Battery good, Amazon better
when i got a slick little cordless dremel tool for christmas, i loved it for about 20 minutes at a time, then its battery wore down and had to be recharged. not good if you want to use it for your work rather than as just a toy! so immediately ordered a second battery from Amazon, so one could be charging while i used the other. it was a sad disappointment to discover that the new battery had almost no power and couldn't hold a charge at all! that's the bad news. the good news is that i returned it to Amazon and had a new one within a few days. the new one works fine, the return process was fast and easy, and once again Amazon proves why so many of us prefer it to any other online shopping site. this is more an Amazon review than a review of the product... but the battery is as advertised, and now i can work much longer at a stretch. thanks, Amazon!

Does NOT fit older 770 Type 1
It looked like it would fit. It has almost the same model number (757-01 vs 757 for the older 770 Type 1), but it don't fit. Unfortunately, the older version hasn't been made for a long time now, so if you have an older 770 Type 1 like I do, you are out of luck unless you can find one on Ebay (I couldn't; full kits are available, but I just wanted the battery). Anyway, I can't give a bad rating just because I ordered the wrong battery, sooo... It is a very pretty battery, although it is all black (unlike the blue/black version in the picture). The latches on the side are supple enough not to frustrate when inserting and removing, yet of sufficient rigidity for solid purchase. The plastic is quite smooth, and at first glance would seem slippery if ones hands were wet or covered in blood, yet the ski-boot shape of the unit provides for a very sure and comfortable grip. You are not going to drop this baby! Although the battery I received is all black, it displays its powerful nature with confidence as it sits on my shelf... alone, even though it is completely bereft of charge (for I have no charger with which to charge it). This is very commendable, as it likely has contemplated a future without purpose. A brave front in the face of complete obsolescence even before it has experienced its first charge. Very commendable, indeed. Perhaps some pinstriping and flames would stem its sadness for a while. It deserves at least SOME happiness.

Itworks well, if
This delivers the power and performance expected, with one drawback. To get full power, I may have to jiggle it so all the contacts are made. That fault I believe is with the powered unit, not the battery. I have yet to try to pull the tabs out a bit for solid contact. But when I have t well seated, I'm very happy. It also holds the charge quite well.

Excellent replacement battery* Update
This is the name brand Dremel battery and is a perfect replacement for the original. It holds a charge very well. The only difference between the battery I received and the original it replaced is color. The replacement is solid black and the original is blue and black. * UPDATE. Now six months later and this battery will no longer hold a charge. I am one of those people who lets batteries run out of power before recharging. I've found that doing so extends the life of every rechargeable battery, and is a must for phones and computers. So I did the same with this one -- which was especially easy because doing nails for two dogs always exhausted the battery completely. Now the battery will only hold a charge for a few nails on one dog before dying. Very disappointing.

Good to have a spare
I got an extra battery when I ordered the Dremel 7700 cordless drill, to switch to when the battery that is on the tool runs out of gas. I use the drill enough that it can start to run down when I am needing it, so I just switch to the other battery when that happens. Because these are Ni-Cad batteries, I do not recharge them until they almost are completely run down, to prevent "memory" buildup. I then run it down to nothing before I recharge. I don't know how long it takes to recharge. I just leave it overnight in the charger; my guess would be it takes about 4 hours. 2 yrs Update: I'm assuming the battery's Ni-Cad nature is causing this situation. I don't think the batteries hold a charge as long as they used to, and they don't seem to "fill up" as much as they used to, but this is hard to quantify. Since they don't come in any other type of battery, one is stuck, if you want to use this drill. It is a good idea to have a spare ready to go, but, as I said, it's less reliable as time goes on. I presume I will eventually have to replace these. And of course, you do have to remember to recharge the spare.

OEM Perfection
Word to the wise, if your battery fails to charge… just blinks green for all eternity, your surge protector could be at fault. What I thought was an old battery needing replacement was an old surge protector needing replacement. I use this Dremel with a pet nail attachment so I really don’t need two fully functional batteries but now I got them! Oops!

the batteries on these things are junk
I use my Dremel tool only for buffing my dog's nails, about once a month. I bought the tool and battery about 8 years ago, but not on this site. Even after very infrequent use, the battery eventually became useless, causing me to order a replacement battery from Amazon just short of a year ago. Now, I just discovered that in trying to recharge the battery for no more than the second time since receiving it, it won't set into the charger such that the green light comes on, indicating that recharging is taking place. I have never dropped or damaged any component and the tool never leaves the inside of my home. For a product from a supposedly quality company, I have had nothing but negative results. I have written to the company and hoping for a positive solution to my problem.
