Velbon PH368 Panhead for D600/700

Got a chance to give one of these heads a test-drive in a camera shop. (Unfortunately they didn't stock the head alone, so I took my business here.) I'm very happy with this product. The head works as alternate head for my Slik AMT tripod, it comes with a 1/3" thread, with a removable 1/4" thread adapter. What this means is that I can remove my Slik tripod head, and replace it with the Velbon using the 1/3" thread, or I can put the 1/4" adapter on and screw the Velbon head directly onto an existing tripod head. (This second method isn't very stable as it tends to unscrew itself if you pan quickly but handy in a pinch.) The Velbon construction is light with a mostly plastic build. Though very sturdy and reliable in operation, i'd take extra care packing the tripod head away after a shoot to prevent damage. The variable drag resistance is a great feature and very effective, though the knobs are awkward to reach where they are located (a minor annoyance). There is also a locking nut which will hold the tripod head in one position. Another minor drawback is there's no level on the head so I have to rely on the camera's internal level. The unit is quite small but takes the weight of a Canon 7D + zoom lens (apprx 1.5 kg) with no complaints, one word of warning is that if the drag is set to low, the unit will happily pitch the camera forward, i'm adding some counterweights to the handle to balance it out. All that aside I highly recommend this item. The fluid motion is very smooth, allowing for fast and slow pans and tilts and a great range of motion. It doesn't hold a candle to the professional Manfrotto fluid drag heads, but at a fraction of the cost it's usability and performance are a win

My first video head. I consider it to be of good quality for the price paid. Quick release is great and panning is smooth. It lacks a counterbalance but for the price you cannot expect to have it included.

After a lot of use... PROs: Plastic but sturdy Handle can be place on the front or back and its angle can be adjusted. Smooth dampened pan motion which is also adjustable. Nice long metal handle. Sturdy large QR plate. Relatively compact size. Works well with DSLRs. Film locking plate. Great price. CONs: No option to rotate camera to portrait mode. No oil damping on tilt motion. Has become less smooth over time.

had 2 of them unrelaiable cheap quality and they dont give you stability

For the price it's superb. I use it for years now with canon 60D and big zoom lens for video shootings with great results. Pros Nice fluid movments Afordable Durable Cons For this price none

I personally like this tripod head although its sometimes a bit awkward as the pressure knobs are very small and difficult to grip, the build is very good and the plate is a good fit, I bought this because the seals had failed on the original head for my D500 tripod after it lay in storage for approximately 10-15 years, and it was well used before that! that said i would suggest putting a dab of lock-tight on the handles locking screw as it loosens off very easily. the quick lock on the plate is a really nice feature that is well thought-out

Bought this to use with my Slider, its nice and light. The quick release is fine, Its fluid. Just what i needed. No problems so far

Velbon are such a reliable brand. I've used this head and tripod body for the guts of 10 years. The springs eternnally finally gave up and i love this model so much i wanted to just replace the head. It has a smooth,fluid motion along woth a comfortable weight when panning. Some heads feel light and cheap but this is my go to tripod head.

Il prodotto è arrivato secondo i tempi prestabiliti. Imballato in una confezione in cartone e imbustato in un sacchetto di nylon. Il prodotto si presenta con una costruzione massiccia in plastica (dal peso deduco che l'interno è in gran parte in metallo). La leva per fare i movimenti era già montata (presenta la possibilità di essere montata davanti o dietro la testa ed è posizionabile a 360°). Ho montato il mio spotting scope sulla piastra a sgancio rapido (piastra in plastica: questa non mi è proprio piaciuta, comunque sembra svolgere il suo lavoro). L'attacco al cavalletto presenta una boccola di riduzione per esere montato su tutti i cavalletti sia con attacchi 1/4 e 3/8. I movimenti risultano fluidi, senza giochi tra gli accoppiamenti della testa. Ho montato sullo spotting scope anche la mia Nikon 3200 d per un totale di 2500g, la testa li regge, ma oltre una certa angolazione, con le viti di fermo completamente allentate tende a farla scendere lentamente da una parte all'altra (il peso è piuttosto sbilanciato). A mio avviso per un uso amatoriale (riprese video, fotografiche o osservazioni con spotting scope) il prodotto per il prezzo è ottimo. Per un uso professionale credo ci siano prodotti migliori (non ho provato altri prodotti di questo genere) nei materiali di realizzazione, a fronte di un maggior costo. In generale il prodotto mi è piaciuto, tranne la piastra a sgancio rapido che non mi sembra molto robusta.

