Great book for those wanting to learn about bees and beekeeping. Easy to understand, well illustrated and an excellent reference for common issues faced by beekeepers

This is a very clear, easily readable book with lots of very clear pictures to aid understanding for those interested in taking up beekeeping. It does not have the more detailed information contained in the authorised BBKA books that provide the more experienced beekeeper with more detailed information needed as experience develops. This book is very useful for younger, aspiring beekeepers and at the same time a useful source of information for all ages. Definitely worth having at the start of a beekeeping career.

Great guide, easy to use.

Good value book (was reduced) that arrived the next day as promised. It is hardback, good quality and is easy to read and is also well illustrated. It is well written without masses of jargon and in plain English. The format and lay out is great with sections clearly marked and the text is suitably separated by clear pictures making it a very easy read. I may be biased but the book invites you in to read and encourages you to keep going. It is a book that you can put down and pick up easily as there are natural stopping points throughout. It is a great book to start with to give you a good foundation knowledge of the bee world. I would certainly recommend this book to the aspiring bee keeper

The first half of the book goes through the very basics of Bee keeping. The second half is good as a reference guide but not easy reading unless you have a hive to hand.

What a great book! It was initially bought as a bit of a silly present with the idea of buying a proper reference book later. It has however surpassed our expectations and is great. This is our constant reference book and has got use through a series of problems in our first and second year of bee keeping. There is good amount of detail and some brilliant images that help in detail to tell the story. The book was read in full when it first arrived and now is used as reference when needed it has covered all the main areas, I have not found answers missing when I have a question . I love the set up of this book it is clear and concise and in a world of just googling it I have found it often better to use this and then ask google later for any finer points. I have now bought the sheep version of this series mainly down to the fact that this book was so well set out.

With excellent description and colour photos must be one of the best books around for beekeeping. Particularly very good for beginners.

Gives you a good base to understand more technical info

This book is one of the clearest manuals on beekeeping I have ever seen - I wish that I had had it years ago when I first started to keep bees. Just about everything you need to know is here and illustrated clearly. If you are unable to be taught by an actual beekeeper in the field, this book is the way to go. Excellent.

I always read the literature list in the backs of the beekeeping books that I buy to find a new and interestingly useful book I did not see before. This book I found in the back of the BBKA guide to beekeeping book so i decided to look it up. It seemed interesting so I bought it. This book is a great little manual for the aspiring and starting off beekeepers. It is full of almost entirely photos with little captions and blocks of text that step by step guide you through what you are doing and introduce one to things that may be unfamiliar. I highly recommend this book to any aspiring keeper.

Excellent! Full of photos and easy to read and follow. A must have for any beekeeper 🐝
