Product Description Roddy (voice of Hugh Jackman)is a decidedly uppercrust "society rat" who lives the life of a pampered pet in London. When a common s ewer rat named Syd comes spewing out of the sink and decides he's hit the jackpot, Roddy schemes to get rid of him. When Roddy lures Syd to the "whirlpool" in an attempt to flush him away, things go horribly wrong. Roddy's plan is foiled and he is flushed into the bustling sewer world of Ratropolis. Roddy wants out, so he employs the help of a sewer savy rat named Rita (voice of Kate Winslet). The two join together in an attempt to escape the deadly wrath of the villainous Toad (voice of Ian McKellan) who wants to get rid of them. desertcart.co.uk Review Flushed Away is a rip-roaring nautical adventure with a twist: The heroes are a pair of rodents braving the sewers underneath London. Roddy (voiced by Hugh Jackman) is an upper-crust house-mouse who finds himself flushed into the subterranean sewers. Eager to return to his posh home, he enlists the help of a boat-captain rat named Rita (Kate Winslet), who has troubles of her own; namely the kingpin of the underworld, the Toad (Ian McKellen), and his henchmen including the French mercenary Le Frog (Jean Reno). While technically Flushed Away could be considered part of the wave of celebrity-voiced, anthropomorphic-animal movies that hit in 2005-2006 (Madagascar, Over the Hedge, The Wild, etc.), it doesn't inspire the same sense of déjà vu. For one thing, its voice actors are less recognizable than the likes of Bruce Willis and Chris Rock. For another, its look is very distinctive. Like Nick Park's Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, it's a joint production of DreamWorks Animation and Aardman Features, and although Park isn't involved, it retains his trademark blocky look of clay animation. But animating the movie by computer rather than by hand allows for some eye-popping tableaux, such as floodwaters rushing through the sewers and an entire town of little animated characters. It's a crazy thrill ride loaded with inside jokes and enough crude humour to earn a PG rating, and the band of singing slugs is also a hoot. --David Horiuchi Review: Good innocent fun - This is an excellent children's film which follows the adventures of a domestic pet, Roddy, who gets flushed down the toilet by a rat from the sewer. Realising that sewer life is not for him, Roddy enlists the help of a young female rat (who owns a boat) in order to get home to Kensington. And that is where the adventure really begins. There are some extras with this DVD as well. There is a simple word game, against the clock, and there are numerous printables and a virtual slug game for the youngsters to play. All in all it's a good product and a reasonable price. Review: Flushed Away..........Blown Away! - Like many people with young children, we are constantly "forced" to watch the increasing number of animated films being released. This really isn't a problem when there are many such wonderful films with characters you love and care about. Then the bubble was burst with the "in our opinion" totally awful Madagascar rip off,The Wild ( wrong wrong wrong). So We delayed and delayed and reluctantly gave in to our sons demands to see Flushed away...... Oh my Goodness!! Laugh we didnt stop! It was wonderful and restored all my faith in this Genre. Youll love the characters ( Whitey and the slugs are mine!!)The quality, the story with lots of action, Everything. Gandalf as a Slimey Toad...Hilarious. Jean Reno as a froggy assassin. Its just brilliant...and when you watch it again and again you see more and more sneaky little jokes. Watch it,laugh at it, Love it.

Fabulous movie
I bought this for my daughter as she loves watching movies with animals as the main characters. I saw it when in the cinema and knew Flushed Away would be suitable for a 2 year old. The humour is fabulous as subtle innuendoes aren't picked up by children but make it entertaining for adults who have to sit with their delightful children and watch it over and over again. Well worth the money.

Rats rule....
Superb movie- kids love it. Get to see it several times a day, though! Plenty of humour aimed at the older audience- take off's on Disney movies, gags about americans (movie set in London- or a rat metropolis that duplicates London underneath the human city!). Great actors voicing the characters- Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Jean Reno, David Suchet, Ian McKellen- and the famous singing slugs..... Excellent movie at a great price- buy it!

Bring back the plasticine
A spoilt rat lives with his nice middle class owners in Kensington in his posh cage. All seems perfect until a sewer rat turns up, turfs him out of his house and into the sewers. Once there our hero meets up with a feisty girl-rat who is fighting against an underworld of crooks led by a giant toad. I had expected this to be a real dissapointment but the truth is that this was well animated, a daft but enjoyable storyline and most of all it was very funny! Although I missed the charm of Aardmans plasticine,(which is why I give it 4 stars and not 5), I have to say this still had its own appeal, the characters were all likeable,(even the villains), the voice acting was very well done,(Jean Reno as an assasin frog and Bill Nighy as a bald rat in particular) and the pace was kept up throughout as were the gags, from the subtle 'blink and you've missed them' sight gags to an assortment of brilliant idea,s,(I loved the singing slugs!),. The picture was excellent and this is a great film to show off that LCD/plasma and so too the sound was spot on. The extras are Ok although not outstanding. If you were not sure about this one,(not surprising considering how sniffy many press reviews have been), then be asurred that this is great fun, if you have nippers they will love this, if it's for you then don't hesitate, it's a really enjoyable 80 minutes that will consistantly make you laugh.

I absolutely love this film :) It's really funny, really good animation and a really lovely story line! I watch this over and over and over again without getting bored :) The jokes aren't cringy like I am always worried they would be- they are tasteful and genuinely funny. Really worth a watch!

I bought this as my son had watched it over & over again on sky plus! He loves it. I can't understand why we never heard of it before. It's a lovely story & very funny. My son, age 2, knows words to certain scenes & gets very excited , one film I don't mind watching again & again.
