, however I downloaded a great app to my phone and managed to tune it without much difficulty. Problem was that the violin lost it's tune every couple of days, it was really annoying having to tune it constantly. After googling the problem I came across Hiderpaste, and despite some negative reviews, but mostly positive ones decided to purchase. In order to apply the paste it is important to totally remove the string and peg so that you can coat the peg all over. This took a littl emore googling to figure out the best way to string and twist the string to ensure it was put back perfectly. The most important thing to do is make sure that you have the least angle possible going from the string back towards the head of the violin, this way it will be less inclined to pull the peg outwards - i.e. remain tight. After all this, the violin now retains its tune, needing very little tuning now, pretty much back to what I would expect - so much better and less hassle now being able to just micro adjust the violin in a few minutes, as opposed to total retune taking 10 minutes previously!!! A great purchase....

I was not sure if this would fix my peg slipping problem or if I'd have to take it to the Luthier. Turns out it had helped tremendously and my violin doesn't lose its tuning as easily as it did. It does the job and you get a lot for your money.

Great for fixing a slipping violin peg

If you own a cello you will at some time need this peg paste. Absolutely essential.

More difficult to apply than a lip-balm style and not great for anti-slipping imho.

The peg paste is high quality paste used by professionals so meets the requirement really well, and sorted my daughter's stiff violin peg. A stiff peg makes it hard to tune, but poor quality paste can lead to the peg slipping. The distributor we bought from shipped really quickly which we were impressed with.