Ya la conocia por tener un tripode con la misma rotula, y me gusta mucho. Es una buena opción para grabar video pro con cámaras ligeras tipo dsrl. El sistema de extracción rápida es muy bueno. Para cámaras más pesadas que las dsrl ya hay que tener más cuidado.

Der Fluidhead von Velbon gefällt mir richtig gut, und erledigt die Aufgabe des flüssigen Schwenks ohne Probleme. Ich habe zwar keinen Vergleich, aber ich würde behaupten, dass die Schwenks fast genauso butterweich sind wie die von teureren Fluidheads. Für das beste Ergebnis benutze ich persönlich zusätzlich noch ein Gummiband, mit welchem ich den Stativstab "ziehe". Dieser lässt sich übrigens so hindrehen, wie man ihn haben möchte. Verarbeitung ist soweit gut, schön auch, dass eine Schnellwechselplatte mitgeliefert wird. Da man auch deutlich mehr Geld ausgeben kann für einen solchen Stativkopf bin ich mit diesem hier insgesamt echt zufrieden. Klar, die Verarbeitung geht natürlich immer etwas besser, und auch kleine Wasserwaagen fehlen auch. Aber für den Preis muss man ja irgendwelche Abstriche hinnehmen, und wenn die sich auf diese Punkte beschränken, dann ist das voll in Ordnung. Die Videos jedenfalls werden durch diese "günstige" Anschaffung deutlich aufgewertet. Ich benutze den Kopf für meine Video Reviews.

Quand je pense que je m'étais penché dessus il y a 2 ans, j'avais même demandé des avis, et j'avais plutôt opté pour la Manfrotto MVH502AH largement plus chère, même acquise durant une vente flash. J'aurais du acheter celle-là directement. Je précise que ma caméra pèse 700g, disons 800g si j'ajoute le micro. Bien sûr la qualité mécanique et matérielle de la Manfrotto est largement meilleure, plus durable, conçue pour des caméras bien plus lourdes. Mais j'ai beaucoup plus de plaisir et de fluidité avec cette tête légère.Je peux faire des mouvements combinés, par exemple à 45° de façon beaucoup plus réussie, les débuts de mouvement ne scotchent pas, je n'ai pas d'à-coup au démarrage. Les fins de mouvement accusent en revanche un très léger retour en arrière, mais j'ai pas mieux avec la Manfrotto. En un mot je ne suis pas déçu et j'ajoute mes louanges à celles des autres commentaires. Le plateau amovible est correct. En tout cas il me suffit. Le trou de fixation sous ma caméra n'étant pas sous le centre de gravité, j'avais commandé en parallèle un plateau adaptateur permettant de faire coulisser plus ou moins en avant ou en arrière ma caméra, mais je n'en ai finalement pas besoin, ça tient en place comme ça. Au final cette rotule me convient pour l'instant tout à fait pour ma caméra légère. Certes si je bloque tous les axes je n'ai pas besoin de forcer beaucoup sur le manche pour voir que l'ensemble se déforme un peu, sous l'influence des jeux cumulés et du plastique généralisé. Mais pour moi la priorité était de pouvoir avoir des mouvements fluides, avec la caméra qui garde sa position même si je lâche le manche, sans avoir besoin de serrer ou desserrer constamment. Le contrat est rempli, je suis satisfait de cet achat, que j'aurais du faire bien avant.

Questo prodotto mi è stato recapitato ben imballato e molto velocemente. La testa si presenta molto fluida e scorre bene pure con carichi pesanti; la qualità delle panoramiche è quasi perfetta, senza scatti e imperfezioni (se non quelle causate dalla nostra mano). E' dunque una testa che permette di ottenere video di alta qualità. La nota dolente a mio avviso è la costruzione completamente in plastica. Ho notato inoltre che le viti che regolano la fluidità della testa se allentate molto traballano un poco, non compromettendo tuttavia la ripresa. Tutto sommato è un prodotto solido e resistente, che permette riprese molto fluide. Per il prezzo che ha mi sento sicuramente di consigliarlo dal momento che il suo dovere lo fa egregiamente. Adatto a riprese amatoriali e non professionali.
