Check out the bonus feature too.On the other hand, if you're already a Pilates addict, you'll love the variations and advanced versions of old favourites, plus exciting new exercises specifically designed to challenge your core. Pilates has never been so much fun! Review: Lynne Robinson Brilliant as Always - Easy to understand explanations, with a good range of exercises, and offers easy and hard variations for each exercise. I really like this dvd. However, I haven't started using it yet. If, like me, you have recently suffered a back injury I would recommend the Pilates Bible by Lynne Robinson instead. The book offers a much slower and more appropriate introduction to pilates for someone whose spine and musculature is in poor condition. Review: Perfect for the Pilates novice - I ordered this hoping that it would better explain how to build the fundamentals of Pilates. I have tried Pilates myself at home but was never sure if my techniques were exactly right. The subject is well explained in this dvd, and each stage demonstrated. I am pleased I got it as it really does help more than just reading it in a book. Worth getting if you are pretty new to Pilates. Delivery was very prompt and the product itself in excellent condition. I would recommend without a doubt.

Short on exercise
There's a lot of talk, rather than showing a good workout. When you do eventually get to the workouts, they are very short. I much prefer Darcey Bussell's 'Pilates for Life' which is jam-packed with exercises and much more enjoyable.

a very good starting point
I have attended private pilates classes for a while a few years ago, therefore I know how important it is to constantly have the right posture for pilates exercises to be beneficial and not harmful. This DVD is perfect for beginners, or for someone who hasn't practiced pilates for a while, like me (back to the basics!). There is a short introduction about posture and breathing, but after you get the hang of it, you can skip this part. As for the main workout, it is quite challenging for the beginners or the lazy ones like me. After just 4 weeks of exercise, I feel better, stronger, I look better and I am willing to move on to something more challenging. I will keep this DVD as a reference or for days that I am too tired or bored for something too challenging. I have to commend on people saying that the instructor analyses everything as you go : this is the only right way to go when practicing pilates. And as I have a previous experience, I can assure you that it is TRUE pilates, and not some pilates-based training programm mixed with other methods-types of workout. Why not 5 stars then? I would like a couple more repetitions on each exercise. I could pause the DVD and do that on my own, but that's easier said than done. If you are looking for intense exercise, for buckets of sweat, tears and adrenaline, this DVD is not for you, and probably pilates is not for you. But it is beneficial and it is excellent for those who need a good start at parting from their couch.

I would definitely recommend this DVD
As a beginner in Pilates after suffering with sciatica this DVD works perfect for me. I don't get back pain like I used to as I have built up my core. The main workout is around 35mins so easy to fit into the working day. It was recommended by my osteopath and I would definitely recommend it to ladies that have been through pregnancy and need to build up their stomach muscles. If your desciplined to do this DVD 4 times a week you will see good results! But don't rush to do all the advanced exercises build up to them and you will see your progression within a few weeks.

Really disappointing... not what I was after
I bought this DVD based on all the 4 and 5 star recommendations to have a go at a different instructor. I now realise I was looking for a dvd which I could do over an hour or less and feel well exercised. Pilates is already quite a "slow" work out although challenging but this dvd makes it painful! Yes the instruction is good but its repetitve. You spend more time hearing how to do the exercise than actually doing it with constant commentary from Lynne. Once you've got the hang of the exercise you have to listen to it being explained each time you put the dvd on. It feels like I've bought a reference book for Pilates that you look up when you want to refresh your memory/understanding of something instead of a practical "lets get on and do some exercise" sort of a guide. I have had 2 kids in the last 4 yrs and I have no pelvic floor left! hence my choice of pilates as a good exercise to build it back up again. Sadly this is not the dvd for me to achieve this but I am also not really sure what you would get from doing this dvd regularly other than frustrated!

Fantastic for beginners and intermediates
I love this DVD, especially the ab blaster at the end. I have also purchased the inch loss pilates dvd by Lynne Robinson and it is equally fantastic. I am using the DVD to relieve pain in my shoulders and back whilst also tone my body for my wedding. I have done both and have tummy muscles that I never realised existed! I just wish Lynne would bring out some more DVD's - her old DVD's are really dated now..!

Excellent for starters
Perfect DVD for anyone new to Pilates. I recently had my second baby and now have non-existent stomach muscles. Went to Physio due to back problems during pregnancy. It was suggested that I took up Pilates before taking up any high impact exercise. I'm rubbish at stretching/balancing etc but this DVD is perfect for beginners. Lynne takes it very slowly to help ensure you get each position right. I highly recommend it. (I'm not Joel, I'm his wife).
