DRX890WL 500GB Black SKY+ HD Set-top

Bought this in September - Chigwell Satellite fulfilled by Amazon but only recently installed. Box is brand new and there are very (very) helpful installation notes enclosed in the box from Chigwell. The box comes with power and HDMI cables, a new Sky remote and batteries. Installation was very straight forward and the viewing card from the old box paired with no problem. I was replacing an Amstrad DRX780 which is aged and only received updates to firmware Ro10 and which required the external wifi box. I updated the new box to the current Ro18 (came with Ro13)and its all working great with integrated wifi. Used io link to continue sending rf signal to other TVs in the house over co-axial (the new box doesn't have an rf port). The box works/navigates faster than the old one and now has Sky Store Movies etc. I feel that Chigwell go that wee bit "extra" in helping ensure that the customer is happy - re the helpful instructions etc - rather than being "box shifters"

When the old sky box started playing up with failed recordings, unable to pause and clashed recordings I thought it was time for an upgrade. I thought it would need a phone call to Sky but luckily I decided to search through Amazon and came up with this little beauty. Ordered on Wednesday morning it arrived on Friday morning and I set about an installation. Intriguingly the box did not contain an instruction booklet but a quick internet search revealed a video on the Sky site. I followed these instructions and it was installed, connected to the internet and working in no time. I then setup the remote TV upstairs using a Triax box ordered at the same time as the Sky box and this involved turning the RF power on for the output and selecting a different channel. Again all this is explained on the Sky site in the help and support section. My final task was to programme the remote control for my Sony TV and once again I turned to the internet for the code and the key sequence on the remote. All now working and I must confess I should have done this years ago, the picture quality is stunning and the functionality has improved greatly especially with the internet connection and the catch up TV. Price wise I think it was about right given the functionality and the usage we will get from it.

Absolutely brilliant!... This very same box is being sold by Sky for over £200 ! This one is a bit smaller than the older model, nevertheless looks neat and it's certainly effective It was so easy to set up it's simply 'Plug & Play'. I bought this as my old box became unreliable. The cabling goes in the same slots , so all you need to do it pop in your view card,.switch on, . wait a few mins for the box to initialise and then you are up and running! The built in Wi-Fi even finds your network settings. A great piece of kit which I can thoroughly recommend. If you need a replacement sky box purchase this at less than half the price Sky want for the very same box!

Box arrived this afternoon 25 11 15 - two days later than stated - box installation was easy and the box is working well. It is being used in our multi room - for the priceof the box its very good value. recommended. However if you want it quickly then the post took 9 days so pay the extra and have it couriered.

Arrived as expected, the next day (but delivery obviously only relies on the courier - so I wouldn't have blamed the company if it was late). Boxed and then boxed again - so double protection. What I can't figure out is if it was a brand new Sky box (it certainly looked like it), or if it was second hand - although I don't really mind either way as it was like brand new - and I probably haven't read all the blurb properly anyway. Connected it up and follwed the instructions enclosed within and - lo and behold - all working great. Even when I contacted Sky (Aaaaagh!) to pair my viewing card, that was automated and totally painless, so stress levels stayed low. Full marks to Chigwell Satellite and to Richard who was struggling to hold the fort due to low staffing levels that day (I believe he was multitasking). Of course, this now means that I will have to polish all the other items in the TV cabinet - as the new Sky box is standing out like a sore thumb! Only a couple of weeks(?) but still going strong. Just an update (March 2023) - still working fine and no complaints whasoever. Full marks to the company! September 2023 - Still working!

Really good product...original in sealed box.........if you only have 1 input cable then the recording side is pretty limited........also seem to have lost program synopsis which is very annoying.....I have opted to get Sky in to install a second input cable.......Customer service from these guys has been top notch....very responsive. Great price too....when I tried to purchase from Sky they told me there were none available as the new system is Q box.....when I advised I might cancel suddenly they found a Sky+ box...wanted £280 + £60 to install!! Completely recommended SF

It is a Sky+ box. However it may not be the Sky+ box you expect. If you were hoping to replace an existing box with UHF in as well as Sky input sockets you will be disappointed as it does not have one. If like me you have cabled your house so that you can send Sky and Terrestrial around to your chosen rooms you will be disappointed as it does not have RF out sockets. I have no doubt that with some technical wizzardry all this can be achieved however it will be at aditional cost. It would have been helpful if the seller had been a little more elaborate with the description of the product. This was my attempt at avoiding the requirement of going to Sky Q which is equally innefective at utilising the cablng around my house and does not distribute Terrestrial TV either. For those that rquire this "redundant" type of distribution of Sky then you may need to repair your equipment as a replacement may not meet your needs or investigate more thoroughly than I did before you purchase.
