A little flimsy, I feel like there should be something more holding the three layers at the bottom together as it will lean a lot either direction depending on how you tilt the canopy. We added an extra layer of protection with a full water resistant canopy to see if it helps to preserve the unit through the winter. Works well for our 18 month old, easy to put together, I did it by myself.

Like the other reviews, I needed to provide my own screws. The ones that come with the product are just very flimsy and small. When I go to close the lid from a bench to a lid, it doesn’t fit because the slats were cut too long to fit around the bar for the awning easy fix though my son loves the sandbox even with the few flaws. it’s a nice product. It smells great, and once it’s all put together with the sand in it is very sturdy I use 300 pounds of sand it could’ve taken more, but there was no need to put any more in there

Several assembly issues! Step 3: The 3 bolts stick into the sand play area with no safety caps to prevent injury. Step 3: Instructions and supplies have 3 bolts, but photo on the cover page of instructions shows 2. Step 4: To support lateral load of sand, a small support board is attached to the middle of 3 side slats. The instructions show 2 screws per slat . . . but the support board only has 4 holes!! Step 4: The supplied 3x30 self-tapping wood "A" screws are unusable since they are too short!!! Only 1/16" of 1.5 threads was left to connect to the slats! Terrible error! I had to go to the hardware store to purchase longer screws . . . not easy since the screws are metric! Step 8: Instructions indicate to use "F" screws. THERE ARE NO "F" SCREWS! Fortunately, the "A" screws worked. Step 8: Handle Screw Bolt has a washer supplied [good], but NONE of the instructions indicate those washers. They're needed to protect the wood. Step 9: Indicates to screw down the canvas top while the frame is installed on the upright posts (Step 8)! THIS IS ABSURD! The canvas must be screwed down to the frame with it on the ground, then connect the frame + canvas to the upright posts. Step 9: Illustration here and Step 10 show the #13 canvas connector wood piece offset. There is no reason why #13 cannot be centered, AS IT IS SHOWN in the photo on the cover page of instructions. Step 9: Illustration here and Step 10 don't show the scalloped canvas, important to get the canvas correctly oriented. Finally, it would have been a courtesy to suggest how many cubic feet of sand would be needed. The dimension of 48"x48"x48" could suggest 64 cu ft! Even a more reasonable 4'x4'x1' suggests 16 cu ft, which is still way too much sand!! Help your customers!!

Didn’t even last a month. Total crap. It makes me sad, my 2 year old grand daughter loved this. It started with the shade being a pain to raise up and down, but could have lived with that. It immediately started shifting, says it holds 300lbs of sand, that is false it started slipping after 150lbs. Amazon has been a pain in the return department. Delivered on the 2nd of February, birthday party 2 weeks later, it was put up, by March 10th it is broken. Amazon says I should have returned it by the 2nd of March. This thing has been a nightmare, skip it, don't buy it!!

Sturdy little sand box. It has withstood high winds and rains. Our 6 yr old loves to play. It holds sand well and provides shade and seating for the kids. Closes easy enough that the child can do it. Was a bit smaller than I anticipated but holds 3 under 10 yr old kiddos. Was a bit difficult to put together as the instructions were not very clear.
