Brilliant
I had watched this DVD before but this time I was knocked out by the quality of the music/choreography/dancing....all superb!

Brutal and glorious
It's a ruthless character assassination of a selfish, egotistical, misogynistic jerk. Made by the man himself. It's a fascinating glimpse into Fosse and his work process and it is wicked fun to boot. Worth it for the opening scene alone, although the casual 1980s stereotypical treatment of gay men is a bit wince inducing.

A Dark Indulgence
I understand that 'All That Jazz' was Bob Fosse's tribute to himself, rather like Fellini's 8 and a half was to him. Whilst this inevitably results in touches of self absorption, pity and narcissism, Mr Fosse has given us some of the greatest and most admired musical films, ever, where he combined human tragedy with artistic spectacle and the sense of really getting the most from his stars. The star in this is the choreography and its interpretation. Running alongside and crossing between outer body experience and real life but that line being somewhat blurred, Roy Scheider is always at loggerheads between his artistic and excess-all-areas lifestyle, with the results thereof introducing themselves in various forms. The censors, producers, doctors, lovers, cast members and cigarettes all have a big role in his daily battles, but at the end of the day, we are all immortal and are just a body with a brain in its skull. Don't let me put you off...it's largely entertaining, hugely at times but never too dark or morose. Just don't expect all sweetness and light with joyous numbers. It's Cabaret without Liza Minnelli, but with a somewhat bitter genius who doesn't sing, or dance. Enjoyed the former? Then you'll get a lot from 'All That Jazz'.

Brilliant film
So clever and deep. Probably a bit politically incorrect these days but worth watching

Leading us a dance!
Bob Fosse - a noted dancer and dance choreographer - directed this somewhat indulgent film about acharacter that reflected his own chosen career in show business. The expertise for which Fosse was famousis on display from the outset in the set pieces and any musical film fan would appreciate the content, butthe story and its denouement can stretch the patience, not least because of the leading character'spersonality traits/flaws. One for the specialist fan perhaps when it comes to film musicals.

nothing to beat those feet!
One of the most influential and innovative pieces ever. Required viewing for anyone serious about dance - whether as a dancer or a watcher.I am not a dancer, but whenever I watch this, and however many times I do, I have to remember to breathe.and when it is over it lingerslike all the very best musicals ...
